Charley A. Thomas , Copper Kettle


Charley proved up a quarter in section 35, 3S 44W in 1898. Witnesses were Silas Moore and John Kelley, of Logan, Colo., Wilbur H. Welch and W. C. Conway, of Lansing, Colo.



In 1900 Leetsdale, Arapahoe County, Charley is dairying, born April 1860, with Mary Jan 1869, Edith Sep 1880, and Emery May 1886, all born in New York.
They're on the "cemetery road", so they might be near Fairmount Cemetery.

In 1910 Glendale precinct, Charles is a carpenter, 53, married 30 years to Mary 54, both born in New York. Mary has had two children, both living.
Next household is Emery Thomas 22 born in New York, with Alice 23 and Charles 1, both born in Colorado.

Emery married Alice Riley on October 29, 1906 in Golden, Colorado.

In 1900 Leetsdale, Arapahoe County, Charley is dairying, born April 1860, with Mary Jan 1869, Edith Sep 1880, and Emery May 1886, all born in New York.

In 1920 Emery is farming in Weld County, 34, with Alice 33, Chas 11, Howard 7, and Edna 5.

In 1930 Adams County, Colorado, Emery E. and Alice are both 44, Howard 17, Edna 15, and Helen 5.

Alice 1885-1937 is buried in Littleton, Colorado # 79091430.

In 1940 Pueblo, Colorado, Emery is 54, living with Charles and Elsie both 31, Harold 7, and Jo 3. Helen Thomas is 15.

Emery Thomas, 63, married Mary Ellen Morrison on Oct 25, 1949 in Clark County, Washington.

CHARLES

Elsie Lucas was in Yuma County in 1920, with William Lucas and Artemeca (Miller) Lucas.
Elsie and Edward are both 10, Andrew Jay 8, and Jackson Miller 69.

They're in Adams County, Colorado in 1920, William E. 59, Artie M. 51, Elsie N and Edward A. both 20, Andrew J. 18, Edgar A. 8, and Jackson Miller 79.

William 1870-1940 # 109671649 and Artemeca 1879-1980 # 109671689 are buried in Brighton, Colorado.

Charles E. Thomas and Elsie M. Lucas married in Dupont, Colorado on Sept 9, 1931.

They divorced in Adams County, Colorado on Feb 24, 1972.

Charles, born Jan 1, 1909, died June 2, 1994.
"Elsie Lucas Thomas, 84, of Thornton died Dec. 8, 1993 at Alpine Manor Health Care Center. Services were Dec. 13 at Berkeley Park Chapel. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton. She was born Sept. 14, 1909, in Idalia. She married Charles Thomas in 1931 in Denver. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker. She is survived by two sons, Harold of Northglenn and Gary of Hot Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Joy Wilker of New Castle and Sherry Babcock of Commerce City; one brother, Ed Lucas of Denver; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Howard, born Nov 7, 1912 in Denver, died April 16, 1996.

Helen Thomas, born 1925, married John Heit on July 21, 1947 in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

John, born in 1916, served in WWII in Europe, died April 5, 1999 in Rocky Ford, Colorado, buried in Fort Lupton # 57160969.

Helen died in 2018, buried in Fort Lupton, Colorado # 193081467.
"Helen Thomas Heit, 93, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, August 29th, at Swedish Medical Center, Denver, Arapahoe County.
Helen was born in Denver, CO on January 26, 1925, a daughter of the late Alice (Riley) and Emery Thomas.
Helen graduated from Rye High School in 1943. She also attended a business college in Ogden, Utah and a medical surgical tech school at William Beaumont Hospital in El Paso.
She was the widow of John Adam Heit. they were married on July 21, 1947 in Rocky Ford, CO. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1999..
She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Helen served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. Prior to the military she worked as a Finance Typist Clerk. After the military she worked at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital and for Dr. Raymond P. Shima as a nurse.
She is survived by: Sister-in-Law Elizabeth Wethington; Nephew Harold, husband of Annette Thomas; Niece Joy Wilker; Niece Sherry Babcock; Nephew Gary Thomas; Friend Darla Meier.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
A Rosary Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 6th with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 6th at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton, CO on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM."

Edgar M. Lucas 1921-2006 is buried in Brighton # 90315658.
