In 1900 Clay County, Nebraska, John Light is farming, born Feb 1857 in Germany, "Bettie" O. Dec 1870 in Iowa, married eleven years.
Mattie M April 1890, Louis July 1892, and Earnest D. March 1898 were born in Nebraska.
In 1910 Gosper County, Rettie is 39, married twice, born in Iowa, Nettie M. 19, Louis E. 18,a nd Earnest D. 11 were born in Nebraska.
Rettie O. Light proved up a tract in sections 7, 8 and 18, 3 North 42 West in 1916.
1917 "Mrs. Rettie Light of north of Laird sold her 1280 acre farm located ten miles north of Laird the last of the week and will move to Edison, Neb., Where she will reside with her daughter and family. The land sold for $12,800."
J. C. Sterling owned that and much more in 1922."
John Light, 62, born in Germany, is divorced in 1920 Dundy County, Nebraska.
He's living in Haigler in 1930, on King Avenue, divorced.
Rettie is in Belnkelman, Nebraska, in 1930, 59, Divorced.
In 1940 Haigler, Rettie is widowed,
69, with grandson Gene Snyder, 20.
Rettie Olive Coates Light 1870-1942 is buried in Haigler.
So is John Light February 12 1857 - August 22, 1930.
LOUIS
September 1911 "We understand that Lewis Light has bought several head of calves lately."
August 1912 "Lewis Light is assisting John Hultquist in haying this week."
Lewis E. Light proved up a tract in sections 17, 18, 19, and 20 in 1915.
"Claimant names as witnesses: Clarence C. Truxler, Daniel D. Pilkington,
Henry C. Cozad, and Jesse Spellman, all of Laird, Colorado."
July 1915 "Mr. Moddrell, the cattle man, is shipping today a mixed car of hogs and
calves to Denver. The calves were a handsome lot bought of Louis Light and allowed
to run with the mothers since January. They were very handsome."
August 1933 "L. E. Light and John Havlik report seeing a blazing meteor
in the sky one day last week at about 10:00 a m.
The former thought at first sight that the disturbance was caused by a
burning airplane. News dispatches state that this meteor was supposed to
have come in contact with the earth near Torington, Wyo. Mrs. Geo. Carrell,
who is now at Hemingford, sends information in a letter to relatives here
that at that place a tremendous noise accompanied the pryotochnical
display of the falling meteor, which caused a number of teams working in
fields to become frightened and run away. Haigler News. "
Lewis E. Light, a retired Alcoa employee and a Vancouver resident since 1937, died of natural causes Saturday, January 7. He was 91 years old.
Mr. Light was born March 22, 1892, in Edgar, Nebraska. He last resided at 902 S.E. 78th Ave. He had farmed in Dundy County until moving to Vancouver, Washington, in 1937. He lived 10 miles northeast of Haigler.
He was a retired tool maintenance worker at Alcoa in Vancouver. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vancouver, the International
Association of Machinists and participated in local senior citizen activities.
Survivors include two sons, Don of Vancouver and Glenn of Seattle; two grandchildren, Gregory Light of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Cheryle Lee Malkmus of Lacey, Washington; and four great-granddaughters.
The funeral was held on Monday, January 9, at 2 p.m. at the Vancouver Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alan Madson officiating. Burial was in the Park Hill Cemetery.

Ruth Lena Light, 87, a 39-year Vancouver resident, died here Tuesday.
Born Oct. 13, 1888, in Nebraska, she lived at 707 W. 44th St. at the time of her death.
Survivors include her widower, Lewis, at home; two sons, Donald of Vancouver and Glenn of Seattle; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Light was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Association of Retired Persons, Senior Citizens Council and the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church memorial fund.
NETTIE
In 1910 Arapahoe, Furnas County, Nebraska, Nettie is 19, born in Nebraska, a servant for the Roy E. and Dura E. Snyder, both 26. Jack R. is 3, Phyllis M. 1.
She's also in the 1910 Gosper County, Nebraska census, 19, with mother Rettie O. 39, Louis E. 18, and Earnest D. 11.
July 1912 "Mrs. V. A. Scott and Miss Nettie Light wore shopping in Wray
Monday from their farms twelve miles north of Laird.
They tell us a good rain fell in that vicinity Sunday evening and that
the crops look splendid."
