John Adams

John claimed two quarters in 5 and 8, 3N 45W, proving up in 1919. Witnesses were Harry Barr of Eckley, Heenan B. Maxwell, Bertie M Brownlee and Orville F. Day, all of Wray.

He might be the John Thomas Adams, registering in Wray, saying he was born April 17, 1880, and was a farm laborer for E. J. Scribner in Yampa, Colorado.

In 1922 he owns four quarters, next to B.M Brownlee's Lazy A ranch, which has thirteen quarters.

In 1923 he was paid $5 for working on county roads.

But he's not in the Yuma County 1934 or 1937 directories.

He might be in Denver in 1930 - the John T. Adams - guest at the Pillar of Fire hotel / School, a laborer doing odd jobs.

In 1940 he's 61,born in Colorado, single, living on Elm Street in Wray.   Not many people born in Colorado in 1879 ......

He's buried in the Wray cemetery, with a date of 1958.
