In 1860 Benton County, Iowa, Nicholas Hite is 23, Decia A. 19, with Malinda E. 1.

In 1870 Greene County, Pennsylvania, Daniel Wade is a carpenter, 40, with Mary 38, Emily 19, William 17 is a farm hand, Sherod C. 12, Thomas 9, and Mary 6 all born in West Virginia. Irene is 1, born in Pennsylvania.

In 1880 Greene County, Daniel is 50, with "Elizabeth" 45, and her kids - James Rice 22, Hannah E. 20, Elizah 17, Sarah Ann 14 and Jefferson L. 13.

Next door is William Wade 27, now married to Laura 23 and a daughter. Wiliam's siblings Ma Clemmie 21, Thomas E. 18, Mary L. 15, Cyrenus 11, and Daniel F. 1 are with William.

Shired Clemens Wade, 24, born in West Virginia to Daniel Oliver Wade and Mary Davis, married Melina E. Hite on October 18, 1882 in Warren County, Iowa.
She was 24, born in Benton County, Iowa to Nicholas Hite and Anna Hocker.
In 1885 Tama County, Iowa, S. Clemens is 26, "employed by V..", with Ella 26 and newborn Henry. On the same page are Henry Hite 53 farming, with Mildred Ann 53. Henry is probably Nicholas Hite's brother, uncle of Ella.


Shired Clemmens Wade and Melinda Ella Hite had Holand C. Wade on November 8, 1890 in Dysart, Tama County, Iowa.

In 1900 Murray County, Minnesota, "Sheran" C. Wade is a dentist, born Feb 1859 in Virginia, with Ella Feb 1858 Iowa. Leroy Sept 1884 and Hollan Dec 1890 were born in Iowa.

February 14, 1908 Yuma Colorado "S. C. Wade of Hollbrook, Neb., and son, J. L. of Laird were Yuma visitors the forepart of the week."

February 1908 "Mr. Wade The Land Agent is being visited this week, by his father, from Holbrook."

April 1909 "Ceryl Wade has been on the sick list for the past week."

In 1910 Yuma County, Shired is farming, 51, born in West Virginia, Melinda E. 51 in Iowa, married 27 years. Holland E is 19, Minnie H. 11, born in Minnesota.

August 1912 "Shired C. Wade the proprietor of the Laird hotel, was a Wray caller Monday."

August 15, 1912 "Mrs. Etta Gilbert has closed her restaurant except to her regular boarders. Wade's are running a short order counter but there is talk of a new restaurant being started soon."

November 6, 1913 "We have opened a cream station at Laird in charge of S. S. Wade, who will pay the highest market price for all cream delivered to him. We solicit your patronage.
Swift & Co. Denver"

July 1914 "S. L. Wade has closed the restaurant and moved to his ranch north of Laird, to which he will give his best attention. No money in the restaurant business is the reason for the change. The cream station will be under charge of Mrs. Allen."

August 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Wade are spending a week visiting in their old home at Wauneta, Nebraska."

April 1915 "R. F. Thompson, of northeast of Laird has traded his farm for a hardware store in Woodfuff, Kansas, and will move there shortly to take charge of the same. Mr. Thompson is advertising a public sale of his stock and machinery for Wednesday, April 28, at his farm."


Shired claimed 320 acres in section 19, 2N 42W in 1916.
July 1917 Wray "S. C. Wade of Laird, was doing business in town yesterday."

Shired and Melinda are alone in 1920 Yuma County, farming.

May 11, 1922 "Mrs. Ella Wade, who has been visiting in Nebraska with her sons for several months, has returned to her home north of Laird and will have a sale next Saturday at Laird. Mrs. Wade expects to leave on Sunday, May 14, for California."

The stone in Pomona, California # 22572119 has "Father S.C. Wade - Feb 12, 1853- Feb 26-1921, and Ella Hite Wade Feb 1, 1958- July 17, 1932 # 22572131.


