Morgan and Lucinda (Barr) Lavering, John E. and Rosa (Walker) Lavering

Morgan Lavering and Lucinda Bair married in Whitley County, Indiana on March 1, 1873.

In 1880 Whitley County, Indiana, Morgan Leavering is a farmer, 29, with Lucina 27, Laura 5, Rebecca A. 2, and Charles three months. His father H.R. 51 and John 16 are in the same house, but separate.

Harvey 1820-1887 died in Whitley County, # 38691540.

Harvey R. and Rebecca (Dye) Lavering were both natives of Ohio, coming to Whitley County in the 1850's. Their six children to reach maturity were Charles D. of Kansas, Morgan of Colorado, Lucritia (wife of Isaac Hively of Thornreek, Mazie wife of John S Iler of Thorncreek, and John of Colorado Springs.
"John Simon Tier, past 94 years old, died at 11:30 a.m. today at the home of his daughter at Tri Lakes. Tie had been in failing health for six months and was bedfast since last Wednesday. He was born in Preble county, Ohio, on March IB, 1857 and was a son of Joshua and Marian Paulus Her. He lived at Tri Lakes since 1945 and for 29 years prior to that time resided on the Squawbuck road in Columbia township. On March 24, 1889 he was married to Miss Mazy Lavering Strong who died Sept. 16, 1950. Mr. Her was a carpenter and threshing machine operator Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Walter R. Hively at whose home Mr. Her resided. Five grandchildren, 8 grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild survive. Four sisters and five brothers are dead ring. Four sisters and five brothers are dead Mrs. Ruth Anna Fisher, the only other daughter, died June 24, 1932. A sister, Mrs. Alice Selby, Marrow, Ohio, is living.
Isaac Hively, lifelong resident of Thorncreek township, died at his home which is just across the road from his birthplace, Friday forenoon at 9:40 o'clock. He had been ailing for a long time and had not been away from his house but once since Decoration day. For the past five or six weeks he has been practicaly bedfast. The deceased came upon the scene of action in Whitley county when the county was very primitive and new and he played his full part in the transformation which the years have brought about. He was a highly respected  citizen who made his influence felt during his long life of 84 years, 3 months and 9 days. He was a son of Daniel and Catherine Egolf Hively and was born in Thorncreek township, June 10, 1843. In 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucretia Lavering, who was a native of Ohio. She survives although she is in feeble health. There were four children, one of them, Mrs. Ida Sauers, preceeding her father in death. The surviving children are Mrs. William S. Chapman, of Thorncreek township, Mrs. Jesse Smith, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs Otto Foster, of this city. There are fourteen grandchildren and sixteen Great-grandchildren. Isaac Hively was one of a family of twelve, but all of them except one have now passed to their eternal reward. The youngest, Mrs. Sarah Linley, of Missouri, alone survives. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home and the interment will be made in the Hively cemetery.   LUCRETIA LAVERING October 01, 1865.  She was born 1847 in Whitley County  Indiana, and died 1929 in Whitley County  Indiana.



Be it known that we, MORGAN LAVERING and ELI H. ANSPAUGH, citizens of the United States, residing at Columbia City, in the county of Whitley and State of Indiana, have jointly invented a new and useful Improvement in Grain-Separators, of which the following is a specification. Our invention relates to the means employed for separating the thrashed grain from the straw and chaff; and the object of our invention is to effect such separation thoroughly, expeditiously, and economically. WVe attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a detailed side and top View in perspective of the entire machine. Fig. 2 represents a grain cell-head. Fig. 3 represents a cell-bar with a cell-head attached to each end thereof. Fig. 4 shows a grain-cleat, and Fig. 5 shows a grain-stop. "

Morgan Levering is a day laborer in Washington County, Colorado in 1900, born April 1852 in Indiana, with Lucina July 1854 Ohio. She's had eight kids, five living. George June 1864 in Indiana, Velorus Nov 1891 and Joseph Oct 1899 were born in Colorado. (Morgan is also in the Denver census, living with daughter Laura Lee.)

Morgan Lavering timber-claimed a quarter in section 10, 3N 44W in 1904.

January 1898 Akron, when Frank was killed in the Akron train yards, "a messenger in the person of Hugh Black, was sent out to bear the unwelcome news to his wife at J. V. Fleming's ranch, some fifteen miles out."

Hugh C. Black and Rebecca A. Lavering married in Washington County, Colorado on November 30, 1899.

In 1900 Akron, H.C. Black is a stock grower, born Feb 1868 in Pennsylvania, married seven months to Anna R. May 1877 Indiana.

Anna R. (Lavering) Black, 1877-1902 is buried in Washington County, Colorado # 70093790 "wife of Hugh C. Black.

