" The death of Mrs. Lydia Ellen Ewing occurred Saturday, February 17th, 1917
at her home six miles northwest of Wray. Mrs. Ewing had not been ill but a few days,
suffering from an attack of pneumonia. Her condition became very serious two or
three days before and Saturday morning at 9:15, she passed away.
Five years ago, Mrs. Ewing came to Wray and shortly afterwards took a
homestead six miles northwest of Wray where she has since made her home and
where her death occurred.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the
Presbyterian church, Rev. Wolff, the pastor, having charge of the same.
Burial was made in Grand View cemetery.
Mrs. Ewing was 63 years, 10 months and 14 days of age when she was called
away, and for many years had been a member of the Baptist church.
She leaves three children, two sons, Roy, who resides near Eckley,
Bert, who resides near his mother's home northwest of Wray,
and a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Godsey, also of near Eckley,
and two brothers, Rev. John Gier, of Kimbal, Kansas,
and William Gier, of Eldorado Springs, Missouri."

C. H. Ewing, a former resident of this community in 1917 and who lived west of
Wray at the time of the death of his wife and babies, died April 9, 1958 at Falrview, Okla. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Chester Ewing of Buhl, Ida., John Ewing of Chehalia. Wash., Gilbert Ewing of Independence. Mo., Mrs. Leeta Edlngfield of Falrview, Okla., and Mrs. Zella Van Norstrand of Bloomington, Calif.; a brother, R. J. Ewing of Parma, Ida., and a sister, Mrs. Lola Godsey of Chehalia, Wash.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

March 22, 1917 "We are sorry to chronicle the death of Mrs. Bert Ewing
, who with her husband and children resided about six miles
northwest of Wray, and whose death occurred Saturday. About a month ago,
Mrs. Ewing became the mother of triplets, the babies dying within a day or
two. A few days after this, she was taken with a severe attack of pneumonia,
but was recovering from this when other complications set in which
resulted in her death.
Mrs. Ewing was just a young woman, age 28 years, 6
months and 14 days, and leaves her husband and five children, the
oldest one being thirteen years of age and the youngest child of two
years of age. To these are extended the sympathy of the people in
their loss of the wife and mother.
Funeral servics were held Monday morning
at the Presbyterian church and burial made in Grand View."

She was a member of the Busy Bee Homemaker Club where she received her 50-year pin. She remained on the farm until 2000 when she entered Fairview Fellowship Home.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Carolyn Seifried of Ringwood and Donna McFarlin of Wellston; three great-grandchildren, Sharla Gould, Travis Seifried, and Matt McGuire; four great-great-grandchildren, Jestin, Will, Josie, and Braden.

John C. Ewing, 88, of Goldendale, died July 17, 1999.
He was born Feb.17, 1911 in Eckley, Colo. to Charles and Margaret Ewing. He attended schools in Wray, Colo. and came to Washington as a young man. John served in the Army during W.W. II and after returning he worked in the lumber mills and as a rancher, mostly near Chehalis.
He married Frances Eggert in 1958, and she died shortly after their move to Goldendale in 1980. John then married Daisy Brock in 1981, and she also preceded him in death in 1991.
John was a member of the LDS church; a 50-year member of the American Legion in Chehalis, and he loved old cars.
Survivors include a son, Conrad, of Winlock; five step-daughters, Arlie Gray of Goldendale, Dorothy Neil of Alamorgordo, N.M., Ruth Bloechl of Bremerton, Ada May Bloechl of Hagerman, N.M., and Dona Jerez of Republic; two step-sons, Ronald Barton of Buckley and Henry Gould of Raymond; 31 grandchildren; and two sisters, Zella Van Norstand of Rialto, Calif and Leeta Edingfield of Fairview, Okla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church in Goldendale. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Ronald Chester Ewing, 83, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Saturday,
May 12, 2018 at his home in Gooding.
Ronald was born on May 17, 1934 in Buhl, Idaho, the son of Chester and
Delsie Ewing. He was raised and educated in Buhl.
He married Janice Rose Driesel on July 14, 1952 in Buhl. Ronald was a master
mechanic for most of his life and owned his own service station. He also
operated Ron’s Towing for several years.
Ron was involved in the Sherriff’s Posse; was an E.M.T.; and was a school
bus inspector for over 10 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gooding.
Ron was loved by all who knew him. He was a real loving person to everyone
that he met over the years. We will really miss him!
Ron is survived by: three sons, Ronald Lynn (Nancy) Ewing of Gooding, Randy
(Marsha) Ewing of Denver, Colorado and Scott (Christina) Ewing of Winston,
Oregon; two daughters, Catherine (Ron) Price of Payette and Mary (Bill)
Dayley of Gooding; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren;
and six great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Janice Ewing; his parents; one son,
Shelby; one daughter, Sharna; his brother, Gaylord Ewing; and grandson,
Charles Ritter.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 to
7:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00am at The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gooding. A visitation will be
held from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the church.
Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

"Clara M. Eckert was born near Osceola, Mo., Feb. 17, 1875. Passed away at her home near Elkhart June 21, 1916. Being at the time of her death 41 years, 4 months and 4 days of age. She was married December 29, 1892 to Mr. Albert H. Robey of this place. To this union were born 4 sons, James Grant, David Francis, Sherman Arthur and Marion Albert, all of whom with the father remain. Besides her family she leaves a mother, three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Florence Eckert the mother’ Mrs. Roy Ewing, Eckley, Colo.; Mrs. Elmer Whistler, Kansas City, Kans.; Mrs. L. W. Keele, of this city, the sisters and Mrs. Chas. And James Eckert, both of Butler, have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
Mrs. Robey was a woman of excellent Christian character, loved and esteemed by all who knew her. By her life, patience and love she has won a host of friends who join with the family in sharing this irreparable loss. Words fail us at this time to express our hearts for such a life as hers.
The funeral service was held at the home near Elkhart Friday June 23, at 9 a.m. by Rev. R. M. Talbert, of the Butler Christian church and the body laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. -- The Adrian Journal, June 29, 1916"

