February 1945 "Mr. and Mrs. W. R. May of Charlevoix, Michigan,
the former a brother of Mrs. Jim Neuschwanger, arrived here
Thursday bringing with them Mr. Henry May, the father,
who will make his home with the Neuschwangers indefinitely.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Neuschwanger entertained at dinner
greeting the arrivals, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Peterson of Burlington,
Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Peterson of Bennett
(the ladies are sisters of Mr. Jim Neuschwanger and Mrs. W. R. May),
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Neuschwanger and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Neuschwanger and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bowen and family, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Godsey
and Mrs. Sammy Bowen, besides the honored guests."
July 3, 1947 "Henry C. May observed his 87th birthday June 23
at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. E.
Neuschwanger. Guests for the day were Mr. May's brother
J. J. May and Mrs. May of Wray; Mrs. Nina Beverlin and
granddaughter Charlene Beverlin; Mrs. H. L. May and sons
Norman and Darrell of Denver and Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May
and sons Robert and Billy."

In 1900 Hayes County, Nebraska, John May is farming, born January 1863 in Kentucky, Laura April 1872 in Missouri. Byron F. June 1894, Nina E. Oct 1895, Ross P. March 1897,a nd Rhoda V. Oct 1899, were all four born in Nebraska.
In 1910 Whitman County, Washington, John May is farming, 47, with Anna L. 39, Byron F. 16, Nina E. 14, Ross P. 12, Rhoda F. 10, all four born in Nebraska, Lela 3 and Henry L. 1 in Washington.
February 1918 "Mr. and Mrs. J. J. May of the Black Wolf,
were surprised host and hostess to a large company of friends
last Sunday who assembled to remind them that it was their 25th
wedding anniversary. The guests brought well-filled baskets of
good things to eat and spent nearly the entire day with
their honored friends. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs.
Jess Beverlin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Beverlin,
Glenn Allan and family, Ed Nevila and family,
Ed Harger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shire and son,
Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Eckberg and family, Robert Smith,
Miss Stella May, and Eddie Heindel."
EDITH'S FAMILY
In 1900 Portage County, Ohio, John Shaffer is a farmer, born M=Nov 1846, Catherine July 1849, Frank August 1882, Nettie Oct 1883, and Edith Feb 1885, all born in Ohio.
Edith was a helper in a candy factory in San Diego in 1910, 25, with John C. 64, Catherine L. 61, Channey J.34, Nettie M. 26, Edith R. 25 and Glen V. 4.
Chauncey was widowed, his first wife Mary Bedell 1879-1907 buried in New Lyme, Ohio # 107803810.
Glen, born August 4, 1904 in Newton Falls to Chanchey Shaffer
and Mary Bedell, died in Pittsburg Nov 16, 1928, to be buried
in Dodgeville Cemetery, New Lyme, Ohio.
John C. Shaffer 1846-1931 is buried in San Diego # 128472437.
So is Catherine L. Shaffer 1849-1921 # 128472394.
BYRON AND EDITH
They married in San Diego, Calif., on February 14, 1918,
In 1920 Vernon precinct, farming, Byron F. is 26, Edith R. 28.
Byron proved up 320 acres in sections 2 and 11, 3S 44W, and 40
acres for Stock in section 11, both in 1920.
July 1929 "B. F. May will sell his personal effects, including an
offering of thoroughbred shorthorn cows and bulls, at public sale
on Tuesday, July 30. Mr. May and family plan to move to Walla Walla,
Washington, following the sale to make their home.
The sale will be held at the J. J. May ranch 15 miles south of Wray.
Anyone interested can obtain a catalog of the thorobred stock
by writing Mr. May.

Byron is a grocery salesman in 1930 Riverside County, California, 35, with Edit Rose 45, Robert L. 8 born in Arizona, and William H. 4 in COlorado.
October 1936 "B. F. May of Wildomar, Calif., was here last week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ekberg near Beecher Island, and at the John Busby home at Saint Francis. Mr. May is a brother of Mrs. Ekberg. Mr. May called at The Rattler office Saturday evening for a brief visit before taking passage on the bus for Denver where he will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. May, and his sister Mrs. Nina Beverlin. Mr. May is a former Yuma county man but he has been residing in California in recent years where he conducts a general merchandise store and is postmaster."
April 1938 "B. F. May and two sons have been visiting the past few days at the John Ekberg home. Mr. May is a brother of Mrs. Ekberg. The May family has been living in California the past eight years but they have recently moved to Fort Collins where they will make their home in the future. The Rattler learns that they selected Fort Collins because of the school advantages offered there."
All four are in Eckley precinct in 1940, farming.
February 1943 "Mrs. J. H. Ekberg and Mrs. B. F. May of Eckley,
returned from Denver Wednesday where they had gone to
attend the Fiftieth Anniversary of Mrs. Ekberg's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. May. Mr. and Mrs. May are former residents of the Beecher island community and we all wish for them many more happy anniversaries."
April 1944 "Mrs. B. F. May returned home to Eckley last Thursday from California where she had been on an extended yisit with her son Robert in the armed forces, and with her mother who resides in that state."
May 1944 Eckley items "Mr. and Mrs. J. J. May
have moved here from Beecher Island and will make their
home with their son B. F. May and family, on the farm southwest of town."
October 1944 " Mrs. B. F. May received word last week that her brother, F’rank Shaeffer had passed away in Alhambra, California last Wednesday, funeral services were on Saturday. Sincere sympathy is extended the May family in their loss. "
May 1949 "James Prater of Washington is visiting his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May."
August 1949 "Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May are enjoying a two weeks'
visit from their nephew, Darrel May, of Denver."
September 1949 "Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Sollenberger of Bell, Calif., visited several days with Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May. The two ladies are sisters. "

1883 in Ohio, died August 28, 1966 in San Bernardino County.)
July 1953 "Mr. and Mrs. Amos Sollenberger of Bell, Calif., were overnight visitors with Mrs. B. F. May last Monday. The two ladies are sisters. "
June 1955 " A birthday barbeque was held at the Bob May home on Sunday with Mrs. Bessie Wilkins, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilkins and Diana of Yuma and Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May of Eckley present."

