February 28, 1908 "Simon Rife died last Friday, Feb. 21 at his home two miles west of Laird, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of nearly sixty years. The deceased was a pioneer resident of Yuma county, and leaves to mourn their loss a wife, six sons, and two daughters.
The funeral services were held Sunday at the home and were conducted by Rev. P. W. Walthall, of the Christian church. The remains were interred in Grand View cemetery. The bereaved family desire to extend thanks to their friends for the kindnesses shown them during the illness of Mr. Rife."

1902 Wray "Wesley Cue, a relative of Simon Rife from Iowa purchased the barber shop of Cook Blust last Friday and took possession immediately. Mr. Cue's family arrived Wednesday and they will occupy the Grigsby residence north of C. D. Picket."

August 1899 "Loan" Rife witnessed the shooting death of Harry Staininger near Laird, and immediately rode to Wray to notify the officers and relatives of the boys of the tragedy.


May 1899 Wray "Lionel Rife bought a buggy of Wm. Ellis last week and now his girl is happy."

MAUD married Lionel Rife, and stayed in Yuma County.

In 1900 Yuma County, Lionel is farming born January 1878 in Iowa, with Crete Oct 1881 in Nebraska. They hae Charles May 1900.

May 11, 1900 "Born - to Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Rife, last Monday, a bouncing baby boy."

August 1900 "Bash Murdock and L. B. Rife have started a saloon in Laird."

January 25, 1901 "Died - Charles, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Rife, Saturday, at 2 p.m. the parents and friends have the sympathy of the community."

Lionel proved up a quarter in 31, 2N 42W in 1909. His witnesses were Bob P. Miller, Daniel A. Murdock, William Rife, and David R. Roberts, all of Laird.

December 24, 1909 "Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Steele and Mr. Lone Rife and family spent Sunday with John Drommonds."

January 7, 1910 "Mrs. Lone Rife is spending a few days out on the flats with her sister, Mrs. Belle Drommond."

March 1910 "R. F. Roberts and Lone Rife each lost a horse from stock disease last week."

December 1911 Wray "Mrs. T. L. Steele and daughter, Mrs. L. B. Rife, of Laird were holiday shoppers at the county capitol last Monday afternoon between trains."

June 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Lone Rife and son, Roy, accompanied by Mr. Rife's mother left Laird Sunday evening for Squirrel Creek, Colo., to visit the T. L. Steele and John Drummond families. They will make the trip overland in the Rife car."

Lionel Bernard Rife registered for WWI in Yuma County.

In 1920 Yuma County, Lone B. is farming, 46, with Crete 36 and Roy S. 17. They're next to Ira Bushong and the Pilkingtons, so they're living north of Laird.

In 1930 Yuma County, Lionel is a poultryman 51, Lucretia M. 47.

In 1940 Colorado Springs, Lionel is 62, with Mary L. 58 (says both born in Iowa), no occupations.

Lionel 1878-1965 is buried in Wray # 57520785, with Mary Lucretia "Crete" 1885-1965.

Charles L. 1900-1901, Simon Leroy "Babe" 1902-1978, and Orlin Ray 1906-1906 "nfant son of Lionel "Cotton" & Crete Rife, died 3 mos, 12 days"

ROY

February 7, 1918 "Mrs. Alvira Rife entertained the Laird youngsters at her new home last Saturday evening in honor of her grandson, Roy Rife. About twenty guests were present and report a grand time."

January 1919 "Roy Rife and Orval Drummond of Union Ridge district are attending school at Laird."

Simon Leroy Rife, 19, married Maude Dimmick in Yuma County on April 9, 1922.

October 1923 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rife spent Sunday with the Wagner family."

He died in Loveland, and is buried in Fort Morgan 1902-1978 # 68660819, with Maude 1902-1995 # 68660841.
