Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Brock Christian church, with burial near Brock. Mrs. Lockwood was born on September 4, 1856 in a sod house on the farm of her parents, near Julian. She recalled recently that Indians used to come to the sod house home to ask for food. Later the family lived in a log cabin.
On January 4, 1876 she was united in marriage with James Lockwood and the couple lived on a farm between Brock and Julian. Mr. Lockwood died in November, 1916 and Mrs. Lockwood then made her home in the town of Brock.
About six months ago she moved into the home of her son. Mrs. Lockwood had three children, Mrs. Jennie Biggs Snocker of Lincoln, who died in 1939, and Charles Lockwood of Brock and Thomas Lockwood of Omaha. Eight grandchildren, including Boyd C. Biggs and Mrs. 'Lloyd Gates of Lincoln, and several great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. May Morley of Lincoln was a cousin of Mrs. Lockwood. "
