Wallace W. Foster



In 1886 Wallace was a witness for the claim of William A. Gardner, along with Frederick Delaforgue, Leonhard Schuck and Alexander I. Meyer, all of Yuma.

Wallace cash-claimed a quarter in 20, 3N 48W in 1890, near a number of other 1890-1891 cash claimants, and another quarter in section 29 in 1892.

He had a record of a homestead in that township, but it wasn't completed.

POSSIBLY IN STERLING COLORADO
1890 Sterling " It will be our aim to please everybody at all times, but we take special pains with our Sunday dinner. The people of the city are earnestly invited to give us a trial. Everything is kept neat and clean and wo arc confident we can give satisfaction to all who favor us. Fresh oysters will be served Sunday evening.

W. W. Foster "


1899 Sterling, Colorado "W. W. Foster returned this morning from Lexington, Neb., and intervening points. He had a successful trip and placed several agents at work selling the Shield's expansible irrigating dam. He will go to points up the river in a few days."

March 2, 1900 "W, W. Foster sent an outfit to Crook this morning to begin operations on his 500 acre contract of breaking sod for the Box J ranch."

June 1900 "George Wilhelmy was in town over Sunday. He has heen cooking for W. W. Foster's breaking outfit on the Box J."

August 1900 Sterling " Mrs. W. W. Foster has completed her Iowa visit and after a short visit with relatives at Nebraska City and York, Neb., she will return to Sterling."

Yuma 1907 "The young man visiting the Scotts and Marleys is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Foster of Longmont."

In 1909 that land was to be sold at auction to pay a note made to Henry J. Aldrich.

POSSIBLY IN ADAMS COUNTY
In 1910 Bennett precinct, Adams County, Colorado, Wallace W. Foster is 57 born in New York, married twice 13 years to Nellie E. 42 England, with Maude E. 11 and Wallace A. V. 9, both born in New York.
In 1913 Nellie E. Bonelli, formerly Nelie E. Foster, widow of Wallace W. Foster, deceased proved up two quarters in Adams County, Colorado.

Nellie E. Foster born about 1866, died September 10, 1925 in Spokane Washington, father Charles Higerson, motheer Ellen Nichols, spouse Wallace Foster.

Wallace W. Foster 1845-1911 is buried in Denver # 33098495 "William Wallace Foster was killed when kicked by a horse at Salida, Chaffee Co., Colorado. He was married three times; first to Jeanette "Nettie" Fox, then to Alice Scott and finally to Ellen "Nelle" Elizabeth Higgerson. "
Wallace Albert Victor Foster 1901-1976 is buried in Spokane # 78698449.

Services for Mrs. Ruth C. Foster 85, who died Monday April 5, 1976 in an Alaskan Airlines jetline crash in Ketchikan, Alaska, are pending at Lienkaemper Chapel in Nyssa, Oregon.

She was born October 14, 1890 in Longmont, Colorado. She was married to W. W. Foster, May 1, 1912 in Boulder, Colorado and came to Nyssa as a bride. She was very active in community affairs. She helped organize the local PTA, was a member of the Women’s Civic Club and a member of the Malheur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Religious activities were no small part of Mrs. Foster’s energetic life, having joined the Methodist Church at the age of ten. She was a mother of eight children and an Oregon Mother of the Year in 1958.

Surviving are her husband W. W. Foster; three sons, Howard Foster of Colusa, California, Curtis Foster of Burbank, California and the Rev. Tom Foster of Madras, California, four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Crete) Sager of Nyssa, Mrs. Harold (Margaret Eleanor) Torgerson, Fox Home, Minnesota, Frances Foster of Pakistan, and Mrs. Charles (Grace) Wilson, Juneau, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Morris (Helen) Bowie, of Swathamore, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Crete Dever of Boulder, Colorado; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and one child, Phyllis Esther, January 1933.
