Gottfried and Pauline(Stoker)(Yung) Kugler, Wray


In 1900 Mitchell County, Kansas, Gottfried born October 1852 in Germany, married 18 years to Paulina Oct 1847 Germany, both immigrating in 1885. Carl July 1887, Jacob Dec 1889, and Amelia January 1893 were born in Kansas.

In 1905 Rawlins County, Kansas, Godfrey Kugler is 52, Pauline 57, Carl 18, Jame 15, and Amelia 12.

In 1910 Wray, living on Railroad street, Gotfred is farming, 57, Paulina 62, Carl 22, Jake 19, and Emma Bosler 17, married one year, with B"niece" Bettina three months old.

September 1912 "....and Gottfried Kugler of Wray, a native of Germany were the persons granted their final papers of naturalization."

Gottfried proved up two quarters in section 15, 2N 44W in 1916.
March 18, 1915 " Following is the obituary of the late Mrs. Gotfred Kugler, who died very suddenly at her home north of Wray last Wednesday, March 10. Mrs. Kugler had been in her usual health, had gotten the evening meal and eaten it with her family. Soon after she complained of feeling badly and in a few moments had passed away. Her sudden death was due to heart failure but she was also a sufferer from dropsy. The Gazette joins in sympathy with the many friends of the family in their sad bereavement.
Pauline Stoker was born in Germany Oct. 22, 1847, and departed this life March 10, 1915, age 67 years, 5 months and 18 days. She united with the German Lutheran church at the age of 14 years. In after years, there being no Lutheran church near, she became a member of the Presbyterian church of which she was a member at death.
On July 22, 1873, the deceased was married to John Young and to this union were born five children, four of whom are living. They are Mrs. L. J. Anderson : Mrs. Bob Collier of Tologa, Okla.; John Young, Jr., of Canton, Okla. : and George Young, of Canton, Oklahoma. The husband died in 1878.
On Nov. 16, 1880, Mrs. Young was married to Gotfred Kugler. They then emigrated from Germany to America and came to the state of Kansas in 1884, living there until 1910 when they came to Colorado. To Mr. and Mrs. Kugler were born six children, three of whom are living: Karl Kugler, Jacob and Mrs. Emma Renzelman, who with the husband and eight grandchildren survive her.
She was a good Christian mother always having a good word for every body, a constant reader of the Bible and shaped her life by its teachings."

Gottfried 1853-1934 is buried in Wray # 81581329.
Gottfried Kugler. a well known farmer of six miles northwest of Wray, died at his home at 11 o'clock last Saturday evening following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in Wray Monday afternoon, with Rev. A. R. Dickson officiating. Interment was in Grandview cemetery. Gottfried Kugler was bom in Whittenburg, Germany. October 16, 1851 and departed this life Saturday evening, April 21, 1934, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 5 day 3. When a young man he was baptised and confirmed in the German Lutheran church, later moving to where there was no church of his faith, he united with the Presbyterian church and was a member of this church until his death. On November 16, 1880. he was united in marriage to Pauline Stocker. They then came to this country settling in the state of Kansas where they lived until 1910 when they came to a homestead northwest of Wray. He leaves to mourn his departure two sons, Karl and Jake Kugler, one daughter, Mrs. Emma Renzelman, three step children, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Kugler passed away March 10. 1915, and one step daughter, Mrs. L. J. Anderson, also preceded him in death in 1930."


FREDA

1910 Wray "Owing to leaving the country on account of ill health of his wife, L. J. Anderson will hold a Big Clearing Up Sale of all his live stock, implements and household goods, Wednesday, January 4. Eight head of good horses, 110 head of fine hogs, 4 head of cows, implements as good as new and all household goods. Nothing reserved."

In 1920 Mitchell County, Kansas, L. J. Anderson is 41, born in Kansas, with Frieda 42 born in Germany.

In 1920 Mitchell County, L. J. and Freida both 52, have an adopted daughter Irene Walker Anderson, 6, born in Kansas.

