Thomas W. and Grace (Smedley) Crum

THOMAS' FAMILY

Mary A. Hall married William H. H. Crum on December 19, 1878 in Clark County, Inidiana.

In 1880 Clark County, William H. "Crane" is 25, Mary 22, with Cora B. one month.
William Henry Harrison Crum 1855-1894 is buried in Scott County, Indiana # 20714668.

(Cora Blanche (Crum) Staten 1880-1962 is buried in Hickory County, Missouri # 5058519.

In 1905 Woodson County, Kansas, Thomas Crum is 15, Weaver 24, Rachel 17, and Emma 10. They're with J.W. Vest 62 and Mary A. 45. Marion Vest is 37, Mead 9, adn Ester 6.
In 1910 Thomas, 20, born in Indiana, is a private at Fort Washington, Piscataway, Maryland.

GRACE'S FAMILY

In 1895 Phillips County, Kansas, George Smedley is 47, with Mary 40, both born in Indiana.
Louis 18, Willie 15, Maud 12, Emma 10, Dora 8, and Grace 5 were all born in Kanss.

In 1900 Phillips County, Mary is widowed, born March 1858, with Lucinda Aug 1876, William W. Aug 1880, Maud May, Sept 1883, Emma Feb 1885, Dora Feb 1888, Grace B. Aug 1890, and Hazel Nov 1895.

Mary is still widowed in 1905 Phillips County, 50, with Wm. 24, Maud 20, Dora 18, Grace 14, and Ethel 10.

In 1910 Phillips County, Mary is 55, William A. 29 is farming, Grace 19, and Ethel 14.

Emma married Henry Raymond Biddinger and homesteaded a mile from the Crum claim.



THOMAS AND GRACE

In 1915 Concord, Ford County, Kansas, T.W. Crum is 35, G.B. 24, and Irene 1. They're living with J.T. Hall, 55.

Thomas registered for WWI in Yuma County, born Feb 9, 1890 at Underwood, Indiana, with a wife and two children, farming.

Thomas proved up 320 acres in section 11, 3 North 44 West, in 1919, next to Newton J. Carlock, also 1919.
Witnesses were Newton J. Carlock, Daniel Bocock, Ed Dillon, and Henry R. Bidenger, all of Wray.

March 18, 1920 "Dr. Ham reports that the stork express left a baby boy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Crum, ten miles southwest of Yuma, on Monday, March 15."

This is likely the Floyd Elmer Crum dying 1921, buried in the Yuma cemetery, 1920-1921 # 48944872.


In 1920 Yuma County, Yuma precinct - about twenty miles west of his claim, Thomas is 39, with Grace D. 29 born in Kansas. Obretta Irene, 6, George Harrison Crum 4, and Mary Maline Crum 2, all three born in Kansas.

T. W. had bought a quarter in 1N 48W - near Yuma, borrowing the money from John Patton, and it was to be sold at auction in 1922.

Thomas is a street-car conductor in 1930 Los Angeles, 40, with Grace B. 39, Opretta I. 16, Harrison G. 14, Mary M. 12, and Betty L. 1.
Robert L. Duncan is a boarder, 3, born in California.

Thomas is a carpenter helper in 1940 Whittier, California, 50, with Grace 49, Robert 13, and Betty 11.

Thomas Warren Crum, dying Nov 22, 1967 in Contra Costa County, mother Hall, is buried in Whittier, California, # 123053556, with Grace Bertha Crum 1890-1965 # 123053535. Her parents George H. Smedley 1848-1899 and Mary Ellen Smedley 1855-1910 are buried in Agra, Phillips County, Kansas.
ROBERT

Robert Leroy Crum 1927-1986 is buried in Riverside National # 82463074 Navy WWII, Korea.

OBRETTA

Obretta Irene was born April 21, 1913 at Osawatome, Kansas, name as Crawford in 1940, Slusher in 1979

MARY

Mary Maxine Crum was born Nov 29, 1917 in Yates, Kansas, father Tom Crum, mother Grace Binager per SSDI, but Grace Smedley in the California death index, dying October 18, 1987 as Mary Moran.

HARRISON

Harrison Crum is in Contra Costa County in 1940, 24, with Wyonoma, 16. They're living with Wynono's parents Raymond 54 and Emma 55Biddinger.

George Harrison Crum, born April 24, 1915 in Kansas, died in Contra Costa County Sept 27, 1974.


"Wynona Belle Crum, 92, a native of Colorado, (February 15, 1924-February 15, 2016) who was a Rio Vista resident for the last 3 years, died Monday, February 15th at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Sacramento of a short illness. Wynona was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison. She is survived by her two sons, Allen (Jan) of Rodeo, Greg (Joanne) of Rio Vista, and a daughter Janice of Wilmington, CA, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Hosselkus Chapel, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 12 in Crockett, CA. There will be a gathering at St. Mark's Hall following the service. "
