Tryphasa W. (Wells) Purcell Wray
Miss Layton was born in North Manchester, on the first day of June, 1879. She was the granddaughter of the Rev. Hugh Wells, of sacred memory. Rev. Wells was the organizer of the Northern Indiana and Olive Branch Synods, and at one time actively associated in the operations of the General Synod. Miss Layton's father died when she was but a few months' old, and she was taken into the Wells home, where she remained until the death of her grandparents. Upon this breaking up of the old home, she came into the household of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. B. Frame, where she was cared for as tenderly as a daughter. The departed was a member of Zion Lutheran church, and the funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Lloyd C. Douglas. |
