1911 "Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Halstead, of near Vernon, were the guests of their daughter, Mrs. John Steffens, Wednesday and Thursday." This is Marion (Halstead) Steffens, 1884-1967, buried in Colton, California. # 22841195.
Marcia Di Carlo Szecsy went to be with her Lord on August 8, 2009. Marcia was born to John and Marion Halstead Steffens in Wellington, Kansas on November 27, 1917. The family moved to California when Marcia was quite young and she attended and graduated from San Bernardino High School. |

Herbert proved up a two quarters in 11, 1S 46W in 1916, and Philip proved up the other two in 1927.
Herbert's witnesses were Edward W. Harris and Clifford Wittenburg of Eckley and Fred Barker and Philip Hofeld of Vernon.
But Philip had filed in 1909 for those two quarters, witnesses George W. Allison, Fred Barker, Herman L. Hofeld, and Frank Wakefield, all of Vernon.
One tree said that Edna Cynthia Funk married Herbert Lee Hofeld in August 1910, then Roy Francis Lamb Nov 9, 1926.

Josephine Gusta Tucker, born Aug 5, 1905 in Oklahoma, died April 11, 1987 in San Bernardino County, father Halstead, mother Hofeld.
PHILIP HOFELD was born December 1, 1839 in Nausau, Germany. He came to America when he was 18 years of age, making Michigan his home state. There he married Juliett Lansing at the age of 26. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls, three of which are left to mourn his death. The other boy, Lansing, died 17 years ago. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted as a Private in Company K, 7th Michigan Infantry. He received an honorable discharge July 5, 1865. He was a Veterinarian and while he was discharging his duties as such, he was kicked by a horse in the face and from the effects of this a cancer started. This causing his death. He died at his home in Chandler, January 6, 1919, age 79 years, one month and five days. His wife, two daughters and one son are left to mourn his death. The funeral services were held at the house, Rev. C. A. Morrison, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was made at Oak Park Cemetery. (Published in The Chandler News-Publicist, January 10, 1919.) Julia 1846-1927 is also buried in Chandler. |