Fretta Friederike (Yung) Anderson 1876-1930 is buried in Glen Elder, Mitchell County # 42389412,
So is L. J. Weaver Anderson 1878-1944 and Irene Opal (Walker)(Anderson) Parrish 1923-1997. buried in Wray # 62585737.

1951 "Week end visitors at the Cuney Renzelman home were Mr. and Mrs. Earoey Parrish of Beloit, Kans. The lady is a niece of Mrs. Renzelman"
1954 "Mrs. Walter Renzelman and Argil Renzelman accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Parrish to Beloit, Kans., Sunday to help move their furniture to their new home at Wray. "

GEORGE YUNG

George 1873-1947 is buried in Wray # 62689089.
"George Yung was born in Germany, July 2, 1873, and with his parents came to this country at the age of 10 years, coming to Nemeha County, Kansas, and later moving to Mitchell County and from there he moved to Dewey County, Okla., where he homesteaded a farm which was his home at the time of his death.
He lived the life of a pioneer and in early life was united with the Baptist church. He was ever faithful to his friends and was always willing to lend a helpful hand to his friends and neighbors.
He passed away on November 3, 1947, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and one day.
He leaves to mourn his death a brother, John Yung, and a sister, Mrs. Pauline Collier, of near his home in Oklahoma, and a half brother, Jake Kugler, and a half sister, Emma Renzelman, of Wray.
He was visiting his relatives here when he became seriously ill and died. Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Lockwood Mortuary with Rev. H. I. Maley, officiating. Burial will be in Grandview cemetery."

"Among the out-of -town relatives who came to attend the funeral services for George Yung were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Collier and Eddie Collier of Tolaga, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. James Ruble of Woodward, Oklahoma, John Yung of Canton, Oklahoma, and Melvin Peterman of Seling, Oklahoma. They also remained to spend a few days with a sister, Mrs. Emma Renzelman, and a brother, Jake Kugler. "

JOHN YUNG

John Yung 1878-1960 is buried in Dewey County, Oklahoma # 93354351, with Grace M. (Adams) Yung 1887-01967.
"Son of John & Pauline Yung who came from Stutgart, Germany in 1883 to the United States along with John and one brother, George and two sisters, Pauline and Freda."

"ELOISE JEWELL (DEDRICK) KIMBALL MYERS, was born Feb. 11, 1931 in Dewey County, OK to Walton Charles and Freda Myrtle (Yung) Dedrick. She departed this life Dec. 18, 2014 in the Seiling Hospital. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Brumfield Cemetery with Pastor Curtis Cox, officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 at Redinger Funeral Home.


PAULINE YUNG

Pauline (Yung) Collier 1876-1961 is buried in Taloga, Dewey County, Oklahoma # 93173604
It says she was born in Belgium, arriving in 1881....
"She married Robert Collier 11/5/1900 in Custer, Okla. In a 1900 census, Robert was 45 yrs. old, Pauline 32 yrs., Wm. Clark 3 yrs, Eddie 6 yrs., and Mary P. 11 yrs. "

"COLLIER Shirley, daughter of Mary (Hermanski) and Eddie Samuel Collier, and granddaughter of Dewey County pioneers, Pauline (Yung) and Bob Collier, was born and raised in Taloga, Oklahoma. Shirley attended Taloga schools for twelve years, and graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She taught English classes in Oklahoma and Kansas, before going to work for Kansas State University's Extension Service as a home economist. In the fall of 1963, Shirley entered the University of Oklahoma College of Law. During 1964, she worked in the U.S. Senatorial Campaign for Fred Harris. She approached Oklahoma's Senior Senator, A.S. "Mike" Monroney for a summer job in Washington. After a successful Harris campaign, Shirley was offered a staff job in the Washington office, providing she continue her law studies. In 1967, Shirley earned her law degree from George Washington University. Some of the many, many programs Shirley was involved in were: Office of Economic Opportunity for "Head Start" programs, the EMT program, Senior Citizen Centers, Oklahoma Health Planning Committee, and Western Plains Library System. Shirley passed the Oklahoma bar exam in February 1973, returning to her home in Taloga. Shirley was the first woman elected to the office of Vice President of the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1980, of which she was Chief Master. She was also President of the Dewey County Bar Association. Other programs Shirley was involved in were: Chairman of the Dewey County Democrat Party and Co-Chair of the Sixth District Democrats and Chair of the Sixth District for six years. Also Oklahoma Friendship Force, and gave legal advice to many needy families. Shirley was inducted into the Dewey County Hall of Fame in October of 1989.
Shirley is survived by her mother, Mary Briggs of Taloga; her son, Edd George and wife, Brooke Hughs of Syracuse, Kansas; her brother, R.W. Collier and wife, Rosa of Taloga; her sister, Pauline Fahle of Taloga; one granddaughter, Cheyenne.
Memorials may be made to University of Okla. Law School, Shirley Collier Scholarship Fund Taloga High School, Western Plains Library, Clinton, Ok.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 1990, at the Taloga High School Auditorium, Taloga, Ok. at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mound Cemetery, Taloga, OK. Arrangements by Shaw Funeral Home, Taloga."