MINNIE HELEN

David Cox proved up 240 acres in section 32, 5N 42W in 1919, adjoining Everett T. Cox's 1917 claim of 240 acres in sections 3 and 4, 4N 42W in 1917.

April 1, 1915 Laird items "Everett Cox called on Miss Helen Wade Sunday."

April 8 "Miss Helen Wade, E.L. Palmer and Albert Samson were passengers to Wray on No. 13 last Friday."

Minnie married Everett Theodore Cox on October 18, 1915 in Yuma County, Colorado.

October 21, 1915 "A very pretty home wedding occurred at the home of Mrs. S. C. Wade, north of Laird, last Monday, when their daughter, Helen, became the wife of Mr. Everett Cox of Witherbee, Colorado. The happy couple will make their home on the groom's homestead. A host of friends in Laird and vicinity wish them much joy and happiness. Rev. Martin, of Haigler, performed the ceremony."

1908 McCook, Nebraska "Miss Estella Cox of Driftwood precinct and Daniel Tirrill of McCook were united in marriage at the homo of the brides parents on Driftwood last Sunday at high noon Elder II H Berry officiating Relatives of tho young couple and friends witnessed the happy event A wedding dinner was served after the ceremony The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs David Cox of Driftwood precinct the groom a son of Mr and Mrs J E Tirrill of McCook "

Everett was in northeast Yuma County in 1910, with parents David 55 and Emeline 50, both born i nIowa. Everett is 20, Ernest 17, both born in Nebraska.

Everett Cox is farming in south Yuma County in 1920, 29, born in Nebraska, with Minnie 21 Minnesota. Velma 2 and Maxine 1 were born in Colorado.

In 1930 Hayes County, Nebraska, Everett is farming, 39, Helen 31, Velma 12, Maxine 11, Ada M. 9, Darlene G. 3,a nd Lenora E. 2.

Everett T. Cox and Helen M. Anderson had Rodney Dennis Cox in Palisade, Nebraska March 12, 1934, who died June 19, 2005.

In 1940 Hayes County, Everett is 49, Helen M. 40, Ada 19, Darlene G. 13, Lenose E. 12, Rodney D. 6.
Ada was born in Colorado, the other kids in Nebraska.

Velma C. Cox, born April 15, 1912 in Yuma County, a musician, in Detroit, married Benedict J. Billetts J.r 25 of Detroit, also of Detroit, born in Chicago, married in Wood County Ohio on June 9, 1942.
She had a name change to Hanson in 1955.
(Benedict J. Billets born January 21, 1917 in Valpariaiso, Indiana, died April 17, 2000 in Jasper County, Indiana.
He was to be buried in the Weston cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana.)
FindaGrave # 169518736 has him as Ben J. Billets, with Dorothy E. 1915-1979.

Velma Charlotte Hanson died March 30, 1998 and is buried inWhittier California # 106615257.

Darlene Nelson 1926-1961 is buried in Lenora, Kansas, # 49134188, with George Nelson 1914-1982 # 49134193.

Ada May Furrow, born June 28, 1919 in Idalia, died December 7, 1996.

Maxine Wilma Cox of Palisade, Nebraska, married Matt Kurse of Wauneta, Nebraska, in Wray on Sept 4, 1937.


She's buried in McCook 1918-1992 # 41749275 as Maxine Clark, with Lloyd Thomas Clark 1917-1999.
Matt Kruse is also buried in McCook # 103763047.

Arden Lee Kruse, 65, of Broken Bow, NE formerly of North Platte, NE died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Arden was born October 26, 1947, at McCook, NE to Matt and Maxine Cox Kruse. He grew up in North Platte and attended public schools. He made himself useful helping others who would ask for his help. Arden loved to be with people and was very social. He enjoyed mosaic work and music and loved to cook. Arden married Sylvia Ann Parsons on July 11, 1999, in North Platte where they made their home. She preceded him in death in 2009. Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Karlene Sommer, Pam Kackmeister and Toby Parsons, all of North Platte, Marty Parsons, of Lincoln, NE, Julie Parsons, of Nebraska and Jennifer (Larry "Bear") Hudgins, of Raleigh, NC; and his many friends including Mel (Jane) Canell, of North Platte.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Pastor Ron Lauber officiating. Inurnment will be in the Riverview Cemetery south of Sutherland.

