John E. Kirkpatrick



John married Ida M. Gorbet, age 16, in Denver November 8, 1893. Justice of the Peace F.D. Morse performed the ceemony.

John proved up a quarter in 1, 3N 48W in 1894.

In 1902 the Empire Ranch and Cattle Company sued him to claim that quarter.

In 1910 Jefferson County, Colorado, John E. is an ice dealer 43, born in Iowa, married 16 years to May 31 Illinois. Clifford 15, Frank 10, and Irene 8 were all born in Colorado.
John E. Kirkpatrick 1866-1922 is buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with Ida May (Gorbet) Kirkpatrick 1878-1954.

In 1931 Denver, Ida M. Kirkpatrick (wid John E.) is living at 3021 Vallejo.


WILLIAM

Nellie M. Clark married Wiliam E. Kirkpatrick in Scott County, Illinois on October 2, 1890.

In 1900 Scott County, Illinois, William E. Kirkpatrick is farming, born Nov 1860 in Illinois, married nine yeas to Nellie Dec 1870 Illinois, with William Sept 1891 and Edna April 1900 Illinois.

In 1910 Scott County, farming, they have just the two kids.

April 9, 1915 "W.F. Kirkpatrick and family arrived Tuesday from Winchester, Illinois, and are residing on their farm, 8 1-2 miles northeast of Yuma."

In 1920 Scott County, William and Nellie are farming, and Edna - now married to Frank Day 23- is living with them.

William and Nellie are alone in 1930 Scott County.

In 1950 Jacksonville, Illinois, Nellie M. (Wid Wm.E.) is a babysitter , living at 326 S Diamond. So are Albert D. and Bertha (Wid Wm. F.)


FOREST

Mildred Clarinda Sparks, 16, of Abarr, Colorado, married Forest Glen Kirkpatrick on 3 Mar 1934 in Wray, Yuma County, Colorado. Her mother was Sadie M. Sparks, who signed permission on March 3, 1934.

Mildred was in Holt County, Missouri, in 1920, James Sparks 63, Sadie Sparks 44 Wife, Bonnie Embree 12 Daughter, Harlen Embree 9 Son, Ilean Embree 7 Stepdaughter, Darlean Embree 7 Stepdaughter, and Mildred Sparks 0 Daughter.

Mildred was in Page County, Iowa, in 1930, Sadie Emhree, 52, Mildred Sparks 10 Daughter, Bert Kapple 43 Boarder, and William B. Cundiff 31 Boarder.

1933 Yuma

She was in Grundy County, Missouri in 1900, Samuel Boyd 48, Lucy R. Boyd 48 Wife, Henry Boyd 25 Son, Clara Boyd 19 Daughter, Josephine Boyd 13 Daughter, Joseph Boyd 13 Son, Sarah Baker 23 Daughter, Lucy Baker 4 Granddaughter, and Mary Baker 3 Granddaughter.

Sarah Catherine, daughter of Samuel H. Boyd and Lucy Margaret Mott, born 1877, died in 1936, buried in Page County, Iowa, # 111786517.
" Her first husband was Charles Baker with whom she had 2 daughters, Mary A. Baker and Lucy Margaret Baker. After the death of Jake Embree, she married once more, to James M. Sparks, with whom she had 1 daughter, Mildred Clarinda Sparks.

In 1940 Adams County, Iowa, "Faust" Kirkpatrick is 37, Mildred Kirkpatrick 21 Wife, Evelyn Kirkpatrick 5 Daughter, born in Colorado, Betty F. Kirkpatrick 4 Daughter, and Velma Kirkpatrick 2 Daughter.

Funeral services for Mildred C. Haggerty, age 79, were held on June 13, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Creston with Dr. Robert Pickerell officiating. The body was cremated after the service, there will be a private burial at a later date. Services were conducted by the Ritchie Funeral Home of Creston.

Mildred C. Haggerty was born to James M. Sparks and Sarah C. (Boyd) Sparks on July 10, 1919 in Pickering, Missouri. She attended the Creston High School and in March of 1934, at the age of fourteen, she was united in marriage to Forest Kirkpatrick in Yuma, Colorado. By the age of 18, she had three little girls, Evelyn, Betty and Joyce. She married Lawrence Haggerty in February of 1947 in Troy, Kansas and was able to claim the two sons she always longed for, Don and Larry, whom she loved as much as her girls.

Her life was very active and happy. Moving to Arizona, Mildred made many friends and had the experience of a kiss on the cheek by John Wayne. During her stay in Council Bluffs she graduated at the age of 62, at the top of her nurses aid class, and practiced at Mercy Hospital. While in Omaha, Mildred managed several Village Inn Pancake Houses. Moving to Fremont, Nebraska with Joyce she finally retired and joined a senior citizens group and a bowling league. When Joyce's job was downsized in 1992 they moved to Creston where her health started to fail.

Mildred's faith and generosity continued with a coffeepot always on and her brownies became famous throughout town. The family she loved was not only those who lived with her, but included Janice Shepherd and her three sons and their families and Bernie and May White and many too numerous to mention. Mildred and the family greatly appreciated the care she received from Green Valley Hospice.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Don Haggerty and wife Janell of Loveland, Colorado and Larry Haggerty and wife Darlene of Corning; three daughters, Evelyn Schrodt and husband Harold of Murray, Betty Westlake and Joyce Stewart, both of Creston, Ten grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Forest, her parents James and Sarah, six half-sisters and three half brothers Lenox Time Table, Lenox, Iowa Wednesday June 23, 1999



Betty Jo Westlake, 69 of Creston died May 12, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Mrs. Westlake, daughter of Forest and Mildred Kirkpatrick, was born Oct. 27, 1935, in Carl. She graduated from Corning High School and attended Southwestern Community College where she received an associates degree in 1975 and LPN degree in 1977.
In 1953 she married Jim Westlake in Corning and later divorced. She lived most of her life in the Creston area. She worked as a charge nurse at Crest Haven Care Centre for many years and in nursing care at Greater Community Hospital, retiring in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (husband Dennis) Adams; three grandchildren, Stephanie (husband Brian) Wallace, Joe (wife Trisha) Calvin and Cassie Calvin; three sisters, Evelyn (husband Harold) Schrodt of Murray, and Joyce Stewart and Janice Shepherd, both of Creston; 13 grandchildren; and extended family members, Eric, Corena, Mark (wife Erika) and Mannie (wife Shannon) Shepherd.
She was preceded in death by her parents and adopted parents, Alma and Orval Smith.


KIRKPATRICK, Albert D.; b. 8 May 1919, Winchester, IL; d. 12 Jul 1990, Danville, IL (Veterans Admin. Hosp.); bu.: Winchester City Cem.; WWII Veteran; Fa.: William E. Kirkpatrick; Mo.: Bertha Woodall; Survived by two nephews: Jack Hall and Robert Hall; two nieces: Joyce Price and Judy Ingles; and several great-nieces and nephews, all of the St. David area. He is also survived by several cousins in the Jacksonville area; Preceded by a sister: Isabell Hall in 1959; and by an infant brother: Harold.