Hugh C. Black and Julia L. Baxter married on September 2, 1905, recorded in Denver.

1908 Yuma, Colorado " Bob Northcott and Hugh Black came down from Akron yestrday in their International Harvester."

Hugh Black of Akron attended the Knights (Templar) convention in Denver in 1913.

April 1914 Akron "The many friends of the Hugh Black family will regret to know they are contemplating moving from Akron on or about May 1."

June 12, 1914 Akron "Mr. Lavering, formerly a citizen of Akron, but now óf Denver, visited for several days this week with Hugh Black and family. He is Mary Black's grandfather."

Mary Agnes Wood 1900-1990 is buried in Akron # 74853851, with Clifford Wood 1891-1970.

Hugh C. Black 1868-1929 is buried in Lusk Wyoming # 69133178.
"Hugh Cunningham Black was born at Dorseyville, Pa., February 2, 1868. His father died when Hugh was but 14 years old, and as a young man Mr. Black went to Washington, Iowa and then later on to California, where he spent two and a half years. Returning to Colorado, he settled in Washinton County, where he became clerk of Washington county, from 1904 to 1910.
On September 2, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia L. Baxter of Holbrook, Nebraska. They were married in Denver, the ceremony being performed by a classmate of Mr. Black's uncle. For thirteen years the family resided at Akron, Colo., and then moved to Warren, Wyo., where they have since resided. Eleven children were born to this union, all of whom survive their father. They are: Hugh C. Black, Jr., of Warren; Robert S. Black of Denver, Colo.; Lucile Moran of Roxon, Wyo.; Mrs. Elizabeth Kelsey of Warren. Three daughters, Geneve, Gladys and Julia, four boys, James, LeRoy, Charles and Arthur, who are at home with their mother. There is another daughter by a former marriage. Mrs. Mary Wood, of Sacramento, Cal."

"Julia L. Black was born in Clairmont, Mo., February 12, 1882. The daughter of Benjamin and Emaline Baxter. She moved with her parents to Holbrook, Nebr. in 1886 where she grew to womanhood.

She taught two years in rural schools near Akron, Colo. September 2, 1905 she married Hugh C. Black and they made their home in Akron until 1918. They homesteaded in the northern part of Niobrara County in 1919 where she lived until moving to Lusk seven years ago.

She was a life member of the Martha Washington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Akron, treasurer of the Silver Cliff Chapter of War Mothers, a member of the Congregational Church and the Circle.

Survivors include eleven children, six sons and five daughters; Mary Wood, Sacramento, Calif.; Hugh Black, Harlowton, Mont.; Robert Black, Lusk; Elizabeth Beck, Blackduck, Minn.; Geneve Hammill, Edgemont; Gladys Rumney, Edgemont; Julia Cook, Hat Creek; James Black, Great Falls, Mont.; Leroy Black, Bright; Charles Black, Blanding, Utah; and Arthur Black, Hat Creek. "


Morgan and Lucinda are in Denver in 1910, with Harvey G. 25, Valorus 18, and Joseph 10.




Lucinda is in Denver in 1920, living with son Harvey L. , 35, divorced. Harvey's sister Laura M. Lee, 44 born in Indiana is with them.

Morgan, 62 is also in Denver in 1920, living in a rooming house.

Morgan died in Denver February 24, 1920.

Lucinda, born July 17, 1851 in Stark County Ohio to George Bair and Rebekah Shook, widow of Morgan Lavering, died in Whitley County, Indiana September 6, 1921, to be buried in Egoff Cemetery.

Valorous Monroe Lavering, born December 25, 1891 in Colorado, died April 6, 1990 in Los Angeles County.

He registered for WWII in Woodland Park, Colorado, born December 25, 1892 in Wray, Colorado, an aircraft mechanic in Colorado Springs. His reference was Evelyn Derby oof Woodland Park.

One husband, Hugo M. Amrhein 1905-1984 is buried in Fort Logan.

Alice Aileen Lavering 1922-1996 married William Oshia and they're in Teller County in 1940, William 21 born in Missouri, Aileen 17 in Illinois.

Frances Louise Hensley, born in Colorado February 22, 1925, died in Los Angeles May 14, 1991.
Frances Louise Reise married William P. Hensley in Las Vegas January 26, 1957, aNd divorced in Los Angeles in February 1970.


Bertha's first husband was James Harper Vaught, 1892-1937 buried in Mountainburg, Arkansas.

Harvey George Lavering, born June 24, 1884 at Columbia City, Indiana, registered in 1942 in Denver, working for Continental Oil, with Mary Mitchell of the same address as a reference.
SSI has him dying September 26, 1940.