EMMA

January 25, 1912 "On last Tuesday morning occured the wedding of Mr. Coney Renzelman and Mrs. Emma Bosler, at the home of the groom's parents, nine miles southwest of Wray, at 10 o'clock. Rev. W. F. Gleffe, pastor of the German church of Vernon officiated at the wedding. A very large number of relatives and friends were present to witness the ceremony which made this young couple one. At the noon hour a banquet was spread and everyone present enjoyed the occasion to the greatest extent. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Renzelman and has lived in Yuma county over twenty-one years. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kugler of six miles northwest of Wray. She has lived in the county only about two years but has made many friends since coming here. The new married couple will make their home on the Speicher farm six miles southwest of Wray. The Rattler joins their friends in wishing them a happy and prosperous life."

In 1920 Vernon, Conrad Renzelman is farming, 31, with Emma Catherine 26, Velma Mary 9, Walter Conrad Renzelman 3.

Emma Kugler Renzelman 1893-1981 is buried in Wray # 61453414.

KARL
Karl Kugler proved up 320 acres in sections 9 and 10, 2N 44W in 1916, and another 120 acres for Stock in 1920.

January 1916 "Thru the agency of Cosie Blanchard , two more land sales were completed this week. One of the quarters belonging to the Davenport estate was sold to L. G. Anderson, and another quarter section belonging to the same estate was purchased by Carl and Jake Kugler. These farms are located about seven miles northwest of town . "

August 1953 "Mrs. Cuney Renzelman and Argil and Jake Kugler returned home the first of the week from Tuloga, Okla., where they had spent several days visiting a brother and sister of Mrs. Renzelman and Mr. Kugler. "


April 1913 "John Mock has been putting in the week at the Kugler Ranch painting up the buildings and fixing up in general."

September 1928 " Gotfried Kugler, a former resident of north of Wray, is vistiing his sons Jake and Cary Kugler here this week Mr. Kugler now makes his home at St. Joseph, Mo. He will return to his home the last of this week."

March 1, 1945 "Karl Kugler passed away at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Coney Renzelman at 1:30 a. m. Monday, February 26, 1945 at the age of 57 years,seven months and two days. Mr. Kugler had been in poor health for about two years and sometime ago had contracted the flu which left him with a weakened heart. He was treated for a time at the Wray hospital and moved later to the home of his sister where he was given every care. Mr. Kugler was born July 24, 1887 at Glen Elder, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gotfred Kugler. When just a lad he moved with his parents to western Kansas and in 1909 took a homestead north of Wray, which remained his home until the time of his death. Karl and his brother Jake made their home together on the homestead. He united with the Presbyterian church at an early age. His parents preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his brother Jake, one sister, Mrs. Coney Renzelman; two half brothers, George and John and one half sister, Mrs. Pauline Collier of Tologa, Oklahoma; also nine nieces and nephews and many other less near relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Lockwood Mortuary conducted by the Rev. Lewis W. Hanson. Interment was in Grandview."

JACOB

1949 "Mrs. Dora Thacker sold her house in southwest Wray to Jake Kugler at an auction Monday."

Jacob 1889-1967 # 81581417 and Karl share a tombstone in Wray.
