John W. Moore, Laird




Lucius D. Hartson of near Anselmo, Nebraska, died on January 18, 1912. He was born on September 6, 1821 in Mansfield, Connecticut, and was 90 years, 4 months, and 12 days of age at the time of his death. On January 15, 1843, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Robinson of Lenoxville, Pennsylvania and nine children were born to them. One daughter died in infancy, and a son, N.W. Hartson died only a few years before his father's death. Mr. Hartson grew up at Mansfield , Connecticut. He and his wife moved to Susquehanna, Pennsylvania for a few years, and then moved to Chickasaw County, Iowa where they resided for 16 years. After the children were grown, they moved then to Smith County, Kansas, and it is where his wife died. When he was a young man 30 years of age, he joined the Universalist Church. He was a good Christian man. He is survived by his children, J.B. Hartson of Milburn, Nebraska, Riley H. Hartson of Seattle, Washington, J.D. Hartson of Charles City, Iowa, Mrs. Julia Parker of Lemmon, South Dakota, Mrs. Elsie Moore of Riverton, Nebraska, H. R. Hartson of Hastings, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lucy Culver of Lawrence, Kansas. He also leaves a host of relatives near Franklin County, where he is buried by his wife and others. He also leaves other relatives elsewhere.


In 1900 Franklin County, Nebraska, John W. Moore is a day laborer, born Aug 1856 Iowa, married 21 years to Elsie A. Nov 1863 Michigan. Harris Feb 1888, Nettie A July 1889, John R. Oct 1892, Ethel N. Oct 1895, and Earl Apr 1900 were all born in Nebraska.

In 1901 John Moore registered a brand for his ranch 13 miles south west of Holyoke, with a P.O. address of Holyoke.

November 2, 1911 "Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Thomas of Riverton, Nebraska, who have been visiting the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Moore, of north of Wray for the last month returned to their home last Monday. "
1912 "Mr. and Mrs. John Moore are enjoying a visit from their son and his family."

In 1914 the Yuma County Commissioners paid $5.00 for car fare for Ivy Moore to Riverton, Nebraska.


In December 1916, M.M. Bulkeley was the administrator of the estate of John W. Moore, deceased.
John W. Moore proved up 320 acres in 2, 21, and 29, 3N 43W in 1917. In 1920 that land was owned by .N .Wilkins.


Elsie A. (Hartson) Moore -1857-1919 is probably buried in Franklin County, Nebraska.
