Peter J. Bermond



"Heirs of Peter J. Bermond" timber-claimed a quarter in 1, 3N 48W in 1891, next to a cash-claim of George E. Bermont in 1891 in section 9.

Emma was delinquent on taxes on that land in 1905.

Peter J. Bermond 1856-1892, buried in Lanark, Illinois (where a lot of Yuma people came, inlcuding the Gashaw and Tribbett families.
One tree said he was born in McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pennsylvainia, and his father died September 1868 in McConnellsburg. The tree said he died in Yuma County.

Emma C. Bermond proved up a quarter in 9, 3N 48W in 1894 - touching George's 1891 claim.

Emma, born March 7, 1849 in Lanark, died June 19, 1934 in Rockford, Illinois. Parents wee William and Emma C. Grisinger.

In 1900 Carroll County, Illinois, Emma is widowed, b with Eveline B. Jan 1887, Lola A. May 1890, and Clara M. May 1892, all born in Illinois. They're living with her father William Grisinger Feb 1819 Pennsylvania, widowed a capitalist.

In 1910 Carroll County, Emma is 57, and Lola 19 and Clara 17 were both born in COlorado. William 91 is still with them.

In 1920 Rockford, Illinois, Emma is 60, Lola A. 29, Clara 27 both bookkeepers, and her brother William 54 - a commercial traveler - is with them.
Lola 1890-1940 is buried in Lanark.

Lanark, Illiois
Mrs. Conrad Lamp, one or the best known and best loved old ladies of Lanark, died very suddenly at her home in that city last Wednesday evening, from the effects of a paralytic stroke which seized her at 7:15 and fnm which death resulted at 7:45, a short half hour later. It was her third stroke, two similar seizures having been successfully combatted. Mrs. Lamp had lived in this community for nearly fifty years and her fine Christian character and unfailing kindness and courtesy made friends of all with whom she came in contact. To her children and the close friends who knew her best the memory of her life will prove a perpetual inspiration. Martha Bermond was born at McConnellsburg, Pa., February 3, 1833, and died at her home in Lanark May 2 1917, aged 84 years 2 months and 29 days. She was married to Conrad Lamp, March 13 185G, in Mercenburg, Pa. To this union were born seven children: John D., of Hastings, Neb ; Katherine M. Brown, H:n; )n, la ; MameE. Me, Merrill, la.; William H., who died May 2J, 1916; Anna B., died December 5, 1897; Emma M. Aians, and George C, of Lanark, Illinois.
She is also survived by two brothers, Daniel Bermond, of Harvard, Neb., and Henry of McConnellsburg, Pa. Mrs. Lamp spent her childhood and the first thirteen years of her married life in Pennsylvania, moving to Lanark on the Lamp farm in 189G, where she lived till 1901. She has since lived in Lanark. The deceased united with the Reformed Church at McConnellsburg Pa., in 1852 and lived a t:: latent christian life.
November 27, 1914 she was stricken with paralysis and has been an invalid ever since, but her christian life shined forth in - iina and loving patience.
She was laid to rest in Lanark cemetery on Saturday afternoon, beside the remains of her husband who passed away in 1906. All the chiL ( were present at the funeral, which was held at her home on East Locust street, and conducted by her pastor, Rev.

This is a brother - the Jacob must be Peter Jacob Bermond - who settled in Clay County, Nebaska.





Daniel Bermond of Harvard Nebraska, died in September 1942.

There's a George E. Bermont dying November 9, 1947, buried in Boulder # 11101034, with Catherine Jones Bermont dying 1939.
This one was a merchant in Boulder in 1900, born July 1867 in Pennsylvania, married eight years to Catherine July 1870 Ohioio. Her sister Anna Jones Oct 1867 Ohio is with them, and her mother Catherine Jones Nov 1834 England, niece Pearl Moeman Oct 1881 Ohio.
In 1904 George E. Bermont was a defendant, along with L.B. Beach, Ernest Diffendefer, Ira J. Kirkpatrick, Susie D. Gage, H.P. Law, Oswald Oliver, Flora and Sylvanus Aldich, Asa Reed, M. Estes, Elbert Higgins, Srah M. Hayden, Wallace N. Herbert and Eliza Tibbetts. for land in 1N 47W, 4N 48W, and 3N 48W.
He was active in Lafayette, Colorado


When sister Clara McCune died in 1939, it mentions brothers Geoge of Lafayette (INDIANA, meaning Lafayette, Colorado.

This February 3, 1941 from Hagerstown, Maryland mentios two of George's sisters.
"Mrs. Elizabeth S. Leonard, widow of James Leonard, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Margaret Chilcote, 125 Roessner avenue, on Saturday evening at 7:15 o'clock of complications, after an illness of three years, aged 65. She was born and reared in Chambersburg, Pa., the daughter of George and Clara Gilbert Bermont. She was postmistress at Jeannette, Pa., for 30 years and retired three years ago when she came to live with her sister. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are: sister, Mrs. Chilcote and brother, George E. Bermont, Lafayette, Colorado. The body was removed to the A. K. Coffman Funeral Home where services will be held. Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock with the Hev. J. E. Kemp Horn officiating, assisted by Rev. Wm. M. Huddle The body will be taken to Jeannette, Pa., on Tuesday morning where services will be held Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be made in St. Clare cemetery at Greensburg, Pa. "
