Ivan G.  and Dollie A. (Brown) Dickenson, William A. and Frances A. Brown, Happyville

Ivan, born Aug 30, 1881 at Delphos, Iowa,  was christened in Ringgold County, Iowa, son of Charles Theodore Dickenson and Lydia Derby Dickenson.

In 1900 Red Cloud, Nebraska, Ivan, born August 1881 in Iowa, is with Charles T. and Lydia F. Dickenson, both 42,  Chas V. is 15, Minnie O. 13, Bessie T. 11, Walter C. 9, and Theo two months.

1903 Red Cloud "Ivan Dickenson has left the employ of the B & M at McCook and returned to Red Cloud."

1905 Red Cloud "Ivan Dickenson will farm the Jim Ryan place this summer.  His sister, Miss Minnie Dickenson , will keep house for him."

Ivan G. Dickenson married Dollie Alexia Brown, born about 1883 in Nuckolls County, October 29, 1907 in Red Cloud.

In 1910 Yuma County, Ivan is 28, born in Iowa, married three years to Dollie A. 26, born in Nebraska.

1910 Happyville "Little Walter Brown is rather sick at this writing."

1911 Happyville "Ivan Dickenson was a caller at Wray Thursday."

1911 "We are pleased to learn that Baby Dickenson is very much better this week.  Mr. Dickenson is thinking of moving to Wray where they weill be near the doctor."

"Mrs. Ivan Dickenson has been having an attact (sic) of neuralgia the past week."

1911 "Mrs. Ivan Dickenson returned home from a visit with relatives in Inavale and Red Cloud, Nebraska."

1911 "Mrs. Hattie Jackson, who has been visiting relatives here for some time, left for her home in Lawrence, Nebr., Sunday, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Ivan Dickenson."

1912 "Iva (sic) Dickenson will hold his sale the 23rd of this month.  He intends to leave for his new home in Nebr. about the 1st of February.  We wish him all good luck in his new home."

1912 "Ivan Dickison loaded a car last Thursday with household effects and horses ect. (sic) and shipped to Cowels, Nebraska where he has purchased a blacksmith shop and where he will make his future home.   He has rented his 160 acre farm.  Our loss is their gain."

February 1916 Red Cloud "Ivan Dickenson returned Sunday from Wray, Colorado, where he was looking after his farm."

1916 Red Cloud "Mrs. Ivan Dickenson left Monday for Denver, where she was called by the serious illness of her father."

1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Brown and family returned to their home at Atwood, Kansas this morning after spending several days at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ivan Dickenson."  So Dollie was a Brown....

 

August 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Dickenson left Friday for Happyville, Colorado, where they will make their home on a farm."

Ivan cash-claimed a quarter  in 21, 1S 46W in 1917.

Ivan Garnet Dickenson registered with an Eckley address, born August 30, 1881, wife Dolly A. Dickenson.

1919 "Ivan Dickenson of Akron, Colorado is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dickenson."

1922 Ivan G. Dickenson received $20 for his service on election board.

Dollie A. Dickenson 1883-1927 is buried in Liberty Creek Cemetery, Nuckolls County, Nebraska.  # 35468616

In 1930 Ivan G. widowed, is with parents Charles and Lyda in Nuckolls County, Nebraska.  Ivan M. 19, born in Colorado, is married but no spouse, born in Colorado.  Dixie E. Roberson, grandson 18, born in Nebraska, and Ivan  M. are both farm laborers.

In 1940 Nuckolls County, Ivan G. is a foreman at an athletic park, 58, married to Ruth, 43, born in Nebraska.  Gordon Parkinson 18 son Lois 17, Donald 14, Jean 13, Dee Dickson 7, and Ronald Dickson  eight months are with them.

In 1940 Ivan M. a radio repairman, 29 and Emily May, born in Nebraska, 28 are in Bingham County, Idaho, with Josephine J. 11, born in Nebraska.

In 1952 Hastings, Nebraska, Ivan G. is a plant operator at the state hospital.  He and Ruth have Wesley D. a student.  Ronald Dickerson (LaVerna) is a driver for Interstate Freight Lines.

Ivan Morrow Dickenson 1910-1975 married Emily May Rowley Aug 10, 1927.  Emily was born Aug 18, 1911, dying April 22, 1993.  They share a  tombstone in Aberdeen, Bingham County, Idaho. # 55875526.

WILLIAM BROWN

In 1870 Clinton County, Iowa, William A. "Braun" is 38, a plasterer, born in Ohio, with Francis A. 20 New York, William 4, and Hettie 1, both Iowa.

