Earl Lowley, Wray
Earl's parents are buried in Seward, Nebraska - George W. Lowley 1842-1902 and Maggie W. (Long( Lowley 1844-1888
"He was twice married, first to Miss M. W. Long in 1867, who died in 1889. His second marriage was to Miss Jennie McMullen, in 1891, who survives him. Seven children were born to the first union, J.S. Lowley of McCook, Mrs. May Haines of Fairmont, W. Va., Mrs. M. Hunt of El Paso, Ill., and Earl and George of Seward.

Earl Lowley, 27, of McCook, married Pearl Lugar 18,
of Hayes County, daughter of J.S. Lugar, on Apirl 6, 1908 in Phelps County, Nebraska.
In 1910 Hayes County, James S. Lugar is 41, second marriage of 21 years
to Maude 37 with Flossie 18, Ernest R. 13, and Dewey 11.
Pearly Lawley is 20, Earl 29, with Mildred D. one month, the last six born in Nebraska.
1916 Tobacco Journal "Earl McClure and Geo. Lichtenberger, formerly connected with the operating department of the
Burlington railroad, have bought out the cigar store owned by Earl Lowley at McCook. Both boys have
the reputation of being hustlers."
August 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lowley arrived
this morning on No. 2, from Colorado for a visit
of several days with Joe Lowley and family.
They are homesteading near Wray, and report that
country is being badly in need of rain.

Earl registered for WWI in Wyoming, listing his permanent address at Hayes Center, Nebraska, a brakeman for the C B & Q, with his daughter Dralene Lowley at Hay Center. He was born Feb 22, 1879.
Earl proved up 320 acres in sections 5, 6, 7 and 8,
, 2N 44W in 1920.

Pearl Cronkite is divorced in 1920 Casper,
Wyoming, 28, with Darlene Lowley 10.
Her mother Sarah Lugar 46 is married but no spouse.
In 1930 Casper, Wyoming, Earl is a railroad brakeman, 47
born in Virginia, with Bessie 30 born in Missouri. Her son RBoyd Todd 15 was born in Nebraska, and her mother Marie Myers 55 is widowed, born in Illinois.
Earl is still a brakeman in 1940 Casper, with Bessie.
November 1969 "Earl Lowley, 92, who says he's Casper's only living Spanish-American War Veteran, proudly waves Old Glory, which he says will be flying before his houseat 134 North Jackson today. Lowley's comrade in the War of '98, and one of the last two Casper survivors of the war, died during the past year."
September 9, 1973 "A Spanish American War veteran who didn't believe old
soldiers never die did die here Saturday. Earl Lowley, 96,
was born at Seward Nebraska, Feb. 22, 1877. During the War of '98,
he joined the 39th Volunteer Infantry "Bullards American Indians,"
and served in the Phillipplnes. He worked 29 years with the Burlington Railroad.
After a try at retirement, he went back to work for an additional ten years with
Petroleum Information. He began that job at 72. Lowley said at 92 he didn't
believe old soldiers never die, but he did admit to "feeling pretty good."
He once said he attributed his longevity to "smoking cigars."
He said he'd been smoking cigars for 70 years. At 93, he said,
"I eat what I want I smoke what I want, but I don't inhale and I quit
driving my car." In his active life, Lowley served two enlistments in
the Infantry before, starting with the railroad cutting and dipping ties.
He came to Gillette in 1902 and worked on a sheep ranch, and went
to work again for the railroad at Casper until his retirement
in 1944. He worked for Petroleum Information for ten years beginning with
his retirement from the railroad. Lowley was a member of the
Grace Lutheran Church, Casper's only living veteran of
the Spanish American War, past president of the Spanish American War Veterans."

In 1930 Lulu Pearl Peake 40, and Mildred A. 20, both born in Nebraska, are with William Peake 46 born in Kansas.
In 1940 Cheyenne, Wyoming, William 58 Peake, Pearl 50, have granddaughter Sara Walker 7 born in Wyoming.
Mildred Darlene Lowley and Jack Stabler married in Weld County, Colorado on July 31, 1931.
Mildred Darlene Stabler, 24, married Harry Walker, 28, on November 6, 1933 in Weld County, Colorado.
Darlene is divorced in 1940 Casper, a stenographer, living alone.
