Percy E. Matson, Heartstrong


Mary Catherine Harlan was born June 26, 1855, marrying George Matson in Clarke County Iowa on March 17, 1874, dying January 1, 1878 in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, buried in Clarke County, Iowa # 13774357.


Percy Everett was born March 24, 1875 in Warren County, Iowa, and George A. Oct 22, 1876 in Nuckolls COunty.

George Alexander Matson 1854 - # 169765667 and Mary Catherine (Harlan) Matson 1855-1878 # 13774357 both died of consumption between 1875-1880. One FindaGrave says both are buried in Oxbow Cemetery, Nuckolls County, another says Mary is buried in Clarke County Iow with her siblings.

In 1880 Clarke County, Iowa, "Pursy" is 5, George 3, with grandparents John 55 and Asewith 52 Harlan. Lafayette 23 and Rosa 13 Harlan are John's kids.
In 1885 Clarke County, John Harlan is 60, Asenith 56, Andrew C. 31. Persey E. Matson is 10, born in Clarke County, George A. 8 in Nebraska - George's WWII registration said he was born in Nuckolls County, Nebraska.

In 1900 Smith County, Kansas, Geo Matson is 34, married 13 years to Mollie 32, first marriage for both. Alzina is 12, Minnie O. 9, James W. 6, George L. 1, and Percy 35 born in Iowa.


August 1913 "Percy Matson moved his residence last Friday from the west to east of his farm, thereby bringing him closer to school and church. McCoale brothers did the work."

Percy proved up 240 acres in 20, 2S 46W in 1916.

Hanna proved up 320 acres in 4, 3S 46W and 33, 2S 46W in 1918, witnesses David C. Bell, Edward McCole, Hugh J. McCauley, and Percy Matson, all of Happyville.

John M. Harlan proved up a quarter in 33, 1S 45W in 1893.

He might be unrelated to Percy Matson, but was in Wright County, Iowa in 1900, born Feb 1854 in Illinois, married 23 years to Almeda July 1858 Illinois, a railway conductor, with six kids, all born in Iowa.


In 1930 Clay County, Nebraska, Persie is 55, a farm laborer born in Iowa, is with Albert S. Wilson 56 and Helen J. Wilson 54.

In 1940 Deschutes County, Oregon, Percy is 65, uncle of George Matson 31. Halel is 32 Verna 4, both born in Nebraska, with Wanda 2 in Oregon.

Percy is buried in Bend, Oregon 1875-1961 # 30929935.
"Percy E. Matson, 86, died Saturday evening at Sunset Home. He had been a Bend resident for the past 22 years. Mr. Matson was born March 24, 1875, at Osceola, Iowa. He had been a farmer most of his life. Survivors include six nephews, James, John, Ralph, and Buck, all of Bend; Homer, Jefferson; and Fred, Sweet Home. Services will be held tomorrow at the Niswonger-Reynolds Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald M. Lundy. Interment is to follow in the Pilot Butte Cemetery"

George A. Matson 1876-1951 is buried in Bend # 30869345.

James Wesley Matson, born August 1, 1902 in Smith County, Kansas, died October 2, 19182 in Bend Oregon, interred in Pilot Butte Cemetery.
