April 1913 " The Henry Felt family are packing preparatory to moving, but they do not know where. Henry spent most of last week in Nebraska."

November 2015 Loveland, Colorado " On January 6, 1921 in El Dorado Springs, Colorado, Dorothy Winkle was born. She had three sisters, two older and one younger. When she was 3 or 4 years old, her family moved to Platteville where her father was a farmer. Dorothy loved riding horses and she got her first horse, Dolly, when she was five years old. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1939. When she was in high school, she worked at a filling station, pumping gas, adding oil…and taking care of the owner’s little girl. James Felt came to Colorado from Nebraska to work. His aunt, uncle and cousins knew the Winkles and that is how Dorothy met her husband. They were married August 27, 1939. Dorothy and James lived in Platteville, La Salle, Greeley… in 1945 they moved to Nebraska for a year. The last place they lived was a big ranch by Ault that went all the way to Wyoming. They had 4 children, two boys, John Henry and Jimie and two girls, Dorothy Carolyn and Rosma, 'Roz'. She has lost three of her children, “a mother shouldn’t have to bury her children” she says. They all graduated from high school in Commerce City. Dorothy got her nickname, 'Sweetie' from her granddaughter. One day Dorothy opened the door for her 4 year old granddaughter and said, “Come on in sweetie”, and the granddaughter responded, “Thank you, sweetie!” And the name stuck. 'Sweetie' used to do a lot of knitting and crocheting. And she has several grandkids and greatgrandkids. She moved to The Courtyard because it was closer to her daughter, Roz and we are happy you are here. "

James Henry Felt 1917-2004 is buried in Platteville, Colorado # 37230415, on a stone with Dorothy Winkle Felt born 1921, # 37230416.
"Jimie 'Jammer' Lane Felt; 54, of Palatka, FL, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. He was born on September 11, 1953 in Greeley, CO to parents, James and Dorothy Felt. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving two tours. Mr. Felt was a graduate of Adams City High School and worked as a construction artist. He had resided in Palatka, FL for the past two years prior to living in the Clay County area for 8 years and was a member of Vineyard Christian Church in Middleburg, FL. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1988 in Green Cove Springs, FL, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #184 in Palatka, FL and the Moose Rider’s Club “MOB”, American Legion Middleburg Post #250 and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4505 in Green Cove Springs. He loved fishing, hunting and sports and was one of the best men in the world. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Felt, brother, John H. Felt and sister, Dottie Felt and is survived by his mother, Dorothy Felt; wife, Karen T. Felt; children, David Hansen (Susan) of Gainesville, FL, Scott Hansen (Kristie) of Pensacola, FL; Kristi Foster (Stephen) of Woodstock, GA, Melissa Felt of Virginia Beach, VA and Nicholas Felt of Vancleave, MS; sister, Rosma Walker (David) of Berthoud,CO; uncle, Leonard Felt (Thelma) of Buena Vista, CO; aunts, Eva Coyles Enders of Nebraska and Nedra Murray of Volcano, HI; grandchildren, Miranda, Kate, Taylor, Riley, Noah, Colbry, Ella and Aiden; niece, Pauline Berger (Mark) of Johnstown, CO and nephew, Bret Hanson of Thornton, CO. Ada Pearl Felt was born at Champion December 29, 1920, dying October 12, 1996 as Ada Todd.
Ada Pearl Felt married John W. Todd on February 4, 1943 in Washington, D.C.
She's buried in Greeley # 65310822. Her marker has the same style as John Woodrow Todd 1919-1992 # 65310821.
Also buried in Greeley is Lena Caroline (Felt) Todd 1889-1973 # 21557473 "daughter of Peter and Nancy Jane (Shubert) Felt. So Lena was Charles's sister.
Lena Jean Felt was born Nov 5, 1924 at Imperial, Nebraska, dying Feb 23, 2003 at Lena J. Vlasin.
She's buried in Perkins County # 153416391, with Otis Vlasin 1917-1999.

