George John Carl, born 1818 in Germany, died August 16, 1904 in Ohio. He married Christine Wetzel 1831-1876.

In 1880 Mohican, Ohio, Caroline Carl is 32, born in Ohio, with Michael H. Shelly, 40. Brady M. is 3, Henry W. 1.
Her son George D. Windesheim is 9.


Michael Shelley and Caroline Carl had Savilla Eva Shelley on Dec 11, 1882 in Mohicanville, Ohio.
Michael 1838-1888 is buried in Wayne County, Ohio # 41063230.

August 1887 Akron "Dr. E. S. Carl has opened dental rooms in the Newsom block."
On September 18, 1890 in Wray, Yuma County, Edward S. Carl of Akron, and Carolina Gute of Wray married. Julius Sampson was one of "By Whom Certified"
Carolina (Gute) Carl cash-claimed a quarter in 7, 1N 43W in 1890, and proved up a quarter in section 6, 1N 44W in 1893.
These were within a mile of Wray.

September 1898 "The Beaver House at Akron is now open in full. Meals, lunches and lodging for everybody
J.F. Sampson, Proprietor."
Julius must have sold the hotel to his brother-in-law

March 1899


January 3, 1908 "Mr. and Mrs. Julius Sampson and children of Berthoud took their annual New Year's dinner with the family of E. S. Carl. Mrs. Sampson and Mrs. Carl are sisters."
" Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Carl of Longmont, who visited Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Sampson and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Sampson for a few days, went to Berthoud Wednesday to visit relatives."


July 1898 "Dr. E. S. Carl and niece, Miss Savilla, of Akron, were Wray visitors Wednesday."

May 1899 "The old Beaver House at Akron has recently been refitted and renovated, until old-timers would hardly recognize the place. Landlord Carl, who recently took charge of it, is a thorough hotel man, and his list of friends all along the line are profuse in their praise of the tables and general comforts under the new management. Yuma county people will find it the proper place to patronize."

June 2, 1899 Akron "E. S. Carl has been in Denver for several days making an effort to collect the board bill contracted by Opperman while here. Upon leaving here Opperman gave a check on a London bank and in due course of time, it came back endorsed 'no funds'
It was this endorsement that caused Mr. Carl to go post haste to Denver."

August 1899

In 1900 Akron, Colorado, E.S. Carl is farming, born Jan 1861 in Ohio, married nine years to Caroline May 1863 Switzerland, immigrating in 1878. Nephew Earnest Shelley Sept 1885 in Ohio is with them.

June 1900 "Mr. and. Mrs. E. S. Carl have just received a letter from Gus Monard and Louie Descondres, of Ponts Martel, Switzerland. Gus is working in his father's sawmill and Louie is clerking in his brother's dry goods store - Akron Lender ."

July 1900

E.S., a laborer, and Caroline, a cook, are in a sawmill camp in Collbran, Mesa County, Colorado in 1910.

April 1911 "G. M. Hague, formerly of Ohio and now living in South Dakota, is here for a few days visiting E. S. Carl of the Sunnyside."

July 1912 "W. H. Carl and Otto Troutman, of Shreve, Ohio, were guests of E. S. Carl on the Sunnyside a few days this week."

In 1930 Longmont, Edwin W. Wallace is an electrical engineer, 34, born in Pennsylvania, with Savilla 32 in Ohio. He was married six years. Donald E. is 6, born in Colorado. Edward S. Carl, 69, her uncle is living with them, born in Ohio.
This is not the same Savilla that was married in Akron.


Edward S. Carl 1861-1935 is buried in Longmont # 17938399 , with Caroline 1863-1928 # 17938393.


Edwin Wallace 44, and Savilla 41 and Donald 16 are in 1940 Longmont.

Edwin 1896-1988 # 54342390 and Savilla D. Wallace 1898-1990 # 54342416 are buried in Longmont.

George and Savilla Roark are in Adams County, Colorado in 1920.
Still there in 1930, with Bernice 14, Lillian 12, and Mary P. Roark 10.
In 1940 Savilla is in Denver, divorced, 57, with Mary P. 20, born in Colorado. Lillian is 22, married to Sam J. Irvine, both 2.

Savilla E. Roark 1882-1965 is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Cook County, Illinois # 166401456.

George F. Roark, 24, married Ella Lenora Proctor Feb 10, 1930 in Aurora, recorded in El Paso COunty.

Lillian Mae Roark was born December 17, 1917 at Hudson Colorado to George P. Roark and Savilla E. Shelly, diyin June 6, 2006 as Irvine.
She's buried in Fort Logan # 36074788.

Mary Roark Bruner, born Sept 16, 1919 in Colorado, died Feb 18, 1986 in Reno, Nevada.

Donald Edwin Wallace, born in Denver Feb 22, 1924, died August 18, 2000.

Bernice Roark is in Los Angeles in 1940, in a big lodging house, a stenographer, , 25.

Ruby is in Denver in 1940, 29, married to Roy Griffith,k 33.
