John H. Cupp , Copper Kettle


John Cupp is a section hand in Kit Carson, Bent County, Colorado in 1880, 23, born in Pennsylvania, both parents born in Pennsylvania.

John proved up a quarter in section 33, 3S 44W in 1896, and timber-claimed one in section 13, 3S 45W in 1900.



In 1900 Lee County, Illinois, John is farming, born Feb 1856 in Pennsylvania, married 19 years to Savilla Dec 1860 ILlinois. She's had six kids, five living.
Henry C. Dec 1881, Hattie C. Feb 1883, Sula M. Oct 1887, Edwin A May 1889 and Gertie Feb 1894 were all born in Illinois.

1921 Dixon Illinois "John H. Cupp left Tuesday for Columbia Falls, Montana, near which place his daughter Mrs. Lulu Burtsfleld, lives, and with whom he will visit a month or more. "

Savilla Alice Miller, born Dec 14, 1859 in Illinois to George Miller and Hetty Shafstale, died in Lee County April 11, 1920.
She's buried in Lee County # 150397028, with John 1856-1935 # 150397165, son of Ruthoph Cupp 1829-1902 and Cathariene Hoover Supp 1836-1913.

Franklin, Illinois "Hattie C. Cupp was born at Dixon, Ill., February 2, 1883. When but a child she moved with her parents to a farm four miles southwest of Franklin Grove, where she resided until her marriage to Mr. Merve Keckler in the year 1902. To this union was born ten children, two preceding their mother in death. The prevalent epidemic visited this family in an unusual degree, afflicting every member of the family at the same time, the mother passing away on Monday evening, December 23, 1918, at the age of 35 years, 10 months and 21 days. She leaves to mourn her loss: her husband, eight children, father and mother, two brothers and two sisters, all of Franklin Grove and vicinity, excepting one sister, Mrs. Lulu Burtsfield of Kalispell, Mont.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cupp of this city. Deceased was a faithful mother in the home, of a cheerful disposition and highly respected by her many friends and neighbors, who mourn her departure to the haven of rest. Particularly, is her death a heavy grief in the family circle, north of town, where the vacant chair of mother cannot be filled.
The remains were brought to this city Thursday, where funeral services were conducted at the home of her parents, by Rev. O. D Buck of the Brethren church, in the afternoon. Interment was made in the local cemetery."


Gertrude Alice Cupp married on January 4, 1912 in Lee County, Ancel Nill Oellig.

She was with him when he registered for WWI in Lee County.

In 1925 Evanston, Illinois Ances and Gertie live at 322 Oakwood Avenue.

In 1940 Cook County, Ansel is 56, Gertie 46, and her moter "Alica" Boardman 67 widowed is with them. Ansel's mother Hannah Youngberg, 90, widowed, is with them, and his daughter Gloraia Thybony, 13 born in Illinois.

Gertie, born Feb 28, 1894, died October 25, 1956. The stone in Franklin Grove cemetery has 1894-1961 # 150391667.


They're in Wilmette, Illinois when he registered for WWII.

Ansel, per one tree, was born March 28, 1883 in Youngstown, Ohio, dying May 1966 in Franklin Grove.

H.W. Cupp was delinquent on taxes for the northwest quarter of 13, 3S 45W in 1925, and Harve W. Cupp in 1937.
