Lyman F. and Emma Jean (Shadrick) Weaver,  Vernon



In 1850 Monkton, Addison County, Vermont, Charles Weaver is a laborer, 50, with Margaret 39, both born in Canada. Lury ann is 17, Elizabeth 15, Louisa 14, Caroline 11, Charles 9, Jareah 7, Lymon 5, and newborn Louis.

In 1860 Bristol, Addison County, Vermont, Charles "Heaver" is 62, Margarette 50, Lyman 14, Peter 12, Willie 6, and Freemont 4. Mary Wright is 7, Alice Wright 5.
Charles Weaver and Marguerite Degre had married Nov 20, 1832 in Quebec.

In 1880 Johnson County, Iowa, Lyman Weaver is 34, Emma 23, Emmagene 6, Charles 5, Frederick 3, and Orton 1.
They're next to parents Charles 88 and Margret 69,, with William 26 a groom and Fremont 23 a teamster.


In 1885 Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Lyman is a laborer, 40, Emma 39, Jena 11, Charles 10, Fredd 8, and Orton 7.

August 1899 "Lyman Weaver, living near Vernon, had three cows killed by lightning last Friday afternoon. The loss falls quite heavily, as they were all the cows he had and were a source of considerable revenue to him."

Lyman F. Weaver proved up a quarter in 7, 2S 44W in 1894.

October 1911 " Grandpa Meacham and Charles Weaver returned fron; Boulder Thursday evening. John Wales, Charles Weaver, Art Meacham and father went to Denver Tuesday night.
April 17, 1913 "The death of Mrs. Lyman Weaver occurred at the family home at Vernon last Saturday, April l2. This death came after a long period of sickness during which everything that medical skill and the ministration of loving friends could do was done for the sufferer.
The funeral was held at Vernon on Monday of this week at 11 o'clock a. m. and interment was made in the Glendale cemetery. The deceased was among the pioneer women of this county, coming here with her husband and family of children in 1887 and settling on their farm southwest of Vernon. Mr. and Mrs. Weaver made that their home until four years ago when they moved to Vernon.
A large circle of friends of the family who have valued the acquaintance of the deceased through the years of her residence here sympathize with them in their bereavement.
Emma Jean Shedrick was born in Bristol, Vermont, on March 25, 1856. She was married to Lyman Weaver at Bristol on August 17, 1872. Four years later they moved to Iowa City, lowa, and five years later to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In 1887, as above reported, they moved to this county. There were six children born to this union, viz: Mrs. J. A. Southwell, of Wray, C. M. Weaver, J. F. Weaver, O. T. Weaver, Mrs. Art Wakefield and P. L. Weaver, all of Vernon.
To mourn their loss, she leaves a husband, four sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren besides two sisters and four brothers. One brother, E. B. Shedrick, was visiting his sister at the time of her death."

August 15, 1924 "We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the kindnesses shown during the sickness and death of our father, L. F. Weaver.

EDITH

February 8, 1907 " Arch Wakefield and Edith Gertrude Weaver, of Vernon, are two more of our young people who were granted license to wed the first of the week."

Arch and Edith, both 22, are farming in 1910 Yuma County.


December 1916 "Arch Wakefield and family and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimson ate Christmas dinner with their father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wakefield of Vernon."

February 1917 "Mr. and Mrs. Arch Wakefield spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. J. G. Stevens."

Arch 32 born in Nebraska, and Edith G. 32 born in Colorad, are farming in Yuma County in 1920.

In 1930, still farming, they have Oren E. 6.

They're farming in 1940, too, with Delmer 16. A school teacher, Eunice Thomas 22 born in Colorado, is boarding with them.


Edith G. (Weaver) Wakefield 1887-1961 is buried in Vernon, # 14872893, with Arch 1887-1969 # 14872888.

PETER

Peter L. Weaver and Iva M. Brady married in Yuma County on April 12, 1912.

June 1914 "Messrs. and Mesdames Pete Weaver and Fred Barker and families visited Sunday with the Mesdames' mother, Mrs. G. R. Brady."

May 1915 "Mr. and Mrs. Pete Weaver and baby and Mrs. Fred Barker and children visited with Charley Weaver's Sunday."

Pete and Iva are farming in Yuma County in 1920, next to his sister Emagean Southwell, Peter L. 30, Iva M. 28, Emma J. 6, Delbert F. 4, Leroy D. 2, all born in Colorado.

September 1923 "Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Burns and their children and families and Mr. and Mrs. Brady of south of Wray and their children and families enjoyed a family reunion at the Brady home on Sunday.
Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Brady are sisters, and the reunion of the two families is an annual occurrence. A big fried chicken dinner was served by Mrs. Brady and a most pleasant time is reported by all who were present. The following enjoyed the day at the Brady home: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burns and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Devlin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chamberlain and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Burns and family, George Burns, Miss Catherine Burns, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Brady and family, Mr. and Mrs. Al Brady and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Weaver and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brady and family, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Easton and family, and Ernest Brady. One son of Mr. and Mrs. Brady, Ralph Brady, was unable to be present at the reunion."

