John A. and Wilhemina (Roberts) Conover, Alvin


In 1885 Richardson County, Nebraska, John is 3, with Charles 25 and Emma 23. Gertie is 6, and Charles 2, with Clydie eight months old.

In 1900 Nemaha County, Nebraska, Wilmina Roberts is 15, wtih Paxton C. 56 and Emma J. 53.

In 1910 Hitchcock County, Nebraska, John is farming 28, with "Wilmina" 25, Emma Ruth 4 and a newbonr son.

John proved up 320 acres in section 17, 4N 43W in 1916.
John Asher Conover registered for WWI in Alvin, farming, born February 18, 1882, with Wilhelmina.


In 1920 Yuma County, John is 38 born in Nebraska, with Willamina 26 Illinois. Ruth 14 and Loyd 9 were born in Nebraska, Lola 7 and Edith 3 were born in Colorado.


1920 Routt County, Colorado "John A. Conover of Wray, Colo., was an arrival in Steamboat this week."

"John A. Conover, a friend of C. 0. Rudisill of Glen Eden, has been here for two weeks. He is pleased with Routt county and is considering locating here."

In 1930 Hitchcock County, Nebraska, John A. Convover is 48, Wilhelmina 44, wth Lola M 17, Edith M. 13, and Forest L. is 9.
Also with them are Wilhelmina's mother Emma J. Roberts 83, born in Newjersey, and her sisters Jessie M. Forsythe 55 and Maude M. Nelson 50, both born in Illinois. Ethel B. Roberts is 19 born in Nebraska.

In 1940 John and Wilhelmina are in Pasadena, California, where he's a foreman at a lumber mill. Maude Nelson is still with them, 61, and grandaughter Bernice Lee 5 born in Utah. Next door are Forrest Conover 19 married to Norma 18 born in New Jersey.

Mina Conover -1884-1959 is buried in Riverside County, California # 137676730.

John married Kate Belle Chandler October 28, 1959.
John - February 13, 1882-March 20, 1970, died in San Joaquin County.

Kate Conover 1887-1974 is buried in Prairie Union Cemetery, Richardson County, Nebraska # 1110823805.
One tree said she had married Clyde Conover 1884-1945, who's also buried in Prairie Union


Lola Mae Long passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on November 20, 2016 at the age of 104.
Born on October 22, 1912 in Alvin, Colorado, she was the third of five children born to Willamina and John Asher Conover. During her childhood, she lived in Colorado and Nebraska. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1931. In 1932, she moved to Pasadena, California to live with her older sister.
Lola met the love of her life, George Long of Pasadena and they married in 1935. Their only child, George Frederick Long, was born in August, 1936. Lola and George were a very hardworking couple starting out with roadside fruit and vegetable stands in the San Gabriel Valley. By 1940, they owned a 60-acre date orchard in Coachella Valley and had established Long's Date Gardens on Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. George passed away in 1951 at the age of 36. Lola operated the business until her retirement in 1970. In 2002, she moved from Pasadena to Lake Forest to be closer to her family.
Lola was a devoted Christian throughout her entire life. She maintained many friendships over the years, and never missed an opportunity to send a card to those celebrating special events in their lives. She attended Church in the Park (Calvary Chapel) at El Toro Mobile Estates for the past eight years.
Lola is survived by her son George F. Long (Marilyn) of Lake Forest; grandsons, Jeffrey Dickman (Ann Moerer) of Santa Ana, George R. Long (Julie) of NSW, Australia, Christopher Long (Sunday) of Mission Viejo; granddaughter Kelly Long (Denice Flannery) of Rancho Santa Margarita; and great-grandsons, Kurtis and Hayden Long of NSW, Australia, and Noah and Micah Long of Mission Viejo.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; parents Willamina and John Conover; step-mother, Kate Conover; brothers, Charles Conover and Forrest Conover; and sisters Ruth Shapiro and Edith Thompson.


Edith Marie Convover was born in Colorado April 11, 1916, as Lingo in 1940, and as Thompson in 1971.

When she married Henry Lingo December 2, 1937 in in Yuma, Arizona, she was 21, a native of Holyoke, Colorado, and Henry was a salesman born in Philadelphia. Both were residents of Pasadena.
In 1940 Richmond, California, Henry Lingo is 26, born in Pennsylvania. , Edith 24, with Catharine 3 and Evelyn 1 born in California.
She died in Las Vegas Nevada, and is buried there 1916-1994 # 95515084

Henry is buried in Las Vegas 1814-1983 # 103340565. Kathleen Lingo 1915-1991 # 103340710.

So he must have married Edith between 1991-1994.
