John H. and Clara (Larew) Ransier



Henry Ransier married Elizabeth Easton in Linn County, Iowa March 6, 1868.

In 1870 Benton County, Iowa, Henry and Elizabeth, both 22, have John five months old.

In 1880 Coos County, Oregon, Henry Ransier is 33 - no occupation, Elizabeth 32, with John H. 11 Mary 9, Lydia M. 7, Sarah 6, Catherine 4, and George 2 - all kids born in IOwa.

Henry 1847-1917 is buired in Coos County, # 43305714,. He had three spouses, Elizabeth 1848-1895, Nancy Hanks Snydern 1842-1913 and Mary Ann Walmer Prather 1848-1931.

December 14, 1906 "J. H. Ransier of Portis, Kansas, arrived Wednesday to commence the building on and improving his homestead."

July 5, 1907 "Dr. Bilsborrow reports the arrival Monday of a girl baaby at the home of Mr. and MRs. J.H. Ransier."

John cash-claimed a quarter in 21, 3N 48W in 1908, near a number of other 1890-1891 cash claimants.

March 6, 1908 "Don't forget to attend the Ransier sale next Wednesday."

March 20, 1908 "Ralph Reece met with an accident last week which came nearly proving fatal. While taking a load of furniture from the Ransier sale the spring seat broke throwing him out of the wagon. He was unconscious when found about thirty minutes later by John Herron. He is up and around now none the worse for his accident."

Frank E. Ransier was born in Portis, Kansas November 3, 1892 and died in Fresno, California Decembeber 3, 1961. Surivivors wife Lucile, four sons, and three sisters.

Clara Emma Larew was born 25 Sep 1871 in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska, and died 26 Nov 1948 in Santa Cruz, California.She married John Henry Ransier on 23 Jan 1890 in Coos County, Oregon, son of Henry Ransier and Elizabeth Easton. In 1930 Fresno, California, John H, 61 born in Iowa, Clara E. 58, born in Nebraska and Velma L. 22 born in Colorado have no occupations

Clara Emma Lerew Ransier 1871-1948 died in Santa Cruz, California.


John Henry Ransier born Dec 8, 1868 in Iowa, mother's maiden name Easton, died in Fresno County October 4, 1955.

Both are buried in Fresno #76405256, and Clara #015584249.

In 1940 Glendale, California, Arthur W. Baker is an ion worker, 35, Velma 32, and they have Ross 7, born in California.

1949 Santa Cruz "Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Hollenbeck of Glendale and Mrs. Arthur Baker of Burbank are here visiting J. H. Ransier of 118 Parnell street and Mrs. Nora Kelley of 124 Catalpa. Mrs. Hollenbeck is the daughter of Mrs. Ransier and sister of Mrs. Kelley. Mrs. Baker is a former resident of Santa Cruz."

Velma L. Baker 1907-1973 is buried in Los Angeles County # 149704814. So is Arthur Wesley Baker, 1904-1987 # 14804882.

Calla P. Raniser married George E. York, and they had Raymond Dale York.
She's buried in Santa Curz 1897-1981, # 87418592. "A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto, for former Modestan Calla Perna York, 83, who died Friday in a Watsonville hospital after a sudden illness. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. A native of Kansas, Mrs. York lived in Modesto from 1938 to 1966 when she moved to Watsonville. She had been a member of the Modest Church of the Brethren. Survivors include eight sons, Elvin, Raymond and Robert York, all of Modesto, Kenneth York of Auburn, Harvey York of Sacramento, Harry and Leland York, both of Watsonville, and Ivan York of Downey; three daughters, Ethel Weaver of Modesto, Pearl Street of Washington and Clara Ward of Georgia; 36 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.""
