Edward and Connie McCoale brothers, Heartstrong
Susanna McCole McCauley O'Hara (1848-1936), was
a daughter of William McCole and Catherine Lyons, Ballykilduff near Ardara, Donegal.
Susanna married Hugh McCauley and had six children, James, Katie, Mary, William, Hugh, and Patrick. After Hugh died in Pennsylvania, she joined her brothers Patrick and Con in Nebraska. There she married Dennis O’Hara, father of her last son, Felix O’Hara, and lived near Hastings.
There's an Edward "Coal" in 1900 Smith County, Kansas, no age or occupation,
boarding with the Herman Grauerholtz family on a farm.
In 1900 Smith County, Pat "McCoole" born Sept 1864 in Ireland, with brother Connia April 1870 Ireland.
Patrick immigrated in 1881, Connie in 1897. Both are farming.
1912 Yuma County "Leroy Upp and family, ANdrew Upp, EP McCoale, Ina Shaw and Norah Dunn wall were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Claude J. Dunno n Chirstmas Day.
"Leroy Upp and wife, Claude Dunn and wife, Miss Irene Shaw, the McCoale brothers, P. Watson adn Andrew Upp, who have been out here from Smith COunty, Kansas, all dined with Miss Nora Dunn on last Sunday."
November 21, 1912 "Ed McCole and Art Howard from
southwest were through Vernon Monday to Wray to make
final proof on on their homesteads."
Hugh's two uncles, Ed and Con McCoale, homesteaded joining the Hugh McCauley land.
August 1913 "Messrs. Con and Ed McCoale were in Eckley on last Thursday
transacting business. C. J. Dunne and wife and the McCoale brothers were
the guests of Hugh McCouley last Sunday."
August 1913 "Percy Matson moved his residence last Friday from the
west to east of his farm, thereby bringing him closer to school and church.
McCoale brothers did the work."
October 1913 "Hugh McCauley had two carpenters, Art Howard and Ed M. Cole, a couple of days last week, improving his house."
Con proved up two quarters in section 32, 2S 46W in 1916. Edward proved up two quarters in sections 28 and 33 in 1915.
January 13, 1916 "Mr. Thomas Kirk, who was residing
with his son, Jno. Kirk, on the Ed McCole ranch southeast
of Mildred, died on Thursday of last week,
death resulting from paralysis. Mr. Kirk was born in
Delaware, Iowa, on December 10th 1851, being sixty-five
years of age. He had just returned a few days prior to
his death from a trip to Nebraska, where he and his
wife had been visiting a daughter. The funeral was held
at Vernon on Friday, Rev. White preaching the sermon,
interment was at Glendale cemetery." # 81819826.
February 10, 1916 "Ed McCole, of Mildred, is in Wray
this week, taking the sulphur baths."
Eva Dunn proved up on two quarters in 4 and 9, 3S 46W in 1914, witnesses Roy Upp,
David C. Bell, Claude J. Dunn, and Edward McCole, all of Happyville.
May 23, 1916 "Smith Center, Kas., May 23. A spree that Pat McCoale,
a middle-aged Irish bachelor of this county, indulged in the night before Easter
cost him his 160-acre farm valued, at $8,000, according to a suit just filed to
regain the land. McCoale's petition acknowledges his excessive libations
and the signing of a paper in the presence of two men whom he had counted
as his particular friends. These men, so he alleges, are James Gouldie and
John C. Rose, the latter a real estate agent, and both of Red Cloud, Neb.
The petition goes on to recite that the two men came to the plaintiff's home the day before Easter and with them was a gallon of whisky and a case of beer. All three partook of the liquor. Tho drinking continued most of the day, the petition states, and far into the night, and finally one of the guests asked McCoale what he would take for his farm. He replied that it was not for sale. Then the other guest suggested that an affidavit to that effect ought to be drawn up. McCoale obligingly acquiesced. After this task had been completed tho trio adjourned to Rosemont, Neb., a "wet" village, he charges, and many more drinks were disposed of. After he had arrived home McCoale declares he began to hear rumors that he had sold his farm. He investigated and found, he claims, the deed with his signature attached in a bank at Red Cloud, in which he conveyed his farm to Mary A. Leadabrand, a neighbor. The consideration is given as $2,000 and forty acres of land in Nebraska"
April 25, 1913 "David Donaldson, Jr., of Eckley, a native of Scotland,
Martin Nickolous and Frank Nickolous, of Yuma, natives of Russia; Alois Landtwig, of Yuma, a native of Scotland; William Brochardt and Edward Linzert, of Yuma, natives of Germany; William D. Pritchard, of Yuma, a native of England, and Con McCoale, of Happyville, a native of Ireland, were those who received their final papers of naturalization at Wray last week."
September 12, 1913 "Notice is hereby given that Con McCoale, of Happyville, Colorado,
who, on July 12, 1910, made homestead entry No. 013535, for east half of section 32,
township 2 south, range 46 west, 6th principal meridian, has filed notice of intention to make final three year proof, to establish claim
to the land above described, before County Judge, at Wray, Colorado, on the 23rd day of September.
Claimant names as witnesses : David C. Hell, of Happyville Colorado, Purcy Matson, of Happyville, Colorado, Hugh J , McCauley, of Happyville,
Colorado, Edward McCole, of Happyville, Colorado.

1919 Red Cloud Nebraska "Con McCoale who resides in Smith county,
was in town Tuesday. Con has obtained his passport papers and will leave next month
for Ireland where he will visit his old home and friends."
In 1920 Smith County, Kansas, Patrick 56 and Edward 58 "McCoele" are farming, both born in Ireland, immigrating in 1876.
January 22, 1922 Red Cloud Nebraska.
There's an Edward McCole in 1930 Smith County, Kansas, born in Ireland, 70, boarding
with Earl 38 and Mary 30 Ritter.
He might be in the census twice. Connie 59 and Edward 77 are both in 1930 Smith County, living iwth Theopolis S. and Mary J. Spencer, both elderly.
April 21, 1838 
Edward is buried in Esbon, Jewell County, Kansas # 42323756. So is Connie 1865-1939 # 42323755.
So is Patrick McCoale 1864-1927 # 42323757.
