Urial and Fannie (Vernon) Higbee, Wray


In 1870 Louisa County, Iowa, William H. Vernon is 54, Elizabeth 44, Lewis L. 26, Henry F. 23, John A. 20, Frank P. 18, Fannie F. 15, William L. 13, I. Shelly 11, and Edith E. 4.

Also in Louisa County, Joseph Higbee is farming, 64, born in New York, with racchel 57 in Ohio. Urial 17, SYlvester 16, and Susan 14 were born in Iowa. They're next to William Higbee 22 farming, with Naomi 19 and Darilla seven months.

Joseph F. Higbee 1806-1891 is buried in Louisa County # 10919018, with Rachel (Matthews) Higbee 1813-1891 # 52453210.
"Rachel Matthews, who was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, was united in marriage with Joseph Fenton Higbee, Jan. 16, 1813. She is the daughter of Isaac and Nancy [Hamilton] Matthews, her father a native of Trumball County, Ohio and her mother of New Jersey. On the 2nd of July, 1888, Mr. Higbee and his wife saw the close of fifty-nine years of wedded life, which has been full of sunshine and happiness, darkness and sorrow, such as come to all in this world. Fifteen children were born to this worthy couple."

Fannie Vernon and Uriah Higbee married in Louisa County, Iowa on December 25, 1876.

They said all were born in Iowa.

In 1900 Urial is in Denver, a day laborer, born Sept 1852, married 23 years to Fannie Feb 1856, Gordon Mar 1881, Cecile June 1884, all four in Iowa, Shelby July 1889, Jesse Feb 1891 and Hazel May 1899, all three in COlorado.

In 1910 Pasadena, California, Urail is 55, Fannie F. 52, Hazel 10, Shelby J. 20, Letha L his wife 18 born in West Virginia, and Leslie H. ten months old, born in Colorado.

Fannie Fern (Vernon) Higbee 1855-1943 is buried in Altadena, California # 73166186, with Urial 1852-1934 # 73166229.

LENA

Lena Higbee and Frederic Williamson married in Colorado on December 11, 1896.

They had Lavonne Lena Williamson on December 12, 1909 in Pueblo, Colorado, named Allen in 1949.

They're in Pueblo in 1910, and in 1920 are in Pasadena, California, where Fred is a steam engineer, both 42, with Hazel 13, Lena 11, Gladys 15, and Frederick 18.

Lena is buried in Glendale, California 1878-1936 # 136147748, with Fred 1878-1961 # 136147747.


JAMES GORDON

James is a tree trimmer in 1910 Denver, 29, married to Jessie M. 24, with Edard G. 5.

In 1940 Los Angeles County, James is 59, no occupation, with Jessie 54 born in COlordo, Blanche 19 in California, and Raymond 28, divorced, born in Colorado.

He died December 1, 1959 in Los Angeles County, born March 1, 1881 in Iowa.

CECILE

Cecila L. Higbee and Albert J. Bradley married in Denver on APril 28, 1906.

In 1910 Denver, Albert J. Bradley is a stonecutter, 30, born in Illinois, with Laura C. 25 born inIOwa, George 3 and Alberta 1.

All four are in Santa Barbara, California in 1920.

SHELBY

Jay, 21, is in Denber in 1910, married to Letha M. 18, with Harold G. 1. They're living with Letha's family John A. Lytle 46 and Mary E. 44, from West Virginia.

They're in Pasadena in 1920, Jay a church janitor, 30, with Letha M. 27, harold G. 10, Lois M. 8, and Lloyd L. 5.

In 1940 Pasadena, Jay is a merchant, 50, with Detha M. 48, Lloyd D. 25, and Fay G. 2.
(Jay Gilbert Higbee was born Dec 16, 1937 in Santa Barbara County, mother's maiden name Honey.)

Jay Shelby registered for WWII in Lake Tahoe, California, born July 5, 1889 at "RAY, Colorado." working for the Rial Shipyard, with reference Fanny Higbee of Santa Barbara.

Jay died in Los Angeles County December 2, 1960, mother's maiden name Vernon.

Letha Mau Higbee, born January 20, 1892, died in CUrry County, Oregon Nov 3, 1978.

Harold G. Higbee, an engineer, born in Denver on May 19, 199, ided in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico on July 16, 1955, remainst to be transported frto Santa Clara California cemetery, wife Helen.