Leonard L. Felt 1925-2009 is buried in Fort Logan "U.S. Navy, WWII and Korea" # 36190342.
Buena Vista, Colorado "Leonard Felt, 84, passed away April 2, 2009. He was born in Chase County, Nebraska, and was raised in Enders and Champion, Neb. He entered the Navy in 1943 and served through the Korean War. Beginning in 1951, he worked in transportation until his retirement. He and Thelma were married in 1953. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; son Dennis; daughters Brenda and Katherine; grandsons Jesse, Matthew, Patrick, Linwood, Brandon and Keith; granddaughter Katelyn; great-grandchildren Christian, Courtney, Kaylee, Haley and Kira; his sister Eva; and daughter- and granddaughters-in-law Nicole, Jennifer, Jodi, Melinda, Jessica and Brittany. Burial was at Fort Logan Cemetery."



Wilson was single in 1930 Chase County, working out, and in 1940 Weld County, Colorado.

Elizabeth Jane Felt was born July 5, 1914 in Idaho Springs Colorado ? ? to Henry Felt and Jessie G. Smith, dyhing January 1994 as Elizabeth Hoskins.
She's a cook in the lunchroom in 1940 Chase County, 25, married to Wayne R. Hoskins 32, with Charles Wayne 3 and Jackie Lee Hoskins 1.

Eva J. Felt Hoffman, born about 1926, married James A. Littlejohn in Orange County, Califronia April 18, 1964.
They divorced there in February 1973.

1973 Greeley "Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mussei, 127 24th Ave. Court, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carol, to Pete Felt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Felt of west of Greeley. The bride-elect is a 1970 graduate of Greeley West High School and is now attending the University of Northern Colorado. Her fiance was graduated from Windsor High School in 1968 and from Aims College in 1971. He is employed by Eastman Kodak. A July wedding is being planned."

October 30, 1913 "Chas. Felt will leave Thursday for Chase county, Nebraska to do some carpenter work for Pearl Kimberley."

November 6, 1913 "Mrs. R. E. Veal and two children are guests of Mrs. Charles Felt. Mr. Veal is expected to arrive from Denver this week."


November 20, 1913 "Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Felt spent Monday at James Felts."

January 15, 1914 "Mrs. C. Felt received word from R. E. Veal announcing the death of their infant baby. It was buried Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Veal have the deepest sympathy of their many friends here and we long for their return home from Verdun, Nebraska, to their home north of Wray."

January 29, 1914 "R.E. Veal came in Sunday and is a guest in the Chas. Felt home."

Charles proved up 320 acres in sections 11, 14 and 15, 3N 43W in 1920.

March 1914 " Chas. Felt was able to return home last Wednesday. He had been sick for three weeks at his son's (probably meant his daughter's) home in Champion , Nebraska."

March 12, 1914 "Mrs. Chas. Felt received a couple of beautiful presents as birthday remembrances from her daughters, Mrs. Eliza Brisby of Verdon, Nebraska and Mrs. Mary Sayers of Champion, Nebraska. The presents were a hand-painted picture, an embroidered dresser scarf and a bed spread."

April 23, 1914 "Chas. Felt and wife and Chas. Workman and wife were guests at dinner at James Felt's Tuesday."

May 28, 1914 "Charles Felt has just completed a house for C. A. Johnson on his farm a mile west of Alvin. Mrs. Johnson visited the farm over Sunday. She has been making her home in Laird while the house was building."

July 16, 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Felt spent the Fourth with their daughter, Mrs. L. R. Sayre, and family at Champion and all took in the chautauqua at Holyoke Sunday. Master Lehman Sayre is making a two weeks visit with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Felt."

JAMES

In 1900 Chase County, Nebraska, James is with parents Peter Dec 1845 Germany and Nancy May 1862 Illinois. James was born Feb 1882 in Nebraska, Henry G. March 1886, and Mary C. April 1889 in Nebraska.
Pearl Kimberling born Sept 1870 in Iowa is next household, with wife Lucy E. born April 1874 in Illinois.l So Lucy is James' sister.

Cora Mader is in Chase County, too in 1900, next to the Felt family. She was born December 1883 in Illinois, with parents Georeg and Lavinia both born in Illinois. Mary Mader is 13, Orpha 10, George 8, and Lulu 6.

October 16, 1913 "Charles Felt is at James Felt's putting up a new addition to the house which will be a kitchen, pantry and cellar."


