Noble C. and Nina P. Smithson, John R. Smithson,
In 1900 Chaves County New Mexico, Joseph Smithson born Aug 1861 in Tennessee and Laura October 1868 in Kentucky, have been married 18 years and have nine children, all living. With them are "Nobbe C." March 1884, Guy March 1886, Ralph Nov 1887, Hayde Nov 1889, Rubin Aug 1890, and Edna Oct 1892, all these born in Texas. Born in New Mexico are Inez Dec 1895, Lillian Jan 1894, and Sylvanus Oct 1899.
One tree says Nina Pearl Gishwiller was born January 17, 1886 in Almena Kansas to John Alfred Gishwiller and Armida Mahala Howard Gishwiller, and that Helen died August 1, 1962 in Franklin County, Nebraska.
1908 "Mr. Smithson has part of the improvements on his place completed, and will build the house as soon as weather permits."
In 1910 Yuma County, West Wray precinct "on the Haxtun Road". Noble C. is 26, born in Texas, with Nina P. 24, Kansas. They have Hellen, 2, born in Kansas.
In 1911 Noble, along with Ed Brown, D. T. VanMeter and several others, made an arrest of a neighbor who was intimate with his wife's sister, "only sixteen years of age."
1913 "The dance at Smithson's Friday night was well attended and a good time reported."
Noble claimed two quarters in 25, 3N 45W, proving up in 1916.
1917 "Noble Smithson returned from a trip to Oklahoma in his car. His brother came back with him on a visit."

Noble Coleman Smithson registered in Yuma County, saying he was born March 22, 1884.
John Rubin Smithson registered, born August 8, 1888 in Hondo City, Texas, was single, working for Noble on the farm. John Reuben Smithson was called April 26, 1918.
In 1919 Edward Hahn wrote back from Germany "Well that was news to me about Reuben Smithson being wounded."
In 1919 among the patients at the Brown Sanitarium in Wray "Mr. Smithson and daughter, Helen."
In 1920 Noble and Nina are still in the Wray precinct, with Helen 12 and Belle 6.
In 1930 Franklin County, Nebraska Noble is the county sheriff, and they have "Lillard B.", 17
In 1940 Franklin County Noble is a night watchman, and he and Nina are living with daughter Helen 32 and her husband John K. Paulsen, a machinist, with Margaret Ann 9, Robert 5, and Joyce 3.

James Noble Bennett, born Feb 20, 1938, died in Los Angeles - mother's maiden name Smithson.
In 1940 Los Angeles is Bell Bennett, 27, born in Colorado, married to Ronald E. 34, born in Kansas, a carpenter. They were in Ogallala in 1935.

| Robert Coleman Paulsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Paulsen, was born
July 2, 1934, at Franklin, and was drowned May 30, 1945, at the age of
10 years and 28 days. He had lived in Franklin all his life. He had recently graduated from the 5th grade of the local public school. He was a member of the Cub Scouts, Den I. He was also a member and regular attendant of the Methodist Sunday School. He was a lover of sports and his cheerful disposition won for him a great many friends. He leaves to morn his passing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Paulsen; three sisters, Peggy Ann, Joyce, and Glenda; and one brother, Johnnie; also surviving are four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Smithson of Franklin, and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Werrebroeck of Omaha; three aunts and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p. m., at the Methodist church with Rev. M. R. Willis in charge. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Ingram, Kenneth Greoge, Jerry Ingram, Joe McKee, Dorsey Roath and Earl Tueers, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the members of Cub Scout, Den I. The members of the local Boy Scout Troop No. 186, and the Cub Scouts, attended in a group. Singers were G. P. Spence, T. R. Blank, and L. L. Goldsbury, with Mrs. Clarence Niemeyer as accompanist. Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Werrebroeck and Betty, and Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Anderson of Omaha, Mrs. Althea Werrebroeck of Kansas City, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Brooks of Inavale, Mr. and Mrs. Gishwiller and sons, of Wilcox, Mr. and Mrs. Erving Brooks of Wilcox. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next household after Noble in the 1920 census is John R. Smithson, 28, also born in Texas, with Sallie 21, also born in Texas. That probably is the Ralph in the 1900 census.
John R. Smithson proved up on 320 acres in 1, 2 and 12, 4N 45W in 1922, witnesses James Brophy, Evan Garton, Jacob E. Brown, and John L. Brown.
In 1930 John and Sallie are still farming in Yuma County. In 1940 they're in Morrison, Colorado, where John works in the kitchen at the parks amphitheatre - they were in Greeley in 1935.
In 1956 they're in Denver, where John R. is a driver, and they live at 3054 W. Gill Place.
In 1960 he was still in Denver, per sister Mary's obituary.
John Ruben Smithson is in the obituary index, dying in Jefferson County, Oklahoma, from the Duncan Banner of Jan 1, 1973.

1918 Jefferson County Oklahoma " R. P. WILSON of Frederick visited J. C. SMITHSON's family last week, taking MRS. I. P. THOMSPON and children and MISS EDNA WYRICK home with him for a few days visit."
In 1920 Haskell County Oklahoma are Jossah C. Smithton, 58, Laura 55, Inez 22, Syhllahoners 20, Jimmie 16, Eugene 14, and niece Sallie Roves, 17.
Joseph Carroll Smithson, born Aug 19, 1861 in Nashville, Tennessee, died Jan 13, 1940 in El Reno, Oklahoma, and is buried there "He was married twice and had 11 children with his second wife , Laura L. Anderson." 44983798 and Laura 44983835
When Mary Edna Smithson Wyrick died in 1960, her siblings were five sisters, Mrs. Hadie Thompson, Comanche, Mrs. Lillard Standfield, Wapanueka, Mrs. Inez Sconado, Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Jimmy Stanser, Baytown, Tex., Mrs. Jean Gerlack, Rockford, Tex.; three brothers, Rubin Smithson, Denver, Colo., Ralph Smithson, San Antonio, Tex., and Sill Smithson, San Diego, Calif.
John Ralph Smithson had a bunch of kids, and two were born in Nebraska - John R, born about 1922, and Winfred, about 1925. One tree said John R. was born in Franklin County, Nebraska, so they might have gone up to be with Noble.
