John is in Nuckolls County, Nebraska in 1880, 5, with John 46 and Mary E. 31. Charles is 12,
Simpson 11, Laura 10, Albert 8, John 5, Melvin 4, and George 2.
In 1910 Dundy County, Nebraska, John H. Shill is farming, 35, born in Iowa, married ten years to Maude 28, Nebraska. Roy A. 9, J. Fay 7, Earl 4, Clarence J. 2, and Clyde foru months were all born in Nebraska. Alonzo F. Horton 19 born in Nebraska is probably Maud's brother.
John was delinquent on taxes for the improvements in the section 9 quarter in 1912.
John proved up a quarter in section 9, 2N 42W in 1916. His witnesses in the 1914 filing
were Robert A. Porter, Frank Thompson, George Ridlen, and Walter Garner, all of Laird.
In 1920 John and Maude are farming in Hooker, Nebraska, with Roy 19, Ida 16, Earl 14, Clarence 12, Clyde 10, Ethel 8, and Max., 2. Ethel was the only kid born in Colorado.
John and Maud are in Jewell County, Kansas in 1925, with Earl 20, Clarence 18, Clyde 15, Ethel 13, Max 7, and Lawrence 4.
Ethel was born in Colorado, all the other kids in Nebraska.
They're farming in Jewell County in 1930, and in 1940 Clay County Nebraska he's operatin a gas station, 65, with Maude 58 and Lawrence 19.

LAWRENCE
Lawrence Raymond Shill, 88, passed away Dec. 14, 2008.
He was born April 14, 1920, to John and Maude (Horton) Shill in Wallace, Neb., as the youngest of eight children.
In 1940 he met and married Lila Karnatz and moved to Longview.
Larry was a lifetime member of the Longview Elks, a member of the Pioneer Lions Club and an avid golfer. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, travel and family. Larry built, owned and operated Larry's Carnival Market for 30 years, until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lila, at home; four children and their spouses,
Richard (Ginny) Shill, Dennis (Carme) Shill, Janiece (Mike) Fox and Cindy King; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at Longview Memorial Park.
ROY
Roy Albert Shill 1900-1979 is buried in Longview # 40297929.
MAX
Max, 1917-1995 is buried in Longview, Washington, # 40298037.
ETHEL
August 21, 1903 Wray "Mrs. Conger of Laird, mother of Mrs. S. Galbreath
is quite ill this week. She is visiting at the home of L. G. Gralbreath."
October 5, 1916 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. John Conger are the proud parents
of a baby girl who arrived Friday night."
In 1940 Hayes County, Nebraska, Ethel is 28, married to Glenn Conger, a mechanic, 25, both born in
Colorado. Sharon Conger is nine months old, and Beverly Shill Ethel's daughter 6 is with them.
Glenn was the son of Iona Edna (Nickerson), named Conger in 1920, and married th Charles Peter Romerheuser in 1930.
Ethel G. Conger, 94, died in Cowlitz County on October 16, 2006.
EARL
"Earl M. Shill, 95, of Longview, died March 25, 2001, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born June 15, 1905, in Oak, Neb., to John Henry and Maude (Horton) Shill. He married Audrey Lightbody Feb. 29, 1940, in Ritzville, Wash. and they settled in Longview shortly after.
Mr. Shill worked for Weyerhaeuser Co., for 30 years. He retired as an oiler in the planer mill in 1971. He bowled for 30 years and enjoyed playing on the Weyerhaeuser retirees' team.
He also enjoyed golfing and got a hole-in-one on No.17 at Mint Valley Golf Course at the age of 88. This was witnessed by his special friend and golf partner, Fred Childres. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Longview and spent many hours in his shop making woodcrafted items. He loved clam digging and spending time with family and friends at the family cabin in Long Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996;
four brothers, Roy Shill, Clarence Shill, Clyde Shill and Max Shill; and a sister, Faye Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Lyon of Longview;
a brother, Larry Shill of Longview; a sister, Ethel Conger of Kelso; a grandson, Curtis R. Smelser II of Cedaredge, Colo.; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held from 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church,
entombment at Longview Memorial Park."
CLARENCE
"Erma Ruth Shill, the daughter of Leonard Ross and Cora Ethel (Bailey) Shaffer, was born on January 14, 1911 on a farm near Webber, Kansas. She passed away on January 10, 2007 in the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 26 days. Erma was a graduate of Webber High School, class of 1930. She taught grades 1 through 8 at the Monarch School in Jewell County for one year. She was united in marriage to Clarence Shill on March 8, 1932, this union was blessed with a son. They lived most of their married life in Webber, Kansas. Erma was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Webber and was baptized by immersion on August 23, 1977. Clarence preceded her in death in August of 1992. Erma then moved to Massachusetts to live with her son and daughter-in-law until she returned to Superior in June 1997."
SISTER LAURA
James E. Platt, 22, married Laura Shill, 21 in Marion County, Arkansas on Sept 9, 1891.
James is in Jewell County, Kansas in 1900, 30, with L.W. 30, and four kids.
He was born Jan 1, 1869 in Ohio, mother Vrooman, dying Oct 16, 1945 in Los Angeles County.
Also with them are Laura's brothers Frank Shill Aug 1857 born in Nebraska, and S.S> Nov 1869 in Iowa.