In 1930 Yuma County, farming, Peter is 40, Iva 38, Emma 16, Delbert F. 14, Leroy D. 12, Orton T. 6, Paul R. 4, and Melvin D. 1.

In 1940, still farming, Pete is 50, Iva 49, Donald 22, Orton 16, Paul 14, Melvin 11, and Phyllis 6.

Peter 1889-1963 is buried in Vernon # 47672441, with Iva Magdalen (Brady) Weaver 1891-1973 # 47672583.

EMMA GEAN

Emma Gean Weaver and John Alvin Southwell married in Denver on Oct 27, 1890.


JOHN

John F. Weaver and Mabel M. Pinckney married in Wray on December 31, 1898.

In 1900 Yuma County, John F. Weaver, Sept 1875 Iowa, married one year to Mabel  M. Jan 1876 New York, with Vivian Mar 1900 Colorado.



Mabel M. Weaver, formerly Mabel M. Pinckney, claimed a quarter in 28, 1S 45W in 1905.


Mabel 1876-1961 is buried in Lebanon # 20422083.

Elijah Pinckney is buried in Lebanon, Missouri 1845-1932 # 35657392.
So is Louisa L. (Cross) Pinckney 1844-1924 # 35658326.

1912 "Mrs. John Weaver and little daughter came to Wray Sunday from their home near Idalia and are visiting Mrs. Weaver's sister, Mrs. E. E. Hovermale of this place."

1910 Wray marriage license was issued "John F. Weaver and Dorothy M. Lawrence."
Dorothy Mae Lawrence was born Feb 9, 1890 in Wray to Andrew Lawrence and Margaret M. Countter.

January 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lawrence entertained at Christmas dinner at their home in West Wray. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Hoeock and family of north of town, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Weaver, and little son, of near Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lawrnnce, of Akron, and Miss Jessie Weaver, Mrs. Sadie Roberts and Leon Hall, of Wray."

1915 "Mrs. Myrtle Dinroush, who is visiting her mother, Mrs. John Weaver, of Wray, went out thirteen miles west of Idalia to visit her sister, Mrs. Ernest Nash. Mrs. Dinroush expects to leave the last of this week for her home in Kansas City, Mo., but has decided to return to Wray and make her home with her mother."

December 1915 "Mrs. J. F. Weaver and baby are visiting with Mrs. Weaver's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lawrence, this week."
1919 "Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Weaver of Vernon visited Thursday at the A. W. Lawrence home in west Wray. Mrs. Weaver is a sister of Mrs. Leon Hall of Nishbotna, Mo., who is a guest at the Lawrence home."

August 1919 Palisade, Colorado "J. E. Morford has sold the 6-acre Ed Lewis place, west of the Mt. Lincoln school, to J. F. Weaver of Vernon, Colo. "

1923 "A. W. Lawrence left Tuesday for his home in Yuma after a visit at the home of his daughters Mrs. Dan BococK and Mrs. J. F. Weaver"

In 1930 Palisade, Colorado, John is 53, Dorothy M. 40, and William A. Weazver 19.

In 1940 Palisade, Colorado, John is operating a fruit ranch, 63, born in Iowa, with Dorothy M. 50 born in Colorado.

October 1950 "Mr, and Mrs. Harold Royle and two children of Sterling left Tusday morning for Bremmeton, Wash., for the winter. They were here a week visiting Mrs. John Weaver, Mr. Hoyle's mother and Mr. Weaver. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brooks and relatives in Grand Junction. "

January 1952 "Mr. and Mrs. Joe Biershied and three youngsters came from their home at Minturn and spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver. Christmas day they were all guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Powell and family in Frulta. Mr. Powell took them to their home Thursday."

Dorothy 1890-1947 is buried in Palisade # 50702880.

CHARLES

Mary Lutheria Brady married Charles W. Weaver July 23, 1904.

1909 Stevens & Wakefield disposed of their general merchandise store and entire stock of goods to Charles Weaver.

Charles proved up a quarter in 5, 2S 45W in 1910, and one next to it in 1914.

In 1910 Vernon precinct Charles is 35, Vermont, Mary 25, Missouri, and they have Charles L. 4 and Lawrence F. 3, both born Colorado.

November 1913 "Mrs. J. A. Southwell of the Wray hotel and little daughter, Leta, and Mrs. Charles Weaver of Vernon, expect to leave tomorrow evening for a few days visit with their brother, Paul Brady and Mrs. Southwell's son, Fred, who are attending the business college in Grand Island, Nebraska."

He registered with a Vernon address born Feb 22, 1875, nearest relative Mary L. Weaver.

1919 "Mrs. Charles Weaver closed a successful term of school Friday, in District 94.  Several of the patrons gathered at the schoolhouse and all had a picnic dinner, after which a program was given by the school, showing the efficient work of both pupils and teacher."

Mary L. 1883-1953 and Charles W. Weaver 1875-1936 are buried in Glendale.