Bertha Stueber is in Furnas County in 1900, with parents Fred Feb 1852 and Emma Oct 1857, both born in Germany. Clara R. May 1882 Pennsylvania, Edward F. June 1884, Birtha C. Jan 1885, Emma A. May 1891, and Charles F. Aug 1893 were all born in Nebraska.

Frederick 1852-1929 is buried in Holbrook, Nebraska # 1164025, with Emma J. 1858-1948.

James L. Wade, 22, of Furnas County, Nebraska, married Bertha C. Stueber, 19, daughter of Fred Stueber of Holbrook, Nebraska on Sept 12, 1906 in Red Willow County, Nebraska.


January 31, 1908 Laird "Mr. Wade, of the firm of Swan & Wade, was joined Wednesday by his wife. They will begin house-keeping at once in the Parkins building."

June 1908 Laird "J.A. Wade enjoyed a visit from his father Saturday and Sunday."

January 1909 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wade have returned home from Holbrook, where they spent the holidays with Mrs. Wade's parents."

February 1909 "Mr. Wade's baby swallowed a penny Tuesday eveing in which caused a bit of excitement the time but did not prove serious."


April 30, 1909 "Mr. and Mrs. Fountain moved to the Sand Hills Monday morning and J. L. Wade and wife took charge of the hotel."

April 23, 1909 "Miss Steuber, a sister of Mrs. Wade, came down from Yuma Sunday for a visit."
"J.L. Wade made a business trip to Strang, Nebr. Sunday."

September 3, 1909 "Three cases of typhoid fever are reported at Laird in the family of J.L. Wade. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wade and a sister of Mrs. Wade are quite sick but just what the development will be cannot be told at the present writing."

March 1910 "J.W. Gilbert sold his barber shop in Laird to J.L. Wade, and Mr. Wade took possession last Friday."
March 11, 1910 "Bose Gilbert has sold his barber shop to Roy Wade."

In 1920 York County, Nebraska, James is a barber, 35, born in Iowa, with Bertha 33 born in Nebraska. Cyril is 12, Winston 6, and Evelyn 4, all born in Nebraska.
In 1930 Los Angeles, Bertha Wade is 43, divorced, with Robert 22, Winston 17, and Evelyn 14, all born in Nebraska.

Bertha C. Wade is divorced in 1940 Los Angeles, a masseuse, 53, with Winston L., Wade, 27, also divorced.

James registered for WWII in Los Angeles, unable to work, born Sept 11, 1883 in Iowa. He's living at 1221 W.7th in Los Angeles. Bertha is living at 334 1/2 North Palm Avenue in Beverly Hills.

James Leroy Wade, born Sept 11, 1883 in Iowa, died in Orange County, California October 3, 1943.
He's buried in Forest Lawn # 85540452.
On the same wall plate is Winston LeRoy Wade 1913-1978, Milton L. 1909-1971, and Lynne 1913-1972 CHARLESTON

In 1910 Furnas County, Cyril Wade, 3, is living with grandparents Fred Stueber 58 and Emma 51. Charley Stueber i s 16.



April 1909 Laird items "Little Syral Wade has been quite sick."

Robert C. Wade and Julia Cecilia Wynn born in North Dakota, 38, married in Beverly Hils, California March 4, 1946.

Robert Cyril Wade 1907-1953 dying in Los Angeles.