Edna Vincent and N. O. Mullison married in Yuma County on May 21, 1907.
July 1910 "Homer Wallace, wife and children, from St. Francis, Kansas, visited at the Norma Mullison and L. D. Mullison homes several days of last week. Miss Gladys May, from Armel, came with them. Both girls are sisters of Edna Mullison."
February 1962 "Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May celebrated their
44th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day.
Present for the occasion were Mrs. Bessie Wilkins,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilkins and family, all from Yuma, and
Mr. and Mrs. Bob May and family."
May 1962 "Mr. and Mrs. Bob May and family,
and Mrs. B F. May went to Denver Saturday and brought B. F. May home
from the hospital. He is feeling much better. "
September 1962 "Mr. and Mrs. Ross May of Washington and Mrs. Nina Beverlin of Denver visited last week with their brother. B. F. May. "
October 25, 1962 "Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon
at the Eckley Presbyterian Church for Mrs. B. F. May of Eckley who
died in her sleep early Monday morning. October 22,
at the home of her son. Robert May. Reverend Willis Wisehart
of the Wray Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the
Eckley cemetery. She was 77 years, eight months and 21 days old
at the time of her death.
Mrs. May, the former Edith Shaffer,
was born February 1, 1885, at Edingburg, Ohio. She was married in
San Diego. Calif., on February 14, 1918, to Byron F. May of
Beecher Island community where they established their home
in 1920. For the past several years, Mr. and Mrs. May had made
their home in Eckley where their son resides.
She is survived by her husband and two sons."

March 9, 1972
1958 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hersey entertained at a birthday supper for their daughter, Mrs. Allen Kettering. Tuesday evening. "
"L. Ray Hersey, a widely known farmer of the Beecher Island
community, died at the Wray Community hospital Wednesday night of
last week following a short illness. He suffered a stroke on
October 31, 1958 at his home southeast of Wray and was removed to the
hospital where he was a patient until his death.
Funeral services were held for Mr. Hersey at the Presbyterian church
in Wray Saturday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Robert Bill.
Interment followed at Grandview cemetery.
Mr. Hersey was botn in Vermont on February 26, 1887,
and was 71 years, nine months and seven days old at the time of his
death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two
sisters. He moved with his parents from Vermont to Evans, Colo.,
when he was two years old. He later moved to Denver where he
obtained his education. He moved to Wray in 1925 and was married to
Grace Trembly on December 7, 1927.
Four children were born to them. They made their home on
the Hersey ranch southeast of Wray where he engaged in farming.
He united with the Presbyterian church as a young man in Denver
and was a regular and active member of the Beecher Island Sunday
school, where he organized and was leader of a community
orchestra for several years. He was a member of the IOOF
lodge of Denver. He was an ardent naturalist and was a
field man for the Denver Museum of Natural History. He had made
several gifts of specimens to the Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; his children,
Virginia Rae Wright of Granby, Ben Hersey of Kansas City, Mo.,
Janie Ketterling of Wray and Betty Jean DeWitt of Eckley;
one sister, Rose New of Burbank, Calif., and seven grandchildren."
Grace V. (Hershey) Daniels 1899-1982 is buried in Wray # 62941152.
January 1963 "Mrs. Grace Hersey and Elmer Daniels, well known Wray residents, were married on Monday, January 7, at the Christian Church parsonage in Burlington by the
church pastor. Reverend C. Wendell Tolle. They returned to Wray on the following Wednesday and are now at home on South Lincoln Street."
July 1963 "Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Daniels on Friday evening wer e the latter's daughter, Mrs. Keith DeWitt. and children of Upton, Wyo., Mrs. Clara DeWitt of Eckley and Mrs. Kenneth Vandeford of Haigler. "
August 1963 "Mr. and Mrs. Allan Kettering of Gilette, Wyo., visited on
Saturday at the home of the latter's mother, Mrs. Elmer Daniels, and
were accompanied home by their children. Debra and Terry, who
had come to Wray with Mr. and Mrs. Daniels when they returned
from a week in Wyoming.
All spent the evening at the Ben Trembly home."
BOB
April 1945 "2-C Torpedoman Bob May arrived home Wednesday for a 30
day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May and brother Bill.
Bob has been on active service in the Pacific area aboard a
destroyer, and participated in several major actions.
He will report to San Diego for reassignment on completion
of his furlough. "
June 1948 "Mr. and Mrs. Bob May accompanied by two mother-in-laws, Mrs. B. F. May and Mrs. Bessie Wilkins spent several days the first of last week in Greeley while there Bob attended the state postmaster’s convention. "
August 1950 " Helping Mr. and Mrs. Bob May celebrate their
third wedding anniversity Sunday were Bob's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. May and Roberta's mother, Mrs. Bessie Wilkins of Yuma."