Ruth O. Dickerson and Joseph E. Lavering married in Denver on December 31, 1924.

In 1930 Gardner, Colorado, Joseph E. Lavering is married to Ruth O., both 29, with Howard S. 4 and Darrell W. 1. Brother Harvey G. Lavering 45 is with them.
Both are auto mechanics.

Ruth Lavering is widowed in 1940 Contra Costa County, California, 40, with Howard 13, Darrell 10, and Loraly 7,, all born in Colorado. They're living with Ruth's brother William 28 and their mother Ada 69, widowed, both born in Colorado.
In 1900 Denver, Ervin Lee born August 1869 in Iowa is a railroad conductor, married seven years to laura D. June 1874 Indiana. Edwin June 8193 and Laura L. Nov 1899 were born in Colorado. Morgan Lavering born May 1852 in Indiana is with them, a day laborer.
Mrs. Laura May Lee married Joe Conley in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma on November 10, 1926.

"Howard S. Lavering Born Denver, Colorado Nov. 24, 1925 - Feb. 18, 2011 Resident of Antioch Survived by wife Gertrude of 59 years; children Ryan (Barbara) and Randy (Pam); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He served in the US Navy then worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver for his entire career. He loved racing, camping, working on cars and golf. Most of all he enjoyed people and loved sharing stories. No services are planned at his request. Dad - We will miss you every day, keep it under 80."

John E., " b. Dec. 21, 1864; unmarried - in 1884 he removed to Wray, Yuma Co., Colo., where he resides on a farm. " "

John proved up a quarter in section 3, 3 North 44 West, in 1892, and timber-claimed another in section 4 in 1903.

John E. "Levering", 29, married Rosa E. Walker, 21 on December 20, 1894 in Colorado Springs.

Rosa's mother Jemima Jane (Hoover) Walker 1833-1905 "Daughter of Christopher Hoover and Elizabeth Brookshire Hoover. Died while visiting in Colorado Springs, Colorado"
She and James Walker 1812-1883 are buried in Sullivan County, Missouri.


In 1900 Colorado Springs, J. E. is a laborer, born Dec 1865, married six years to Rose Feb 1874 Misouri. Pearl Augsut 1897 and Harry July 1898 were born in Colorado.

In 1905 Colorado Springs John E. Lavering is a laborer, with Rosie E. living at 114 W. Rio Grande.

In 1910 Colorado Springs, John is 45, born in Indiana, with Rosa 38 Missouri. Pearl E. is 13, Harry D. 11, Maude 8, and Mabel 2, all four born in Colorado.

In 1920 Colorado Springs, John is 55, Emma 46, and Mable 12.
John and Emma are alone in 1930 Colorado Springs.

John Elmer Lavering 1864-1931 is buried in Colorado Springs # 35063579, with Rosa Emma (Walker) Lavering 1873-1938.

Rose Emma Lavering died at the home of her daughter in Pueblo on March 23, 1938.

PEARL
Pearl E. Lavering, 21, married Arlie O. Rector on October 14, 1917 in Colorado Springs.

They had Richard Dale Rector on May 21, 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado. He's buried in Scottsdale, Arizona 1920-2004 # 144606686..

In 1940 Pueblo, Arlie is 51, Pearl E. 42, and R. Dale 20.

Arlie O. Rector 1889-1953 is buried in Pueblo # 145696315, with Pearl 1896-1986.
She might be the Pearl Overman or Pearl Canaday in the Pueblo library index, both dying in 1986.

HARRY

Harry D. Lavering and Ida R. Wharton had Charles Warren Lavering on January 17, 1930 in Colorado Springs. Charles is buried in Santa Fe National 1930-1998 # 905676.

In 1940 Venice, California, Harry is a plasterer 41, Ida Ruth 29, both born in Colorado. Glen is 15, born in California, Robert 12 and Charles 4 in Colorado. All were in Colorad Springs in 1935.

Harry D. Lavering, born July 2, 1898, died in Los Angeles County July 19, 1977.

Ida R. Lavering 1900-1994 is buried in Inglewood, Californa # 78085876.

Glenn E. Lavering, 26, married Patricia J. Foster on May 12, 1951 in Los Angeles.

Robert Elmer Lavering 1926-2008 is buried in Riverside County # 10615521.

MAUDE

Maude V. Lavering married Fred C. Yerigan on September 22, 1917 in Canon City, Colorado.
They're in Kansas City, Missouri in 1920, Fred C. 23 and Maud 18.

Yvonne Vivette Yerigan Hatfield was born Jan 1, 1921 in Colorado Springs, dying in 1979 in Las Vegas, # 24903025, buried with Charles Hatfield.
