June 15, 1901, Mrs. Lovina Walker, aged 85 years, 5 months and 15 days. Lovina Saylor was born in Juniata county, Pennsylvania, January 1, 1816. She was married to Thomas Walker in 1837. To them were born nine children, six boys and three girls, all of whom survive her except two sons. Those living are Jesse, William and Hiram, who reside here in Nebraska, and who were present at the funeral, and T. G. Walker of Denver, Col., Mrs. Bainter of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mrs. G. H. Sager and Mrs. Jane Lewis, who reside in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Walker with her husband moved from Juniata county to Mifflin county in 1862, where they were engaged in farming until the spring of 1868, when they moved to Odell, Livingston county, Illinois, where they resided till the spring of 1876, when they moved to Nebraska, settling on the northwest quarter of section 5, town 6, range 3, Fillmore county, where they continued to live until her husband died January 25, 1884. After this she made her home with her son, Jesse W. Walker, with whom she had lived ever since. |
