James Oliver Olvey, born August 22, 1860 in Indiana to
William Olvey and Susan Clark, died May 20, 1913 in Hancock County, to be buried in Maple Grove Cemetery
Anna C. Olvey, daughter of D. M. Herron and Susan Heath, married John Thomas Webb on October 17, 1914 in Hancock County.
Anna is divorced in 1920 Hancock County, 50, with Minnie Olvey 9 and Susan Herron 79.

Daniel Benjamin Olvey, born Feb 28, 1889 in McCordsville, Hancock County, Indiana to James O. Olvey and Annie Cela Herron,
married Adah Smart on September 7, 1913 in Marion County, Indiana. She was born Mrch 3, 1893 at Lawrence, Indinaa to Lawrence G. Smart and Ollie M. Vernona.
Ollie M. Smart died in 1935, buried in Indianapolis # 46024517.
March 8, 1928 "Maurice V. Smart of Benkelman and E. Jane Holbert, also of Benkelman,
were united in marriage by Judge I. L. Barker in Wray last Thursday. "
1928 "Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Olvey and family spent Sunday, at Benkelman visiting at the M. V. Smart
home. Mr. Smart is a brother of Mrs. Olvey. Miss Juanita Olvey remained in Benkelman and will
visit there until Thursday of this week."
1948 "Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Smart of Fort Collins, who were enroute home from
Florida and Cuba, spent Thursday and Friday with the former's sister, Mrs. Adah Olvey. "
Her brother Maurice Vernon Smart 1900-1989 is buried in Greeley, Colorado # 149399481, with Elizabeth Jane (McDonald) Smart 1894-1962.
In 1930 Wray, Daniel B. Olvey is living on East Third, a telegraph operator,
41 with Adah - a bank teller - 36, both born in Indiana. Juanita L. 15 was born in Iowa, Jay L. 14 in Missouri, and Ralph V. 8 in Nebraska.
1930 Wray "Mrs. D. B. Olvey left Thursday for Indianapolis, Indiana,
to visit her mother, Mrs. Smart and a sister, Mrs. White.
Mrs. Olvey expects to be away about two weeks."
"D. B. Olvey, veteran telegrapher for the Burlington railroad and a former Wray resident,
died suddenly in Denver Saturday morning, October 19, 1946
while at work at the Thirty-eighth street yard office of the railroad.
Mr. Olvey had been in poor health for some time, but his condition was not considered
critical and his death was a shock to his family and friends.
The Olvey family made their home in Wray for many years when Mr. Olvey
was employed as a telegrapher at the Wray depot. They were well liked here and
had continued many of their friendships in this locality.
He left Wray to work in Denver about eight years ago.
He is survived by his widow and three children, Jay Olvey of Cheyenne, Wyoming,
Mrs. Juanita Backus of Florida, and Ralph Olvey of Denver.
Mrs. Backus flew from Florida to Chicago when she received news of her father's death
and came on to Denver from there.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Olinger chapel on
Speer Boulevard and burial was in Fairmont cemetery.
Miss Lettie Backus and Mrs. Charles Barkmeier of Wray went to Denver Tuesday
morning to attend the services.
Mr. Barkmeier and son Claude joined them in Denver Thursday and they will remain
until Sunday."
1950 Wray "Mrs. W. A. White, a niece of Mrs. Adah Olvey,
and Rev. and Mrs. Carl E. Reppert of Goodland, Indiana, spent the weekend in Wray with Mrs. Olvey.
Mrs. Reppert is a niece of the Wray lady"
Adah Smart Olvey 1893-1955 is buried in Denver # 71379483.
November 1949 Wray "Mrs. Adah Olvey left last week on a vacation trip to Frostproof, Fla., where her daughter, Mrs. Dick Backus, and family reside."
1953 Wray " Mr. and Mrs. Dick Backus and two children and the former's mother,
Mrs. Vallie Backus, of Frostproof, Fla., came Friday night to visit the Ted Zions and other relatives and friends.
The Dick Backus family will also visit Mrs. Backus' brother, Ralph Olvey in Denver,
and her mother, Mrs. Adah Olvey, who has been hospitalized in Denver."

In 1955, Mrs. Ralph Olvey's sister Joyce McKinley, daughter of Mr.a nd Mrs. O. P. McKinley in Denver married James Lane.
1962 Yuma "Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Olvey and Kent of Denver visited over the week end at the Don Seedorf home. The two ladies are sisters."
Ralph is buried in Yuma 1922-1991 # 74077602. The stone has Arlene W. Olvey, born January 25, 1923 # 101232378.
"Ralph V. Olvey, 68, of Denver died March 15 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center. A memorial service was March 18 in Fairmount Mortuary. Burial was in Yuma Cemetery . Mr. Olvey, a native of Orleans, Neb., was an accountant for 30 years in the petroleum industry. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; a son, Stuart Olvey of Colorado Springs; a brother, Jay Olvey of Aurora; and four grandchildren."

Lyndell Juanita Olvey, 22 married Richard E. Backus in Polk County, Florida
on November 7, 1936.
Richard is buried in Frostproof # 30157608, with L. Juanita 1914-1989 # 30157609.
March 1938 Wray " Mrs. D. B. Olvey and son Ralph went to Denver Sunday and visited with
Mr. Olvey who is working there.
Mrs. Anna Yarrington and daughter Miss Eleanor Yarrington of Boulder visited with friends
here over the week end.
Jay Olvey of Boulder visited his mother Mrs. D. B. Olvey in Wray over the week end. Jay is a senior at the Colorado University"

Eleanor M. Yarrington was in Wray in 1930, age 13, with Carl R. Yarrington 38 a machinst born in Illinois, and Anna M. 37 born in Missouri.

Jay and Mary are in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1940, where Jay is a plant chemist at a refinery, with mary borboth 23 born in Missouri - and both were in Wray in 1935.
1942 Wray "A group of friends held a surprise farewell party at the home of Eleanor Yarrington for Jay Olvey preceding his departure for Indianapolis."
1950 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Jay Olvey and daughter Nancy of Cheyenne spent Sunday and Monday
with the former's mother, Mrs. Adah Olvey. They were accompanied by Mrs. Jay Olvey's mother,
Mrs. Anna Yarrington, also of Cheyenne, who spent the time with Dr. and Mrs. Noble Brown."
Jay Lamont Olvey, born April 14, 1916 at Hopkins, Nodaway County, Missouri, died November 28, 1999.