 In 1880 Nuckolls County, Nebraska, William A. Brown is a brick mason,  49 Ohio, Francis A. 29, Pennsylvania, Hettie H. 10, Don C. 7, and Clayton P. 2, all three born in Iowa.   This Don C. is the Donald Clyde Brown of Brownsville.

In 1900 Clay County, Nebraska, William Brown is 69, Frances 49, Clayton 22, Laura 19, and Dollie born September 1883. Grandson Walter is 6, born in Missouri, both parents born in Iowa.

William A. Brown 79 Ohio and Frances A. 59 Pennsylvania,  married 44 years, are also in Yuma County in 1910, farming.  Walter A., grandson, is 14. 

Walter registered in Yuma County, born June 21, 1894 in Jerrico, Missouri, single, employed by D.C. Brown of Happyville.  Probably Donald C. Brown, claiming land in 2S 47W.

 Frances is widowed in 1920 De Kalb County, Missouri, living with daughter Laura Miller and her husband Edson J.  She's also with them in 1930 Andrew County, Missouri.

William A. Brown is buried in Liberty Creek, Nuckolls County - so is Frances A. 1851-1938 # 35468573

W.A. Brown died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Jackson at Deweese, Thursday night, March 16, 1916, age 86 years. Mr. Brown was well known some years back in this vicinity, residing in Lawrence. The deceased was quite an expert with the pen and for a time followed the work of professional card writing such as family records, etc. He was an old soldier in the cause of the union. For one of this age he was unusually active and strong. There survive the widow, two sons and three daughters. Burial services were held Sunday morning last. Interment was made in Liberty Creek Cemetery.

William Brown enlisted as a Private at Fairfield, Iowa, on 26 Aug 1861 at the age of 31. He mustered in Co F 3rd Iowa Cavalry on 30 Aug 1861. William deserted on 10 Dec 1861 and at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, re-enlisted in Co L 4th Iowa Cavalry on 25 Feb 1862 at the age of 32. He mustered in on the same day. William was discharged on 7 Mar 1865 at Gravelly Springs, Alabama, when his term of enlistment expired.

In 1910 Atwood, Kansas, Clayton Brown, 32, is a boarder in the Samuel and Eliza Gish household, and they have a daughter Ethel, 17.

In 1920 Atwood, Clayton is 40, Ethel 27, Clate 8, and Helen 6.

In 1930 Greeley, Colorado, Clayton is 52, Ethel 38, Clayton 18, Helen 16, Clinton, and Carlyle 6.

Clayton S. Brown 1911-1945 is buried in Eaton # 58633883 "Mary J. Price"

Clayton Brown is a plasterer in Greeley, Colorado in 1940, 62 born in Iowa, with Ethel 47 Kansas.  Helen 26, Clinton 20, and Lyle 16 were all born in Kansas.

 Clayton P. Brown   # 58633882 has buried in Eaton Colorado - age 78 dying 1955 with Rosa Ethel dying 1975 at age 83 # 58633918.

Lincoln Carlyle "Lyle" Brown
Resident of Rossmoor, Walnut Creek
February 12, 1924 - May 17, 2012

Lyle passed away peacefully at his home on May 17th of natural causes.

Lyle was born in Atwood, KS to Clayton and Ethel Brown. He spent his youth growing up in Greeley, CO.

He joined and proudly served in the US Marine Air Corps during World War II. After the war, Lyle went back to Colorado and started in the automobile sales business. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the mid 1950's and continued to work in automobile sales and management. In the mid 1970's Lyle changed careers and became a top regional sales representative for several years for Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company. He retired and took up residence in Rossmoor in 1989.

Lyle loved sports. He was a skilled fast-pitch softball pitcher in his early years, and he became an excellent and avid golfer even before retirement and moving to Rossmoor. His favorite professional teams were the SF Giants, Oakland A's and the SF 49ers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean; his son David Schindler (Diane) of Fremont; his daughter, Janet Dean (Gordon) of Discovery Bay and grandchildren, Trevor and Kyle Smith and Kevin Schindler. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kay and son, Ron.

Lyle was skilled at meeting and making friends. He and Jean travelled extensively. They took 18 cruises and travelled to Europe, Australia and all over the United States. Most years, during the spring you would find them in Arizona following both the Giants and the A's training for the upcoming season.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a military burial service at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon on Sunday, May 27 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Hillside Covenant Church in Walnut Creek on Saturday, June 16 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Feed My Sheep (Food Bank) at Hillside Covenant Church, 2060 Magnolia Way, Walnut Creek, CA 94595 or Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.
