In 1880 Randolph County, Illinois, Robert Rockwell is 37, Ozella 29, Laura B. 8, Samuel C. 5, Robert J. 3, and Ida M. 1 - all born in Illinois.

In 1888 Robert Rockwell, born in Chester Illinois, is in the GAR registry for Kansas, a private in  D. 80th  Illinois from April 1862 for 34 months.

In 1895 Greeley County, Kansas, R. Rockwell is 53, O. 44, Robert J. 19, Idey 15, Albert 13, and "Rai" "5.

Laura B. Taylor -1875-1897 is buried in Tribune, Kansas # 40292015 - with Jasper T. Taylor dying 1898, age 32.

In 1900 Greeley County, Kansas, Robert Rockwell is 58, Ozelia 49, Samuel 25 married to  Eva R. 19, Ida M. 21, Albert A. 18, Roy G. (Feb 1889) , and grandson Perry R. Taylor 7.

In 1905 Kansas Robt. Rockwell is 63, R. 54, Roy G. 15, and Perry R. Taylor 12.

Robert 1842-1919 is buried in Eckley "Co D 80th Illinois"  # 53151286

Ozella is widowed, 69, born in Illinois, in 1920 Eckley, living alone.

Ozella Rockwell -1852-1925 is buried in Eckley # 53151285.

PERRY

Perry R. Taylor was listed on the "second call" in 1917 with a Happyville address - born January 27, 1893 in Richards, Missouri.

Perry proved up 320 acres in 27, 33, and 34, 1S 46W in 1920 - that abuts Roy G. Rockwell's claim.

In 1920 Yuma County Perry R. is 27, born in Missouri, with Mattie 24, Kansas, and Clifton P. 4, born in Colorado. 

In 1930 Eckley they're running the phone company, with Clifton a messenger boy.

In 1940 township 1S 46W, Perry and Mattie are farming, with Clifton on the same page, married to Norma 22, born in Colorado, and son Stephen 1.

Also on the page are Harry and Leah Tuell, with Yvonne 2 and Joyce 1.

Perry Rockwell Taylor, per 21013246, born January 21, 1893 died July 27, 1984 and is buried in Presho, Lyman County, South Dakota.  So is Mattie Taylor 1895-1982. # 21012630.

November 6, 1999:  Norma Stevens was the third of 4 children born to E.W. and Josephine Shepherd Stevens on Nov. 9, 1917 at Vernon, Colorado. She attended grade school at Timnath, Colorado and graduated high school at Eckley, Colorado. She then attended Colorado State University at Fort Collin, Colorado.

On March 26, 1937, Norma was married to Clifton Perry Taylor at Eckley, Colorado. To this union 3 children were born, Steve, Kent and Debi. The family ranched and farmed in Colorado until their move to SD, in Aug of 1954. They settled on a farm south of Presho, the buying and moving to a ranch north of town. Shortly after Clif's death in 1974, Norma moved into Presho where she made her home. She continued her interest in the ranch and in helping her family when and wherever she was needed. Norma was the founder of Paint 'N Sketch Art Club of Presho and instrumental in the establishment of the present Presho Library where she served on the board for 25 years. She was baptized and a member of the United Methodist Church of Presho and served in various office there throughout her life. Her hobbies were reading and traveling throughout the world. Her main interest was always her family, who all loved her very much.

Norma is survived by her children Steve, Kent and Debi, 7 grandchildren, 2 brothers Jim and Joe as well as nieces and one nephew and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, one brother, 2 sisters and her husband. 

Era Wilburn Stevens registered in Yuma County, born August 25, 1885, married to Josephine Ina Stevens.

Josephine Ina Stevens 1882-1925 is buried in Fort Collins.  # 94863841.

In 1930 Timnath, Colorado, Era W. is 44, Edna 26, with Mildred 18, Olin 16, Norma 12, Nadine 10 - then Oliver J. - probably Edna's son,  six months old.  Edna's mother Mable Horner 54 is with them.

Era Wilburn J. Stevens 1885-1966  # 94863783 and Edna L. 1903-1981 are buried in Fort Collins.
 

Clifton Perry Taylor -1915-1974 and Norma (Stevens) Taylor 1917-1999 are also buried in Presho.

