Charles and Elfie (Jenkins) Ridley

Charles E. Ridley was farming in Benkleman, Nebraska in 1900, born April 1865 in Michigan, with Elsie June 1870 in Iowa. (She might be the Elfie M. Jenkins, born in Augusta Michigan, marrying Charles E. Ridley in Kalamazoo County June 19, 1898. She was in Jones County, Iowa in 1880, with Royal A. Jenkins 36 and Sarah J. 29, Charles H. 9, John R. 7, MARY A. 4)
His father George Feb 1838 is widowed, born in England.


1903 Wray "Mr. Ridley has severed connection with the City Meat Market."

January 1904 "Mrs. Chas Ridley visited friends and relatives in Benkelman several days the past week."

1905 Wray "Mrs. Craw of Stratton, Nebraska, is in the city the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reidley. Mrs. Craw will be remembed here as Miss Miller."

June 30, 1905 " Chas. Ridley has accepted a position at Blast's Confectionary."

December 1905 Wray "Simon Rife & Son's meat market was opened up for business Monday. Chas. Ridley is the meat cutter."

1906 Wray "Charles Ridley arrived home yesterday from Augusta, Michigan, where he had been to attend the funeral of his sister."
May (Ridley) (Sprague) Burdick 1863-1906 is buried in Augusta # 50532036.

May 24, 1907 Wray

June 21, 1907 "C. E. Ridley and wife left this week for Michigan, where they expect to make their future home."

Elfie is living with her parents in 1910 Mackinac County, Michigan, a seamstress, 34, with Royal 66 and Sarah 57 Jenkins>

Charles, a carpenter, 64, and Elfie are in Muskegon, Michigan in 1930. She died in 1930 in Ramsey County, Minnesota.

Her father Royal 1843-1930 is buried in Muskegon #70887066.

Charles Ridley 1865-1950 is buried in Augusta, Kalamazoo County, Michigan # 50326065.
So is Elfie 1875-1930 # 50326076.

Her brother is buried in Harrison, Arkansas # 125231499.
"John R. Jenkins, son of Royal and Sarah Smith Jenkins was born at Augusta Mich. July 21, 1870 and passed away May 7,1952 in Harrison, Ark. When but a small boy, the family moved to Iowa. On Feb. 22, 1899 he was married to Ada E. Bender. One son Carl B. was born of this union.
Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, the son, two grandsons, John Bert and Donald Warren Jenkins, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Nelson of Muskegon, Mich, and a brother Charles H. Jenkins of Starke, Florida. In 1919, the family moved to Neb and in 1932 to Harrison, Ark. Mr. Jenkins was a blacksmith and carpenter and a member of the Harrison Methodist church.
Funeral services were held from the Harrington Home, Mon. May 12th at 2p.m. Rev. F.E. Somerville officiating.
Mrs. Lyle Tompkins was soloist. Casket bearers were Wm. French, Myron French, Dale French, James Wiltanan, Raymond Garside, and Kenneth Legett. Interment was in the Wyoming Cemetery."