Mr. Ewing died Nov. 14, 1999, in Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville. He was 85.
Born April 23, 1914, on the family farm in Eckley, Colo., he was the son of Roy Jacob and Nellie Eckert Ewing. He spent his childhood in Colorado and Missouri. He graduated from Yuma High School in 1933.
He and Lucille Tribbett were married Jan. 27, 1935.
The Ewings moved to the Northwest in 1936. Mr. Ewing worked in a sawmill in Onalaska, Wash. They returned to Colorado in the late 1930s, then settled in Dayton in 1943.
Mr. Ewing worked in the Portland shipyards during World War II. He also helped build Camp Adair.
After the war, he worked in the construction industry for about 30 years. He helped build many homes and commercial structures in McMinnville and other areas of the Willamette Valley.
He also farmed commercially on the family farm on Neck Road. After he suffered a heart attack in 1973, his farming was reduced to a large garden and a few animals.
Mr. Ewing loved the outdoors and enjoyed being around horses and wildlife. As a young man, he had ridden in rodeos and played football. As an adult, he enjoyed hunting trips with his sons and grandsons. He continued to hunt elk when he was in his 80s.
Mr. Ewing was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed gunsmithing and carving wooden gunstocks. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church for almost 60 years. He attended Trinity Lutheran most of that time.
Relatives said Mr. Ewing will be remembered as a willing listener who was eager to be a friend.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Yvonne Dooley of Woodburn; two sons, Larry Ewing of Dayton and Michael Ewing of Prineville; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
"Lucille Tribbett Ewing, 95, the beloved matriarch of the Ewing/Dooley family, passed away on January 31, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Pat Dooley, in Woodburn, Oregon. She was born on the family farm in Yuma, Colorado in 1918 to Edgar and Elizabeth (Lensert) Tribbett. She was the third born of ten children in her family.
Lucille attended school through the eighth grade. At that time she quit school to help on the family farm after her brother Harley passed away. She loved attending Lutheran school for two years and always passed on her strong faith and wisdom to family and friends alike. In 1935, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Ewing, and together they had three children, Yvonne "Pat" Dooley (Leonard), of Woodburn, Michael Ewing (deceased in 2002) and Larry Ewing (Anne) of McMinnville.
Lucille and Lloyd moved to the Onalaska, Washington area in 1936. They returned to Colorado in the late 1930's then settled in Dayton in 1943. Lucille worked as a welder in the shipyards during the war. She also worked as a telephone operator and a store clerk. Lucille went to work for the Oregon State Accident Insurance Fund and retired after 23 years as a supervisor with an accommodation from the Governor.
After her retirement, Lucille began painting china and received multiple awards for her artwork. She enjoyed gardening with her husband especially her prized rose garden. Friends and family remember her as a gracious hostess who always opened her home and had an extra place at the table. As one relative said "Gram had a way of making each one of us feel special". Throughout her 95 years on this earth, Lucille left every place she went a little brighter.
Lucille is survived by her children, Yvonne "Pat" Dooley, Larry Ewing, sisters Sylvia Roth, Shirley Fox, brothers Charles "Chuck" Tribbett, Eugen Tribbett, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1999 and son Michael in 2002.
Lucille was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church attending St. John Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church, both of McMinnville."

Lola E. Ewing, 23, married Lynn S. Godsey on February 28, 1914 in Akron, Colorado.
They're farming in Yuma County in 1920, Lynn 32 born in Colorado, Lola 31 in Missouri, Zylphia 5 and Marva 1 in Colorado. (They're next to my great[uncle Frank Woodward, so they would be in the Waverly area about ten miles northeast of Yuma -mdm)
1940 Yuma "Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Godsey of Anninka, Washington, visited at the Roy Ewing home Sunday. Mrs. Godsey is a sister of Mr. Eeing. They are also visiting with relaties north of Eckley.

"Marva Sabin was born on July 14, 1918, north of Eckley, Colo., to Lynn and Lola Godsey. Her family moved to Onalaska, Wash., her junior year where she graduated in 1936.
Marva married Willis Ray on Oct. 31, 1937. She and Willis lived with his father, where they ran a dairy business called Ray's Dairy. Marva and Willis had two children, a daughter, Patricia and a son, Douglas. She worked at Mary McCrank's Restaurant from 1954 to 1982. In January of 1967, Willis was killed in a car accident.
Marva married Jim Sabin on Oct. 8, 1978. They traveled the world over and went places such as Europe, Australia, Alaska, Panama Canal, the Orient and many other places in the United States. They also enjoyed dancing.
Marva was the longest standing member of the Onalaska Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Lola Godsey, husband, Willis Ray and husband, Jim Sabin and followed in death by her daughter-in-law, Donna Ray.
Marva is survived by two children, Patricia (Glenn) Faires of Longview, Wash., and Douglas Ray of Vancouver, Wash., and three step-children, Judy (Glenn) Castle of Long Beach, Wash., Liz (Bob) Henderson of Rainier, Ore., and James (Linda) Sabin of Onalaska, Wash., 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Zylpha Godsey, 25, married Harry G. King on April 9, 1940 in Lewis County, Washington.
She died in Seattle on May 30, 1972.

Sept 2, 1910 Wray " Dr. David Sisson who is visiting relatives in this vicinity has received word
of the birth of a daughter in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ewing of Athens, Ohio.
Mrs. Ewing was formerly Miss Nora Sisson and is known to many of the older settlers in Wray and vicinity. "