November 20, 1913 "Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Felt spent Monday at James Felts."
March 12, 1914 "Pearl Kimberly, wife and daughter and Miss Sarah Madder, all of Champion, Nebraska, were guests at the James Felt home, Sunday."
James Felt will take another load of fat hogs to Wray next Tuesday .

April 23, 1914 "Chas. Felt and wife and Chas. Workman and wife were guests at dinner at James Felt's Tuesday."

June 4, 1914 "Mrs. James Felt and Mrs. F. Clark were over to Chase county Sunday and report crops fine there."
"James Felt lost a fine-mare Saturday from some unknown cause."

March 16, 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark and children arrived in Wray Tuesday from their home in Benkelman, Neb., and went out to the home of Mrs. Clarks sister, Mrs. James Felt, and family, of twenty-five miles northeast of Wray. They expect to return to Benkelman Saturday."

James William Felt registered for WWI in Chase County, born Feb 7, 1882, with Cora L.. Felt.

In 1920 Chase County, James and Cora are both 37, with Lillian 11 born in Nebraska, and Glen 8 in Colorado.

In 1930 Chase County, they have Glen 18, Lillie 21, and Arlene 8. Cora's father George Mader 68 born in Illinois is with them.

James (Jim) Felt, 88, of Culbertson died Saturday, February 27th, 1971 at St. Catherine hospital in McCook. He was born February 7, 1883 at Shubert, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Felt. He grew up in the Champion area and was married September 4, 1906 to Cora Mader at Imperial. They homesteaded in Yuma county, Colorado, and returned to Champion in 1917. In 1937, they moved to a farm near Culbertson until 1947 when they moved into Culbertson.
He is survived by his widow, Cora; one son, Glenn of Benkelman; one daughter, Mrs. Arlene Reiman of Benkelman; two sons-in-law, Virley Fish and Gilbert Reiman of Benkelman; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Bauerle and Mrs. Lena Todd, both of California.
Funeral services were held at the Herrmann.Chapel in Culbertson with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Interment was in the Crete cemetery near Champion at four p.m. Monday afte-noon under the direction of the Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook.

Cora L. Felt, daughter of George and Lavina (Flickinger) Mader was born December 18, 1883 at Kent, Illinois. She departed this life at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial, Nebraska on December 6, 1973 at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 18 days.
As a young girl she moved to Nebraska with her folks. On September 3, 1905 she was united in marriage with Jim Felt. They began life together on a farm in Chase County. After several years they moved to Colorado where they took out a homestead. After 12 years in Colorado, they returned to Chase County where they remained until 1937 and then moved to Culbertson, Nebraska where again they lived on a farm.
To their union four children were born: Charley, Lillie, Glen and Arlene. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. After she had raised her family, the misfortune of death came to her son's wife leaving three small children. She and her husband took these grandsons into their home and cared for them until they were grown. She was a creative homemaker, constantly providing for the needs of her family. She was also a good neighbor always ready to help where needed.
When Cora lost her husband by his death, February 7, 1971, she sold her place at Culbertson and moved to Benkelman to make her home with her daughter, Arlene. Her industrious quality of life still kept her busy. She found fulfillment of life through piecing quilts. Her great-grandchildren also were a great joy to her.
When her health failed and she needed more care, she went to Imperial and took residence in The Manor where she lived the last ten months of her life.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Jim, a daughter and a son who died in infancy.
Those who survive to mourn her death include a son, Glenn Felt of Benkelman, Nebr.; a daughter, Arlene, Mrs. Gilbert Reiman of Benkelman; two sisters, Mrs. John Smith of Imperial and Orphie Marsh of Ft. Morgan, Colorado. There are nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, other relatives and numerous friends who join the family now in sharing the loss of their loved one.
Funeral services were held at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 8, 1973 at the United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebraska with the Rev. Melvin Koelling officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Bauerle were the singers, accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Silvester on the organ. Casket bearers were Harry P. Smith, Joseph A. Reiman, Roger Felt, Greydon Todd, Orville Gray and Clifford Yost. Interment was in the Crete Community Cemetery near Champion, Nebraska under the direction of the Creveling Funeral Home of Imperial. "

Lillie M. (Felt) Fish 1908-1960 is buried in Benkelman # 71057444, with Virley W. 1892-1973.