December 1912 "Nettie Light of the Laird hotel is spending the
holidays with her mother on the homestead north of town."
April 1913 "On last Friday evening a very pleasant surprise party was
given at the Laird hotel in honor of Miss Nettie Light, who was spending the
week end at the hotel. A large number of guests were present and the
evening was pleasantly spent in games and music and dainty refreshments
were served. It was at a late hour when the guests departed for their homes
and all report a fine time except for an unfortunate occurrence which won
for the participants the disgust and contempt of all others present."
December 1913 "Miss Nettie Light, who had spent the past three weeks in
Wray, returned to her home near Haigler Monday."
February 1914 "Miss Nettie Light, daughter of Mrs. Retta Light of north
of Laird and A. L. Snyder were married at McCook yesterday and went from
there to Holbrook, Nebraska, where they will visit Mr. Snyder's
parents until about the first of March. They will en at home to their friends
on the bride's homestead north of Laird. Miss Light is quite well known in
Wray, having been engaged here as a nurse. The Gazette joins their
many friends in best wishes and congratulations."
Nettie M. (Light) Snyder proved up a tract in section 18 in 1916.
In 1920 Hitchcock County, Nebraska, Alonzo is 36, Nettie 28, Gene and Joyce newborn.
Alonzo and Nettie have the twins in 1930 Hitchcock County.
Alonzo 1883-1966 # 37459751 and Nettie M. 1890-1966 # 37459708 are buried in Holbrook.
Gene, born June 5, 1919 in Holbrook, died February 11, 1995.
He's buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado # 146928153.
Joyce Harriet Snyder was born June 5, 1919 in Holbrook, Nebraska
to Alonzo L. Snyder and Nettie M. Light, name Passmore in 1944, Whipple in 1953,
Robertson in 1961, and Reed in 1975, dying May 26, 2007.
1950 Kirk items in the Wray Gazette "Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Sherrer and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Whipple, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Snyder, enjoyed an evening of entertainment at the Fred McNair home."
1956 Wray "A Snyder family reunion was held at the John Burns home on
Sunday, Nov. 11. Present to share the occasion with Mr. and Mrs. Burns and the
latter's mother, Mrs. Nora Gockley, were Mrs. Ida Cooper of Holbrook, Neb.,
sister of Mrs. Gockley, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Snyder and Mrs. Edith Snyder of McCook,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Snyder of Culbertson, Nebraska., Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Snyder,
Mrs. Joyce Passmore and son Allan and Gene Snyder of Denver. Mrs. Burns is a niece of the Snyder men. "
In 1961 Mr. and Mrs. Al Passmore of Denver were in a wedding in Golden. The groom, Dee Downing, was a grandson of J. E. Downing of Vernon.
August 1962 "Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Whipple are announcing the birth of a daughter, Lenora May. on Saturday. July 28, at the hospital in Burlington. They returned home on Wednesday. "
EARNEST
October 1911 "Earnest Light is taking the
eighth grade work in the Laird school."
April 1912 "Ernest Light, who has been living with Mr. Miller's
family during the winter and attending the eighth grade,
has taken batching quarters."
December 1912 "Earnest Light arrived home last
Sunday from Aurora, Nebraska where he has been shucking corn.
He says corn is much better in Laird vicinity
and prices for shucking higher and that he would have earned
more money nearer home. Well, that's about the experience of
others too. Stick to home employment."
In September 1932 at the wedding of Mary Knox and Harry Gies, guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Light and son Gene, of Haigler.
Marie M. Light, daughter of Katherine and Jacob Walter, was born March 21, 1900 and passed away suddenly at her home, 2212 Wyo. St., Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday, November 14, 1975 of a heart attack.
She was married to Earnest D. Light May 5, 1920. To this union was born one son, Eugene, of La Habra, California.
Survivors include her husband; son, Eugene and wife Martie; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Anna Beck, Ogden, Utah, Mrs. Katie Little, St. Francis, Kansas, Mrs. Helen Cline, Woodburn, Oregon, Mrs. Madeline Evons, Stockton, California; and two brothers, Jake and Roy Walter, of Haigler, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 18, from Evans and Early Mortuary.
All of her sisters and brothers were able to attend the funeral.