EDNA TUELL

John Tuell, born April 1867 in Indiana and Annie born Sept 1876 in Kansas, married eight years, are in Bourbon County Kansas in 1900, with Edna born Nov 1892, Annie Nov 1895, and Annie's brother Abe Banks June 1878 Kansas.

In 1910 Greeley County, Kansas, John is 43, Annie E. 35, Mattie 14, Ethel 7, Harry J. 5, William W. and Wilma three months.

On the same page are Walter J. Banks, 40, born in Kansas. and Stella E. Banks, 34,  Indiana, with Jesse W . 15, Bessie 12, Benjamin B. 10, Lelah 7, Susie A. 5, Myrtle A. 2, and William F. eleven months.  Stella's father Jessie L. 71, widowed, born in Indiana, is also with them. (Jesse T. Tuell 1837-1919 is buried in Tribune 40183695. Walter J. Banks 1869-1935 and Stella 1876-1923 are buried in Butler County, Kansas # 31072423 and # 31072449. )

In 1915 Greeley County, Kansas, John is 47, Anna 40, with Ethel 12, Harry 9, William and "Nilma" 5, and Agnes 3.

 

John and Anna are in Happyville precinct in 1920, with Ethel, Harry, Wilma and William, Agnes A. 7, and Johnny M. 4.

ROY

In 1910 Greeley County, Kansas, Roy is a railroad clerk, 20 and Zelma L. 18 are married, both born in Kansas, living with his brother Samuel  35 born in Illinois, second marriage of a year to Mable S. 19, born in Texas.

Roy registered with a Happyville address, born February 20, 1890 at Horace, Kansas.  (When he registered for WWII in Martinez, California, he said he was born in Towner, Colorado)  Relative was Zelma A. Rockwell of the same address.

Roy proved up  two quarters in 21, 22, and 27, 1S 46W in 1919.

In 1920 Newton Kansas, Roy has no occupation, 29, Zelma 27, Pauline 4, Virginia Lee 1.

In 1930 Grand Island, Nebraska, Roy is a car salesman, 40, Zelma 38, Virginia 12, Keith 10 - both born in Kansas, and Betty J. 8 born in Nebraska.

Roy, a car salesman,  and Zelma are in San Francisco in 1940, with Keith 22, Betty J. 18, and Jerry A. 7 daughter born in Nebraska.

Roy Greeley Rockwell died April 29, 1953 in Alameda County, mother's name Clure.  Zelma died May 4, 1975 in Santa Clara County.

 

ROBERT

In 1910 Greeley County Robert is a locomotive engineer, 34, born in Illinois, married (second one) to Edna 18, Kansas.

The East Yuma history says "R.J. (Bob) and Edna (Tuell) Rockwell came to their homestead six miles south of Eckley .. by team and wagon from their home at Tribune, Kansas, about 1915 with their two small sons, Clem and Clayton.  R.J. had previously been an engineer on the Rock Island railroad.  Their third son Glenn was born here and later they moved to a farm four miles south which ha previously been occupied by Edna's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tuell and family.  Here two more sons were born, Johnny and Dallas (Doc) and one daughter, Anna Mae.  Clem married Maxine Whittenburg and moved to Fort Morgan.  Clayton married Eileen Sebold and moved to Golden.  Glenn married Vera Blacker and lived west of Wray.  Johnny married Betty Johnson and moved to Omaha, Nebraska.  Dallas married Lucile Jackson and moved to Denver.  Anna Mae married Melvin Stults and lived west of Vernon."

Robert proved up two quarters in 34, 1N 46W in 1917.

In 1920 Happyville precinct, Robert J. is 43, Edna 27, Clam 9, Clayton7, and Samuel 2.

In 1930 they've added Dallas D., 6.

In 1940 they have Johnnie 19, Dallas 16, and Anna 6.

 

ALBERT

In 1880 Henderson County, Illinois, Henry Weaver is 30, Lavina 24, with Gertrude 3, and Anna 1.

In 1895 Greeley County, Kansas, Winona Hazel Weaver is 9, with parents Henry 45 and Lovina Jane 38 Weaver.  Gertie Ellen is 17, Annie Viola 15, and Theresa I. 3.

Gertrude might have married a Judie, and in 1900 Kansas City, Kansas she's a "boarder" with Chris 59 and Jane  51 Weaver.  Gertie has Eddie 1895 and Gordon 189 and Freddie February 1900.

