Philip cash-claimed 160 acres in sections 31 and 32, 2N 44W in 1882, including a mile of the not-yet-built railroad.

Elijah Latham of Robb was accused of a fraudulent claim, along with James A. Weldon, Samuel Hawley, Henry Brown, Samuel Snyder, Philip L. Murray, James Wilson, and Isaac N. Gamble. They were accused of claiming it for the benefit of Gideon Taylor.