March 1938 Los Angeles "A young mother and a step-father were released on bail today pending arraignment on charges they beat and gagged crippled Dolorez Martens, 8, and tied her to a doorknob. The mother, Mrs. Margaret Wade, and her husband, Winston L. Wade, said the child's story was ridiculous. They said she injured herself by falls while roller-skating."
April 1938 "April 23. Mrs. Margaret Wade and her husband, Winston L. Wade, were given maximum jail sentences of 180 days by Judge Cecil D. Holland in justice court here today on their conviction of unjustifiable punishment of the woman's nine-year-old daughter, Dolores Mertens. In pronouncing the sentence, the judge said: "In a case of this kind, if the court had the jurisdiction it would impose longer sentences, especially as far as Mrs. Wade Is conerned. You can't make this court believe this woman has real motherly love."

Winston Leroy Wade 1913-1978 dying in San Luis Obispo County.
Lynne Wade Gray, 33, daughter of James LeRoy Wade and Bertha Stueber, married LeRoy McClean on August 5, 1949 in Los Angeles.


HOLLAND

There's an Ethel Brannon in 1910 Chase County, Nebraska, 17, with William 55 and Anna 51, Bergie 27.
William H. Brannan 1854-1918 is buried in Wauneta # 64167653, with Anna A. (Scott) Brannan 1856-1938 # 64167647.

Rural Mail Route # 3 south of Wauneta was started in 1913 with Holland Wade as the first carrier.

Holland is a meat cutter in 1920 Wauneta, Nebraska, 29, born in Iowa, with Ethel B. 27 Nebraska, Melvin C. 5, Floyd C. 4 and Harold C. 2, all born in Nebraska.

He's a high school janitor in Wauneta in 1930, 39, with Ethel B. 37, Melvin C. 16, Floyd C. 15, Gerald C. 13, and Bena B. 9.

In 1940 Wauneta, Holand is 49, Ethel 47, Melvin 26, Floyd C. 25, and Bethene 19.

Holand C. Wade, born Nov 8, 1890, registered for WWII in Wauneta

Holand C. Wade 1890-1950 and Ethel B. Wade 1892-1984 are buried in Wauneta. So are Floyd C. 1915-1955 and Velma I. 1914-1993 (nee Sexton)

Floyd Wade passed away on Thanksgiving morning 1956, and Ethel Wade and Floyd's widow, Velma, continued to run the business for four years. In 1961, they sold the business to Orval Hamilton.


Their son, Private Gerald C. Wade, a married grocery clerk in 1940 Wauneta, died in Germany October 19, 1944, buried in Belgium.



Floyd C. Wade served on the USS Nagota 1944-1945, and is buried in Wauneta 1915-1955.

Melvin 1914-1986 is buried in Adams County, Nebraska # 100688902
"Melvin C. "Slim" Wade, 71, of Blue Hill died Thursday in Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church at Blue Hill with the Rev. Lyle Linder presiding. Burial will be in the Blue Valley Cemetery near Ayr. Memorials should be given to the Methodist church. Mr. Wade was born March 25, 1914, in Wauneta. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Wauneta for eight years before serving in the Navy during World War II.
He was in the Navy for about five years and then moved to Blue Hill where he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad from 1946 to 1975. He retired in 1975.
He married Jessie Koch Meyer Sept. 11, 1959. He was a member of the American Legion Shirley Post 176.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie of Blue Hill; two stepsons, Jerry Meyer and John Meyer, both of Blue Hill; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ronald (LaDonna) Holsten of Beatrice; eight stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Bethene Strickland of Sierra Vista, Ariz."

Bethene Strickland, born Sept 6, 1920, died December 23, 1986.

Brother Cyrenius Wade married Nettie Hall in Linn County, Iowa on January 1, 1892.
is a real estate agent in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1910, and in Pomona, California in 1920.

Thomas Wade is farming in Minnesota in 1900, now marreid to Florence 32.
Florence's parents, Samuel Hite 70 and Mary Hite 58 are with them. Samuel was in Benton County Iowa in 1850, with brothers Nicholas and David. So
Florence would be the cousin of the Melinda Ella Hite Wade of Yuma County.

Thomas E. Wade 1861-1934 is buried in Moscow, Idaho # 22107043.
