Morgan Lavering and Lucinda Bair married in Whitley County, Indiana on March 1, 1873.
In 1880 Whitley County, Indiana, Morgan Leavering is a farmer, 29,
with Lucina 27, Laura 5,
Rebecca A. 2, and Charles three months.
His father H.R. 51 and John 16 are in the same house, but separate.
Harvey 1820-1887 died in Whitley County, # 38691540.
Harvey R. and Rebecca (Dye) Lavering were both natives of Ohio,
coming to Whitley County in the 1850's. Their six children to reach maturity
were Charles D. of Kansas, Morgan of Colorado,
Lucritia (wife of Isaac Hively of Thornreek,
Mazie wife of John S Iler of Thorncreek, and John of Colorado Springs.
"John Simon Tier, past 94 years old, died at 11:30 a.m. today at the home of his daughter at Tri Lakes. Tie had been in failing health for six months and was bedfast since last Wednesday. He was born in Preble county, Ohio, on March IB, 1857 and was a son of Joshua and Marian Paulus Her. He lived at Tri Lakes since 1945 and for 29 years prior to that time resided on the Squawbuck road in Columbia township. On March 24, 1889 he was married to Miss Mazy Lavering Strong who died Sept. 16, 1950.
Mr. Her was a carpenter and threshing machine operator Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs Walter R. Hively at whose home Mr. Her resided. Five grandchildren, 8 grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild survive.

Mrs. Ruth Anna Fisher, the only other daughter, died June 24, 1932. A sister, Mrs. Alice Selby, Marrow, Ohio, is living.
Isaac Hively, lifelong resident of Thorncreek township, died at his home which is just across the road from his birthplace, Friday forenoon at 9:40 o'clock. He had been ailing for a long time and had not been away from his house but once since Decoration day. For the past five or six weeks he has been practicaly bedfast.
The deceased came upon the scene of action in Whitley county when the county was very primitive and new and he played his full part in the transformation which the years have brought about. He was a highly respected citizen who made his influence felt during his long life of 84 years, 3 months and 9 days.
He was a son of Daniel and Catherine Egolf Hively and was born in Thorncreek township, June 10, 1843. In 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucretia Lavering, who was a native of Ohio. She survives although she is in feeble health. There were four children, one of them, Mrs. Ida Sauers, preceeding her father in death. The surviving children are Mrs. William S. Chapman, of Thorncreek township, Mrs. Jesse Smith, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs Otto Foster, of this city. There are fourteen grandchildren and sixteen Great-grandchildren.
Isaac Hively was one of a family of twelve, but all of them except one have now passed to their eternal reward. The youngest, Mrs. Sarah Linley, of Missouri, alone survives.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home and the interment will be made in the Hively cemetery.

Be it known that we, MORGAN LAVERING and ELI H. ANSPAUGH,
citizens of the United States, residing at Columbia City, in the county of
Whitley and State of Indiana, have jointly invented a new and useful Improvement in
Grain-Separators, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to the means employed for separating the thrashed grain from the straw and chaff; and the object of our invention is to effect such separation thoroughly, expeditiously, and economically. WVe attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a detailed side and top View in perspective of the entire machine. Fig. 2 represents a grain cell-head. Fig. 3 represents a cell-bar with a cell-head attached to each end thereof. Fig. 4 shows a grain-cleat, and Fig. 5 shows a grain-stop. "

Hugh Black of Akron attended the Knights (Templar) convention in Denver in 1913.
April 1914 Akron "The many friends of the Hugh Black family will regret to know
they are contemplating moving from Akron on or about May 1."
June 12, 1914 Akron "Mr. Lavering, formerly a citizen of Akron, but now
óf Denver, visited for several days this week with Hugh Black and family.
He is Mary Black's grandfather."

"Hugh Cunningham Black was born at Dorseyville, Pa., February 2, 1868. His father died when Hugh was but 14 years old, and as a young man Mr. Black went to Washington, Iowa and then later on to California, where he spent two and a half years. Returning to Colorado, he settled in Washinton County, where he became clerk of Washington county, from 1904 to 1910.
On September 2, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia L. Baxter of Holbrook, Nebraska. They were married in Denver, the ceremony being performed by a classmate of Mr. Black's uncle. For thirteen years the family resided at Akron, Colo., and then moved to Warren, Wyo., where they have since resided. Eleven children were born to this union, all of whom survive their father. They are: Hugh C. Black, Jr., of Warren; Robert S. Black of Denver, Colo.; Lucile Moran of Roxon, Wyo.; Mrs. Elizabeth Kelsey of Warren. Three daughters, Geneve, Gladys and Julia, four boys, James, LeRoy, Charles and Arthur, who are at home with their mother. There is another daughter by a former marriage. Mrs. Mary Wood, of Sacramento, Cal."
"Julia L. Black was born in Clairmont, Mo., February 12, 1882. The daughter of Benjamin and Emaline Baxter. She moved with her parents to Holbrook, Nebr. in 1886 where she grew to womanhood.
She taught two years in rural schools near Akron, Colo. September 2, 1905 she married Hugh C. Black and they made their home in Akron until 1918. They homesteaded in the northern part of Niobrara County in 1919 where she lived until moving to Lusk seven years ago.
She was a life member of the Martha Washington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Akron, treasurer of the Silver Cliff Chapter of War Mothers, a member of the Congregational Church and the Circle.
Survivors include eleven children, six sons and five daughters; Mary Wood, Sacramento, Calif.; Hugh Black, Harlowton, Mont.; Robert Black, Lusk; Elizabeth Beck, Blackduck, Minn.; Geneve Hammill, Edgemont; Gladys Rumney, Edgemont; Julia Cook, Hat Creek; James Black, Great Falls, Mont.; Leroy Black, Bright; Charles Black, Blanding, Utah; and Arthur Black, Hat Creek.

He served in the US Navy then worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver for his entire career. He loved racing, camping, working on cars and golf. Most of all he enjoyed people and loved sharing stories. No services are planned at his request. Dad - We will miss you every day, keep it under 80."
