Lemuel and Catherine (Faux) Marshall, Wray


Lemuel cash-claimed 160 acres in section 14 and 23, 2N 44W in 1891.
Their son Charles S. Marshall cash-claimed 160 acres in section 26, also in 1891.
In 1856 Louisa County, Iowa, Christopher Faux is 55, Rachel 44, Catharine E. 25, Margan 21, Rachel 15, Joseph A. 12, Mary H. 10, and Virginia M. 7.

(Mary Hannah Johnson, born Dec 13, 1846 at Morning Sun, Iowa to Christopher C. Faux and Rachael Davidson, spouse of John P. Johnson, died July 30 1936 in Belvidere, Illinois, to be buried in Buda, Bureau County.)
Another sister Rachel M. Marshall 1842-1891 is buried in Louisa County # 9495509, with William H. Marshall.
Catherine Faux married Lemuel W. Marshall on January 3, 1861 in Louisa County.

He sold property to John S. Marshall in 1858 in Louisa County, Iowa. "'' This land was located in Marshall Township and could have been a lot in the town of Cairo. The property was surrounded by land owned by John Marshall, the son of William Marshall.
He moved to Canton, Fulton County, Illinois after 1862. "'" He lived on a farm, in Canton, Illinois on 8 June 1880."" He resided in Wray, Yuma County, Colorado on 12 February 1892.'"' "
The Wray Presbyterian Church was organized on April 17, 1887 "The first pastor of the church was Rev. Wm. Marshall, living in Haughton, Washington in 1907. This possibly is not a relative - he was a minister in Yuma in 1889."

In 1870 Fulton County, Illinois, "Samuel" Marshall is 50, Catherine 39, Steward 8, Ada May 6, and May 2.

In 1880 Fulton County, Illinois, L.W. Marshall is 60, with Catherine 49, Charles S. 18, Adda May 16, and Mary L. 12.

One tree said Catherine Edda Faux Marshall, born December 30, 1831 in Columbus, Ohio, and died in 1887 in Wray.

Lemuel, born June 11, 1816, died May 24, 1896 in Wray.

CHARLES S.

Charles Stewart Marshall, son of Lemuel and Catharine (Faux) Marshall, married Mary Ellen LeGresley on December 29, 1881 in Henry County, Iowa. She was 20, born in Winfield, Iowa to Peter LeGresley and Elizabeth Dahlberg.

Mary was in Henry County in 1880, 18, with Peter 58, barmer, born in Isle of Jersey, Elizabeth 50 in Sweden. Mary 18, Dora 16, Georgie 14, Letitia 12, and James 9 were all born in Iowa.

Pierre LeGresley, 77, immigrating September 1892, died December 10, 1899, buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa.
(Ida LeGresley, 19, married Thomas M. Shires on December 26, 1883, and they're in Sumner County, Kansas in 1900, with mother Elsie. Ida is in McPherson County in 1920, 55, married but no spouse, with Merton 20 and mother Elsie LeGresley 90. Ida, 58, died in Los Angeles County April 25, 1922.)
Thomas M. Shires 1860-1921 is buried in McPherson # 84612479.)

(Georgiana (Gresley) Merry 1865-1950 is buried in Glendale, California # 85467433, with James T. Merry 1858-1923.)

In 1885 Louisa County, L. W. is 65, Katherine 55, Stuart is 23, Adie 20, Mamie 17, Mary 23, and Besie 1.

Charles Stewart Marshall is farming in Louisa County, Iowa in 1900, with Mary E. both 37. Bessie M. is 16, Jesse R. 9.

In 1910 Louisa County, Charles is a teamster, 49, Mary a dressmaker 49, with Ray J. 18 a waiter.

In 1920 Charles and Mary, both 58, are farming in Rice County, Minnesota.

Charles, born Dec 30, 1861, died January 9, 1921 in Rice County, Minnesota, spouse Mary LeCresley, married December 29, 1881, buried Louisa County, Iowa.

Mary Ellen (LeGresley) Marshall, 64, married Harrison Chaney Hoaglund, 72 on September 2, 1925 in Jefferson County, Iowa.
In 1930 they're gardening in Jefferson County, Harrison 75 and Mary E. 68.

The tombstone in Elmwood Cemetery, Louisa County, has MARY 1861-1921 # 8089215 and STEWART 1861-1942 # 8089228 - which are opposite dates from the census and death information.

Harrison Hoagland 1854-1937 is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield # 16417826.

Bessie May Fent, born Nov 1, 1883 in Louisa County, died August 11, 1961 in Marshall County, Iowa, buried there # 77537966, with Edgar G. Fent 1886-1958.

Jessie Ray Marshall is divorced in 1940 Honolulu, and registered for WWII there, born Feb 22, 1892 in Winfield, Iowa, working at Pearl Harbor.
He's buried in Honolulu National 1892-1971 # 132193470, "CPL CO F 2 ARMY ARTY PARK WORLD WAR I"


ADDA

Adda May Marshall who married Alexander W. Baker on Nov 8, 1888 in Washington County, Colorado.

One tree says he was the son of Samuel Baker born 1812, dying in Carlisle Pennsylvania about 1880, and married Sarah Jane in 1837 in Pennsylvania. Sarah, born about 1822, died about 1895 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Alexander cash-claimed 160 acres in section 23, 2N 44W in 1891.

In 1900 Stevens County, Washington, Alexander and Adda, October 1863 in Illinois, have Blanche E. Sept 1889 in Colorado, Rosinz 5 and Jessie 1 both born in Washington.
Alexander 54 and Addie M. 47 born in Illinois are in Stevens County, Washington in 1910, with Ruie, 15, Josephine 10, and Theodore 4 all born in Washington>

Adda's sister Mary L. Bell is in Stevens County in 1910, 41, married three years to with Oliver W. Bell 50. It's his second marriage, her third.

Colville, Washington October 16, 1915 "Last Saturday Attorney L. C. Jesseph was appointed administrator of the estate of Alexander Baker, with bond fixed at $1100."

In 1920 Spokane County, Addie is 50, with Theodore 14, housekeeper for Curtis Barnett 76 born in Indiana and his son 48 born in Iowa.

Adda May Marshall Baker, born in Canton, Illinois October 7, 1863, died April 15, 1938 in Los Gatos, California.

CHARLES

Alexander William Baker and Addie May Marshall had Charles Theodore Baker on July 17, 1905 in Stevens County.

Charles T. Baker is in Shasta County, California in 1930, 24 born in Washington, with Mary P. 23 born in Arkansas. Betty M. 1 was born in California.

They're in Santa Clara County in 1940, Charles 34, Mary 33, Bettie M. 11, Charles W. 7, Richard 4, and Marian A. 1.

Charles is buried in Chico, California 1905-1995 # 87444281.

DORIS

Doris Baker, 25, born in Colville, Washington, married Jess O. Jones on January 9, 1925 in Great Falls, Montana.
He was the son of Amos J. W. Jones and Tamzy Bertram.

Jess may be a cook in Kansas City in 1930, married but no spouse....

BLANCHE

Blanche Edna Wilson was born March 12, 1914 in Stevens County to Harry A. Wilson and Blanch Edna Baker.

In 1920 Stevens County, Harry Wilson is 42, Blanche 30, Grace 11, Julia 9, Jessie 8, Blanchd E. 5, Harry A. 4, and Sadie 1.
Blanche died at age 70 on February 27, 1984 in Bozeman, Montana.

RUIE

Ruie Baker, 25, is a waitress in Seattle in 1920, in a lodging house, single.
Ruie Wood, born August 15, 1894 in Washington, died September 30, 1945 in Butte County, California.