1891 "Greeley County Republican. Henry Weaver, who doesn't pose as a Farmers' alliance man, is a farmer just the same. Mr. Weaver has a herd of cattle which is in excellent condition. He will put out a crop of small grain and grasses this spring, and may irrigate a portion of his place. Henry is one of our farmers who has not lost all faith in Greeley, and believes if we can secure a few more men who will till the ground as it should be, that with the aid of the city council, we may be able to make a showing at the world's fair in '93."

In 1900 Henry "Wivr" born Oct 1849 in Illinois, married 23 years to Lavina Aug 1856 Iowa, have Winona H. May 1885 Illinois, and Theresa J. Oct 1891 Kansas.  The next household is Robert Rockwell, March 1876 Illinois, married two years to Emma May 1878 Missouri, and they have Laura L. Feb 1898.

February 10, 1916 "The home of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Rockwell was made to rejoice last Thursday by the arrival of a fine new boy.  All parties are reported to be doing well and Al wears a smile that won't come off."

December 1916 "Mr. Henry Wener, of Horace, Kansas, is visiting with his daughter, Mrs. Albert Rockwell."

1916 "Robert, Albert, and Roy Rockwell with their sister, Mrs. E.W. Harris, made a flying trip to Tribune, Kansas ....illness of their mother,  Mrs. Robert Rockwell, of that place."

Albert Abraham Rockwell registered with an Eckley address, married to Winona H. Rockwell, born January 9, 1882.

1919 "William Carter went Friday to Albert Rockwell's near Happyville, for seed corn."

In 1920 Happyville precinct, Albert 38 and Winona 34, both born in Illinois, have Albert L. 5 born in Utah, Rex 3, Theresa 2 and Wilda L. nine months, both born in Colorado.

In 1930 Albert is working for the city of Wray, and they have Lyle 16, Rex 14, T. Nadine 12, Wilda L. 11, Garnet L. 9, Don O. 7, Shirley R. 6, Perry D. 4, and Lorina J. 1.

In 1940 Albert is running the city power plant, and they have Rex R. a grocery store salesman, Nadine, Wilda, Garnet, Don, Shirley, Perry, and Lavina.

Albert, born Jan 9, 1882 in Illinois, died in Los Angeles County October 28, 1944

Albert and Winona are buried in Wray.

May 1919 "George E. Rice and Miss Winona Rockwell of Eckley were married last week."

George Jethro "Jeff" Rice, 97, of Sterling died Sunday, Dec. 16, 1996 in Sterling.
A graveside service will be held at the Eckley Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday; a memorial service will be held later.
Mr. Rice was born Nov. 4, 1899, in Superior, Neb. He was the son of George Edward and Esther May (Bowers) Rice. He grew up and attended rural schools in Yuma County, Co.
He married Winona Rockwell April 6, 1919, The marriage ended several years later.

IDA

Ida M. Rockwell married Ed. W. Harris October 17, 1900, recorded in Pueblo County (Ed was living there in the 1900 census)

In 1910  Wray Edward W. Harris is a real estate broker  38, born in Arkansas married ten years to Ida M. 30, born in Illinois,   Niece Winona Rockwell 9 and nephew Clarence E. Rockwell 7, both born in Kansas, are with them, and they have six boarders.

Edward is a real estate agent in 1920 Eckley, with Ida M. a saleslady in a grocery store, and nephew Clarence is with them.  Clarence might be the one in  1940 Grand Island, Nebraska, married to Minnie born about 1902 in Nebraska.  They have Ina C. 14, Randall D. 13, Barry 4, and Ronald R. 2, all born in Nebraska.   One tree said she was Minnie Emerentia Seeber.

Edward W. Harris 1871-1920 is buried in Eckley # 53005865

One tree said Ethel D. Tuell  married Vern J. Ballard.  Vern Ballard, age 27, married Ethel "Quell", 18, in Yuma  June 26, 1921.

  In 1930 Eckley, Vern is a mail carrier, and they have Harold D. 7. 

1938 Clark Colorado (Routt County) 

In 1940 he's a mail carrier in Eckley precinct, 46, born in Illinois, with Ethel 37, Herald A. 17, Betty J. 6 .

Ethel Dorothy Ballard 1902-1966 is buried in Eckley, # 52879513.  So is Vern James Ballard 1894-1970 # 47656950 "Pvt Co K. 352nd Infantry, WW I.
