Albert R. and Ida (Haynes) Evans


Albert, son of Daniel Evans and Sarah Bradford, married Ida E. Haynes on April 10, 1887 in Union County, Ioa.
Ida was the daughter of Franklin Haynes and Sarah Westler.
In 1870 Peoria County, Illinois, Moses F. Haynes is 32, Sarah 31, Alice M. 10, Ida 4, and Mary V. 1.
In 1880 Union County, M.F. is 45, Sarah A. 44, Alice M. 19, Ida E. 14, Mary V. 11, Walter E. 8, Nellie F. 6, and Daisy M. 2.

Albert R. Evans is in Union County in 1880, too, with Daniel 64 born in Wales and Sarah 48 in Kentucky.
In 1885 Union County, Daniel is 68, Sarah 53, Albert R. 19.

Daniel born 1815 is buried in Union County # 19432050, with Sarah Jane (Richardson) Evans 1831-1892 # 19432045, "Married March 23, 1847 in Knox County, Kentucky."

Daniel 44, and Sarah 29, are in Henry County, Illinois in 1860, with Nancy 9, Jno 2, and John August 16.

Nancy Hayden, 42, died August 7, 1894 in Union County, Iowa, buried Liberty Center.
She's buried with Samuel Hayden in Adair County, # 19432058.

In 1900 Laird precinct, Yuma County, Albert is farming, born April 1866 in Illinois, married 13 years to Ida E. Sept 1865 Ohio. Esley July 1888 was born in Iowa, Violatta January 1899 in Colorado.

May 1905 "Walter E. Haines, an attorney near Creston, Iowa, was in the city the first of the week visiting his sisters, Mrs. Bert Evans and Miss Nelle Haines. Mr. Haines was up at Denver on legal business, and from there was going to Salt Lake City, and having a few days between times, came down here last Friday. He departed Monday for the west."

Otis A. Courtney, 28, of Wray, Colorado, married Nellie F. Haynes, 31, on June 21, 1905 in Union County, Iowa




Nellie was born at Elmwood, Illinois to Moses Haynes and Sarah A. Washeler..

March 1907 "Bruce Wimmer, of Creston, Iowa, visited in this city a couple of days the fore part of the week. He is a nephew of Mrs. O. A. Courtney and Mrs. A. R. Evans and a cousin of Mrs. Letitia Scott and Mrs. Bullard. He went from here to Denver and from there goes to Greeley to attend school."

August 1907 "George Hayden, wife and daughter, Miss Flossie, who have been visiting relatives and friends in Wray and vicinity for the past two weeks, left Tuesday for their home at Cheyenne Wells. They expect to remain there a week or so and then return to Wray to remain some time and possibly to make this place their home. Mrs. Hayden is a sister of A. R. Evans, and a cousin of Mrs. W. E. Wolfe and of Mrs. Belle Roush."

July 1908 " A. R. Evans was arrested Thursday by officers from Nebraska, and was taken to McCook that evening. We understand the charge is adultery."

July 10, 1908 McCook "The wrecking of two homes was briefly indicated by the evidence heard by Squire Berry Wednesday morning in a case wherein the state of Nebraska was plaintiff and Albert R. Evans a liveryman of Wray Colorado was defendant. Adultery was the crimo alleged and a Mrs. Brady of near Wray was the woman in the case. McCook is testified to as the place of the sinning and May 23-25 190? the dates involved. During these dates the guilty pair were entered on the register of a city hotel as Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Justice Berry considered that the evidence given warranted placing Evans under an appearance bond in the sum of $300 to answer at the next term of district court for Red Willow county in this city. Walter E. Haynes of Oneida Iowa, a brother of Mrs. Evans was present and is pushing the case against his erring brother-in-law. Both couples are separated by this affair. Mrs. Brady is now living in this city."

July 1908 "Walter E. Haynes, who had been visiting his sisters Mrs. O. A. Courtney and Mrs. A. R. Evans for about two weeks, left Saturday morning for Denver and from there he goes to his home at Anita, Iowa."

April 1909 "Otis Courtney left Wednesday for Omaha where he will meet his brother-in-law, Walter Haines of Creston, Iowa and together they will go on a three weeks trip thru the states of North and South Dakota. Charley Courtney is doing the barber act in his stead during his absence."

May 28, 1909 "O. A. Courtney left Tuesday with a carload of furniture for his new home in South Dakota. Mrs. Courtney will accompany Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Evans, who will make the trip overland."

They're farming in 1910 Oelrichs, Fall River County, South Dakota, Albert 44, Ida 42, Arley A. 20, and Sarah V. 11.

Violet Evans, 19, married William J. Harrison on October 29, 1918 in Fall River County.

In 1913 Arley is teaching at the Logune School, Harmony District #16, Fall River County.

Arley is a Standard Oil agent in 1920 Fall River County, 31, born in Iowa. He's next to Violet S. Harrison 21 born in Colorado and her husband William J. Harrison 20


In 1930 Fall River County, Arley is 40, farming, and mother Ida is living with him.

In 1940 Fall River County, Arley is 50, mother Ida 73, and Mae Overton 62, widowed, is with them.

Albert 1865-1928 is buried in Chadron, Nebraska # 96133460.
So is Ida E. (Haynes) Evans 1866-1954 # 96133638.
So is Arley A. Evans 1889-1961 # 96133479.

Bernice D. Stone, 23, married William J. Harrison on September 9, 1927 in Fall River County.

Violet is in the 1925 South Dakota census, married, 25.

In 1930 Fall River County, William is 30, now married to DeVee B. 21, with Gloria Lou 1.

In 1940 Fall River County, William Harrison is 40, DeVee 31, with Gloria 11, June Ann 8, James Ben 2.

William Jennings Harrison 1899-1974 is buried in Fall River County # 142691846, on the same stone as Devee Bernice (Stone) Harrison 1909-1974 # 142693249.

May 19, 1951 "Bonesteel, South Dakota - Lewis Stone, 73. A pioneer resident of Bonesteel, died of a stroke this week. Funeral services held at Baptist church on Thursday. Burial in Rosebud cemetery. Came to South Dakota in 1890 and homesteaded north of Bonesteel. Survived by a daughter. Mrs. W. J. Harrison of Oelrichs and a brother."


Violet E. Graham, born in Colorado January 28, 1901 (wrong) , died May 27, 1982 in Los Angeles County, California, mother Haynes, father Evans.
She's buried in Whittier, California # 144500180.
