Philip and Julia Hofeld,  daughter Florence (Hofeld) Halstead, son Herbert L. Hofeld,  Happyville

In 1880 Sumner, Kansas, Philip Hofeld is 39, born in Prussia,  Julia 34, New York,  with Florence 11 Iowa,  and Kittie E. 6 Michigan

In 1885 Sumner, Kansas, Philip is 45, Florence 16, Kittie 10, Lansing 4.

In 1902 Philip Hofeld of Chandler is the chairman of the People's Party Central Committee.

1904 "By a rock foiling Into a box of dynamite, which exploded, at Chandler Ok Mrs. Philip Hofeld was fatally Injured "

Philip 70 and Julia 64 are in Vernon precinct, Yuma County in 1910.  She's had four kids, three living.

Next household is Edgar Halstead 52, born in Ohio, with Florence M. 41 Iowa, married fifteen years, with Marian 24, Illinois.  So it must be a second marriage for Edgar.  Edgar proved up two quarters joining Philip in 1916.

In 1930 William, Florence and his mother Florence are in Yuma County.

In 1940 Happyville precinct, William Halstead is 40, Florence A. 39 - a school teacher.  Florence M. 71, mother, is living with them.

Herbert L. Hofeld married Edna Funk August 10, 1910 recorded in Yuma County.

1911 "Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Halstead, of near Vernon, were the guests of their daughter, Mrs. John Steffens, Wednesday and Thursday."  This is Marion (Halstead) Steffens, 1884-1967, buried in Colton, California. # 22841195.

Marcia Di Carlo Szecsy went to be with her Lord on August 8, 2009. Marcia was born to John and Marion Halstead Steffens in Wellington, Kansas on November 27, 1917. The family moved to California when Marcia was quite young and she attended and graduated from San Bernardino High School.

January 23, 1913 "Dr. Worth reports the arrival of a baby boy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hofeld's Sunday."

That would, per one tree, be Julia Elizabeth Hofeld, born June 3, 1911 in Vernon, dying August 15, 1915 in Chandler, Oklahoma.

Herbert proved up a two quarters in 11, 1S 46W in 1916, and Philip proved up the other two in 1927.

Herbert's witnesses were Edward W. Harris and Clifford Wittenburg of Eckley and Fred Barker and Philip Hofeld of Vernon.

But Philip had filed in 1909 for those two quarters, witnesses George W. Allison, Fred Barker, Herman L. Hofeld, and Frank Wakefield, all of Vernon.

One tree said that Edna Cynthia Funk married Herbert Lee Hofeld in August 1910, then Roy Francis Lamb Nov 9, 1926.

In 1930 Harney County, Oregon, Edna M. Lamb is 43, born in Oklahoma, with Roy F. 3, Billie J. 1, and Edith Hofeld 14.

In 1920 Chandler Oklahoma, Julia E. Hofeld, 72 is living with Edgar 65 and Florence 50 Halstead, William 20, Gladys 16, and Josephine 14.

In 1920 Chandler, Oklahoma, Lee Hofeld is 32, Anna 28, with her daughters Dottie 10 and Rena 8.

In 1930 Chandler, Oklahoma, Herbert Hofeld is 42, born in Kansas, married to Annie 39, Kentucky.  They have Dottie 20, Laura 18, Philip L. 10, Alfred 5, all four born in Oklahoma.

Anna 1891-1984 and Herbert 1888-1964 are buried in Chandler # 45857695. So is his father Philip

Florence M.  1868-1949  # 53005861 and Edgar G. Halstead 1853-1929 are buried in Eckley.

So are William H 1899-1984 and Florence A. 1899-1984, and Irving O. Halstead 1927-1927.

Josephine Gusta Tucker, born Aug 5, 1905 in Oklahoma, died April 11, 1987 in San Bernardino County, father Halstead, mother Hofeld.

PHILIP HOFELD was born December 1, 1839 in Nausau, Germany.

He came to America when he was 18 years of age, making Michigan his home state.

There he married Juliett Lansing at the age of 26. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls, three of which are left to mourn his death. The other boy, Lansing, died 17 years ago.

When the Civil War broke out he enlisted as a Private in Company K, 7th Michigan Infantry. He received an honorable discharge July 5, 1865.

He was a Veterinarian and while he was discharging his duties as such, he was kicked by a horse in the face and from the effects of this a cancer started. This causing his death. He died at his home in Chandler, January 6, 1919, age 79 years, one month and five days.

His wife, two daughters and one son are left to mourn his death.

The funeral services were held at the house, Rev. C. A. Morrison, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was made at Oak Park Cemetery.
