Mary E. Swearingen , Copper Kettle


Idalia items, March 1899 " Mrs. Swearingen paid a visit to her Colorado friends."
"Mrs. Mary Swearinger who was in these parts a few days last week on business, returned to her home in Kansas Sunday."

Mary timber-claimed a quarter in 3S 44W in 1899, and proved up one in 19, 4S 43W in 1903.



March 1900 " Mrs. Mary Swearinger has arrived from Almeda, Kansas. "

Mary is in the 1900 census of Idalia precinct, born March 1855 in West Virginia, married nine years - she's had two children, both living. Emmet E. Hovermale was born Sept 1879 in West Virginia.

October 1912 "Mrs. Swearinger, mother of Emmett Hovermale, is here irom Kansas for a visit with her son and family ."

Mary is living with daughter Alie Miday in 1920 Stark County.

Mary Elizabeth Hovermale Swearinger 1854-1924 is buried in Louisville, Ohio # 36380359.

Her consort Elijah Early Bohrer 1836-1928 is buried in Wray # 17005803.

"Mrs. Wilhelmina Searcy, a longtime resident of Wray, died Friday, September 16, 1960 after a long illness. The funeral service was held at the Wray Methodist church at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon followed by burial in Grandview cemetery Wilhelmina Kollman was born at Kendallville Ind. on April 23. 1874, and was 86 years, four months and 24 days old at the time of her death. She was the youngest of eight children of Bernard and Emestlna Kollman. She received her education in the public schools of Kendallville, graduating with the class of 1893. While in her teens she became a member of the Methodist church, taking an active part in the work of the Epworth League of which she served as secretary and later president. She became a member of the Kendallville Rebekah Lodge, serving as Vice Grand Noble Grand, and was recording secretary for seven years.
In the spring of 1907 she came to Colorado where on April 23 that year she was married to Elijah Bohrer of Idalia. They made their home on a ranch ten miles west of Idalia. Two children were born to them, a daughter Myrtle Bernards, and a son, Calvin Elijah, who died at the age of two years.
When Mr. Bohrer's health failed, they moved to Iowa for a year, then moved to Wray in the spring of 1917 where they made their home until his death January 10, 1920. Mrs. Bohrer transferred her church membership to the Wray Methodist church and took an active part In the work of the church. She served as president of the Woman’s Home Missionary soelety and later as secretary for Wray Rebekah Lodge No 76 and served as Noble Grand. She was recording secretary for sixteen years.
On April 17 1921, she was married to Albert Searcy. He was killed August 24 1950.
Surviving Mrs. Searcy are her daughter Myrtle Bernards Bohrer of Wray and four nephews. Charles F Kollman of Fort Wayne Ind Ralph Kollman of Pontiac, Mich, Cyril Kollman of New Haven Indiana and Robert I Kollman of Kendallville Indiana."

Allie N. Hovermale and Joseph Miday married in Denver on Nov 26, 1890.

Joe Miday cash-claimed 160 acres in sections 2 and 11, 3S 45W in 1890>

Almira T. Miday proved up a quarter in seciton 3, 3S 44W in 1895, and timber-claimed another in section 4 in 1900.

They're in Stark County, Ohio in 1900, Joseph Feb 1854 Ohio, Almina April 1860 in Virginia, with Rosalie Aug 1892 Colorado, Raymond Apr 1875 and Robert Feb 1897, both in Ohio.

In 1910 Stark County, Joe is 55, Almira 40, Rosalie 18, Raymond 14, and Robert 12.

One tree said Rosalie May Miday was born in Yuma County in August 1892. It said she married Casper C. Wilson 1885-1968 and died in Ohio in 1927.

July 1902 "Joe Miday of Louisville, Ohio arrived in Wray and is making arrangements to establish a ranch on the Arickaree. Mr. Miday was interested in the the business in this section in early days, being connected with the old Miday Cattle Co. "

Almira T. Miday was delinquent on taxes in 1904 for land in 4, 3S 44W.

Almira T. (Bohrer) Miday 1867-1962 is buried in Stark County # 108502443.

"ROBERT E. MIDAY, of EAST CANTON, OHIO, Born in Osnaburg, Ohio, Feb. 6. 189S. Single. Son of Joseph J. and Almira Miday. Entered service August, 1918. Depot Brigade, Camp Taylor, Kentucky. "
Robert is buried in Stark County 1898-1953 # 52313244.

Raymond E. Miday 1896-1975 is buried in Stark County # 43676185, with Serena 1898-1974.

EMMETT

Emmet E. Hovermale, 21, and Minnie B. Ade 17, both of Colorado, married in Cheyenne County, Kansas on Dec 23, 1900.

October 1910 Wray "Mrs. N. Gray of Rapid City, South Dakota, who has been here visiting the past month with her brother, I. H. Rose, of Idalia and her sister, Mrs. E. E. Hovermale, of tills, place, returned to her Home last Tuesday evening. Nineteen years have passed since Mrs. Gray was in Wray and she was loud In her praise of the Iinprovment of the country and town. "

In 1910 Wray, Ernest E. Hovermale is 30, Minie V. 27, Emra 8, Bessie R. 6, Mary R. 5, and Orville L. 1.

Emmet is buried in Wray 1879-1917 # 37800462.

January 18, 1917 "Emmett Hovermale, real estate man residing on the north side of the river, died very suddenly Wednesday just before noon. He was taken ill Sunday with the grip, but was not thought to be serious. Yesterday forenoon he was up a little, but at nearly the noon hour he began to complain of a severe pain in the region of his heart and in a few moments he passed away. The funeral will be held from the residence this afternoon conducted by Rev. Rice. He leaves a wife and several small children to mourn his demise."

Emmett E. Hovermale and Minnie Bell Cook had Betty Rebecca Hovermale in Wry, who married John F. Barton in Council Bluffs, Iowa on January 6, 1925.

In 1920 Lancaster County, Nebraska, Minnie B. is 38, married to Arthur B. Cook 28. Bessie Hovermale is 16, Orville L. 11.

# 144244477 has "William Sylvester Swearingen born July 12, 1856 passed away February 23, 1934. He leaves to mourn his death two sons, John and William S. Swearingen of Strong City, three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Pitcher of Pond Creek, Okla., Mrs. Dora Smith of Jola, Kansas and Mrs. Fannie Males of Seattle, Washington besides a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Tunnard Funeral home of Cheyenne. Burial was made in the Chapel Hill cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. "
