Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

E. A. Clark, Wray

August 31, 1933

"Forty-one years ago E. A. Clark homesteaded north of Wray on the place where Roy Foster now resides and spent a year or so here, during which time he gained local repute as a fiddler and played for dances over this territory. Later he left, and last Friday he came back to Wray, for his first visit here in forty-one years. He now resides at Walnut, Kansas. Accompanying Mr. Clark on his return visit here was Roy Robinson and his two daughters of Sharon Springs, Kansas. Mr. Robinson is a nephew of T. M. Robinson who taught school here in the early days. Among the old time friends who Mr. Clark found on his return visit were Henry Wells, Mrs. Anna Neinabor, John Spiers and many others. Art Wells took the gentlemen over the town and helped them locate old acquaintances. Mr. Clark expressed surprise at the progress which the town had made since his last visit. There were no trees in Wray forty-one years ago, he said and only a few buildings. No one thought then that crops would ever thrive in the sandhills and there were many other changes which he noted."