Glen, born December 3, 1911, died in March 1986, last residence Benkelman, Nebraska.
Glen Edward Felt, age 74, died Saturday morning, March 1, 1986, at the Fritzer Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Nebraska, after a lengthy illness. He was born December 3, 1911, the son of James William and Cora (Mader) Felt, in Yuma County, Colorado.
Glen grew up in the Champion area and attended school in Chase County. He was married to Viola Edwina DeSelms on June 13, 1936. They made their home in Culbertson, Nebraska. To this union, three sons were born: Walter James of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Edward Eugene of Stratton, Nebraska, and Roger Gene of Arapahoe, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; brother, Charles; sister, Lily, and his parents.
In 1945 his wife passed away. Glen then moved to a farm north of Benkelman to live with his sister, Lily Fish, and husband, Virley, to help with the farming operation. He lived there for 39 years. For the past two years, Glen had been a resident of the C.A. Mues Rest Home in Arapahoe.
Glen is survived by his three sons; a sister, Arlene Reiman, and her husband, Gilbert of Benkelman; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Services were held March 4, 1986, at 9:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with interment in the Culbertson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Watters, Bill Smith, Aldin Kasten, Orville Pinn, Dennis Pinkerton and Bill Silvester. Organist was Oneita Silvester and singers were Irvin and Garnetta Bauerle. Jones Funeral Home of Benkelman was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene married Gilbert Meiman, and in 2009 was living in Benkelman.

"Sharon Catherine Reiman, of Benkelman, died Friday (July 17, 2009) at Heritage of Wauneta, inWauneta. She was born July 16, 1945, in Benkelman at Premer Hospital to Gilbert and Arlene (Felt) Reiman and was baptized into the Catholic faith. Her first eight years were spent at home on the family farm north of Benkelman, she then entered the State Home for Children in Beatrice, where she resided for many years. In May of 1993, she was moved to Heritage of Wauneta where she lived until her death. She had many friends while living in Wauneta. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Reiman, both sets of grandparents and several uncles and aunts. Survivors include her parents, Gilbert and Arlene Reiman of Benkelman; sisters, Bonnie Straub and husband, Dave of St. Francis and Barbara Pinkerton and husband, Dennis of Benkelman; brother, Joseph Reiman and special friend, Ardith Tracy of Benkelman; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benkelman with the Rev. Fr. Sean Redmond officiating. Interment followed services at the Benkelman Cemetery. "

"Arlene May (Felt) Reiman was born May 1st, 1924 on the family farm south of Champion, Nebraska, to James and Cora (Mader) Felt. As a young girl she attended country school and finished her education at Culbertson High School, Culbertson, Nebraska.
Arlene married Gilbert Charles Reiman on January 30, 1945, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Sharon, Ronald, Bonnie, Joseph, and Barbara. The couple settled on a farm North of Benkelman where they lived for ten years, before making their home in Benkelman. In 2009, Arlene moved to the Willow Ridge Retirement Center in McCook, Nebraska. She returned to Benkelman in 2015 and resided at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home until present.
Arlene was employed at the Dundy County Hospital for twenty-six years as a cook. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Benkelman and very active in the St. Joseph’s Alter Society. Arlene enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and visiting with friends. She also especially loved to spend time and care for her grandchildren. After retiring, she continued working with social services and the Benkelman Housing Authority.
Arlene passed away Saturday morning, February 11, 2017, at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman. Arlene was 92 years of age.
Survivors Include:
Daughter; Bonnie Straub and husband, Dave, of St. Francis, KS
Son: Joseph Reiman and friend, Ardith Tracy, of Benkelman, NE
Daughter: Barbara Pinkerton and husband, Dennis, of Benkelman, NE
11 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great-great-Grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Gilbert, Son; Ronald, Daughter; Sharon, Sister; Lily Fish, Brother; Glenn Felt, and nephew; Roger Felt
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday Morning, February 16th, 2017, 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Benkelman, NE, with Fr. Lothar Gilde Celebrating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE "
