E. M. SNODGRASS, M. D., physician and surgeon, was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, in 1855. At the age of eighteen, he commenced the study of medicine at What Cheer, remaining there two years, then went to Page County, and went into an office with an uncle, remaining one year; from there he went to the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Keokuk, graduating in the spring of 1877, and began the practice of medicine, remaining in Iowa one year. In 1878, located at Superior, Nuckolls County, and has remained here since. In 1880, he bought a half interest in the drug store now owned by Mr. KESTERSON, remaining in this business fourteen months, but owing to his practice taking all of his time, was obliged to give up the drug business. In 1878, he was married, at Redding Iowa, to Miss Henrietta WYATT, of that place. They have one daughter - Lizzie May. Is a member of Kansas State Medical Society.

1893 Oklahoma Times Journal. "A suit for divorce has been brought in the Probate court by Mrs. Mary A. Snodgrass against E.M. Snodgrass. She alleges extreme cruelty, drunkenness and gambling." Mary might be the Mary A. McClanahan born Oct 1858 in Iowa, married three years to Joseph McClanahan, July 1854 Kentucky. Gladys B. VanGundy born May 1888 in Colorado her daughter. Mary's had five kids, three living. Gladys Vangundy married Luther Oldham March 7, 1909 in Garfield County, Oklahoma.

Ellen S. Krieger, 97, passed away on December 17, 2013. Preceded in death by, husband, Ben Krieger: 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and son-in-law, Walter Camack. Ellen is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Charles) Freeman, Bonnie Camack; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Ellen was a superb bridge player and bowler. She was passionate about teaching her loved ones cards and games. She enjoyed the Broncos and the Rockies. Ellen was a resident at Wynwood of Pueblo for 16 years. Donation may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice through the funeral home. Wilbur's brother Arnold Eugene Lyon was killed at Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941 on the USS West Virginia.

Lyon and his wife, Mrs. Vera Lyon, left Saturday for San Pedro, Calif., where he will report to the naval base, after spending a few days in Greeley with his sister, Mrs. Louise Mitchell, 1412 Seventh avenue. Chief Lyon has been in the navy several years, and recently completed a special training school course at Washington, D. C. The Lyons also visited in Holyoke with his brother, Wilbur Lyon. Chief Lyon is a former Greeley resident. " |

| 1950 Three men were arrested at Hudson, a southeastern Weld county town, late Friday evening, after a thrilling cross country hunt from Milliken to Hudson in which four Weld county sheriff's cars and as many patrol cars took part. The three men, brought to the Weld county Jail, were John J. Harper, 30, who gave his address as Fort Worth, Tex., but who came here recently from Wisconsin; Manford Snodgrass, 36, of Golden, a former resident of California; and Carl Snodgrass, 45, of Denver. All are former residents of the Greeley district. Sheriff George Hill said charges of larceny would be filed against them for stealing a radio, clock, cigarette lighters, pen and pencil sets and several cartons of cigarettes from the Milliken cafe, operated by Jack Haupt. Hill said the personal belongings of the cafe and the merchandise were carried out after the group had ordered their meals. Snodgrass engaged the operator in a discussion about a linoleum job while the other two removed the articles, Hill said. Three boys, Joe Salzar, Joe Lopez and Manuel Serano, saw the articles being removed and got the license number of the car, which was driven Carl Snodgrass, who was fined Saturday morning in Judge X F. Matheson's Justice of peace court for speeding and reckless driving. At 8.16 p. m. Sheriff George Hill put out a radio pickup request for he men, who were driving a.1940 De Soto sedan. Officers said Mrs. Carl Snodgrass and a baby were in the car. They were taken to the home of friends after the arrests. Officers said the Snodgrass men are not brothers. The wanted car was first spotted by State Patrolman Loyal Warner, who met the car north if ' Platteville. Warner turned and gave chase southward giving his location by radio. The De Sola took the old 85 highway route at Platteville but came back on U. S. 85 south of Fort Vasquez. The DeSoto was running 80 miles and without lights, radio reports stated. The DeSoto turned east at Ion* ped across to State 37, the Hudson, Keenesburg cutoff, went on south to U. S. Six and thence east into Hudson. Meanwhile Patrol Sgt. M. B. Mc Kinney had joined the chase from Fort Lupton and Patrolmen Howard Eddy and Eddie Zigut from Fort Morgan had come in from the east. A truck was used to establish a road block at Hudson. All sheriffs cars and deputies were in chase under Sheriff George Hill. The Snodgrass-Harper party, surrounded at Hudson, surrendered without a shot being fired. Carl Snodgrass was taken to Milliken by the sheriff for identification purposes, the woman and baby were taken to a private home and Manford Snodgrass and Harer were booked for identification at the Weld County jail here. |

| William "Bill" Page Snodgrass was born April 16, 1920 in Eckley to
Pearl W. Snodgrass and Georgia M. Miller. He died at the age of 92 on
Jan. 2, 2013 at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke. Bill graduated from high school with the Class of 1938 in Greeley. One of his highlights during his senior year was being the state wrestling champion in 1938 in the 145-pound weight division. Bill served in the Civilian Conservation Corporation in Estes Park in park maintenance. He enlisted in the Navy as a seaman on Dec. 16, 1941. He became a gunner's mate first class aboard the USS Saratoga in World War II. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 23, 1945. He married Floy Lee Hagar on Sept. 2, 1960 at the First Congregational Church in Pueblo. Floy died July 14, 2011. Bill was a truck driver working in several different capacities. He began his career with the Teamster Union, then to Weicker Traffic–Centennial Truck, transferred from local 1 & 6 to 961, moving to Red Ball, transferred to local 577 and later transferred with Red Ball to Amarillo, Texas where they resided until after his retirement and later moved to Holyoke in 2007. Bill loved to play golf and go pheasant hunting and line dancing; he was the line dancing instructor when the dance instructor was gone. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Floy Snodgrass; two brothers; and three sisters, including Peggy Meusborn. Bill is survived by his daughter, Billie Sue Snodgrass and grandson Shawn; nieces, Janeen Burchett, Penny Dockins, Sherry Simms, Bonnie Camack, Dani Regains and Jackie Freeman; nephews, Gary Snodgrass, Mark Meusborn, Mike Meusborn and Matt Meusborn; one sister, Ellen Krieger; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Jan. 4 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke with Matt Meusborn officiating. The interment was held on Jan. 5, at Mountain View Cemetery in Pueblo. Memorial contributions will go to the veteran memorial in Pueblo. |
