April 10, 1913 "Mrs. Harry Bates and children of Prairie View, Kansas, arrived this week. Mr. Bates has purchased the Anderson place north of Wray. "
April 1913 "Mrs. Harry Bates and children arrived last week from Prairie View,
Kansas, but on account of sickness of the baby was compelled to remain
at the hotel in Wray until Saturday. Mr. Bates in company with his brother,
John, arrived with the teams Friday. They were somewhat delayed
on the road by last week's blizzard."
Harry C. Bates registered for WWI in Wray, born Sept 1, 1881, farming, with Ella.
Willie Taylor proved up 320 acres in sections 7, 17, and 18 in 1919, and stock-claimed an additional 80 acres in section 7 and 17 in 1920.

born in Kansas, Ellen 39 in Iowa.
Alice 11 and Nettie 9 were born in Kansas,

visiting with Harry and family the past ten days."

Harry Bates and wife were calling at Mr. Pickett's last week."
In 1930 Harry is still farming, 48, with Ella L. 49, Nettie L. 20, Mary R. 14, Francis M. 12,
and his brother Henry P. 59 born in Wisconsin.
1944 "Christmas Day guests at the Charles Houston home were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sparks and Larry of Benkelman, Mir. and Mrs. Harry Bates, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dangberg and Miss Wilma Bates."
January 1946 "Harry Bates 520 A. 5 miles north of Wray. Well located and $15.00 (per acre) takes it."
September 1948 " Next Thursday, Sept. 9, Harry C. Bates of six miles north of Wray will sell 33 head of cattle, farm machinery and other property at a sale beginning at 1 o'clock. Mr. Bates is leaving the farm. Dale Quiggle is auctioneer for this sale with Robert Seward as clerk."
December 18, 1952 "
Lucetta Ellen Bates, daughter of Reuben and
Frances Shook, was born at Peoria, Iowa,
February 21, 1881. After a long illness, that suddenly become critical,
she died at the Wray Community hospital at 1:10 o'clock Friday morning,
Dec. 12, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 21 days.
On August 6, 1907, she was married to Harry C. Bates at Phillipsburg, Kansas.
Four daughters were born to this union. Mrs. Bates had been an active member
of the First Presbyterian church of Wray until her illness forced her to
discontinue her church activities.
Besides her husband, Harry, Mrs. Bates is survived by the following:
Two daughters by a previous marriage,
Jennie (Sweetwood) (Kummer) Thacker of Wray and Susie Sweetwood of Canada;
four daughters born to her and Mr. Bates;
Mrs. Alice Houston of Wray, Mrs. Rosella Sparks of Golden,
Mrs. Nettie Finnegan of California, and Mrs. Mabel Dangberg of Idalia;
a brother, William Shook of North Platte, Neb.;
a sister, Mrs. Florence Palmer of North Platte;
several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bates were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. W. S. Ickler officiating. Burial was in Grandview cemetery."

Harry is buried in Wray 1881-1962 # 17005552.
NETTIE
John Stevenson of Wray and Nettie Bates of Wray obtained a marriage license at Wray on Feb. 22, 1931.
"Miss Nettie Bates and John Stevenson of Wray were united in marriage by Rev. A. M. Carpenter at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stevenson in Wray on Sunday, Feb. 22. The parents of the bride were present at the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson will make their home on a farm near Vernon."

September 1948 "Mrs. Nettle Braae of Kelso, Wash., left Monday for home
after spending three weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bates,
and at the Tony Kummer, Charles Houston, Ed Dangberg and Alva Sparks homes."
In 1949 Kelso, Wshington, Mrs. Nettie M. Braae is a mill worker, living at 1027 12th with Admiral N. Braae.
Admiral Braae of Montana and
Alice P. Wortham of Montana had a daughter Cleo, who, divorce, 21, living in Centralia, Washington, married Ben E. Needham on May 15m 1851.

August 1942 "Mrs. Harvey Sparks, who had been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bates of northwest of Wray, returned to her home at Benkelman, Nebraska, Sunday night. "
ALICE
Charlie Houston married Alice J. Bates on February 20, 1928 in Sterling, Colorado.
Alice was in Yuma County in 1920, 11, with parents Harry Bates 38 and Ellen 39. Nettie is 9, Rosella 4, aand Francis 1.
1944 " Mr. and Mrs. Charley Houston and family spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Houston's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bates."
" A beautiful candlelight wedding occurred at the Presbyterian church
Sunday evening, January 1, 1950, with Rev. Moore G. Bell officiating, when Miss Ethel Houston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Houston, became the bride oi Sergeant William Hollis Denman, son of Jay Denman of Detroit, Mich., now stationed at Ft. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming."
FRANCES MABLE
Frances Mabel Bates and Edward C. Dangberg married in Yuma COunty on June 10, 1939.
July 1952 "Final rites were held Monday afternoon at St. John's church at Idalia
for Edward C. Dangberg, widely known farmer of the Idalia community, who died
Friday afternoon, July 4, in the Community hospital at Wray. Death was attributed
to a heart condition. Rev. Mueller, pastor of the church, conducted the
service and burial followed in St. John's cemetery.
Mr. Dangberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Dangberg, was born
on November 5, 1908, in the Idalia community and lived his entire life here.
He graduated from the Wray high school and became a farmer and livestock raiser.
He was highly respected in the community.
On June 10, 1939, he was married to Frances Mable Bates. He was a faithful
husband, a devoted son and brother and he had a host of friends.
As a baby he
was baptized in St. Johns E. and R. church of Idalia.
Mr. Dangberg had been in declining health since the first of the year
and had been unable to carry on his accustomed duties. He was taken to
the Community hospital at Wray when he suffered a serious heart attack
and he died there at 4:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the age of 43 years,
7 months and 29 days.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1909:
three brothers, George who died in 1911, Carl whose death occurred in 1932
and Fred, to whom death came in 1944.
Surviving him are his wife, Mable
his mother, Mrs. William Boden; a sister,
Mrs. Minnie Lengel; a nephew, Leland Lengel and other relatives."
Edward 1908-1952 is buried in Idalia # 64937892.
Mable E. Pinckard - December 18, 1918 - May 5, 1989
is buried in Wray, marrying Willard G. Pinckard 1911-2006 on January 27, 1956.
