In 1850 Andrew County, Missouri, Thomas Vaughn is 42, Hannah 31, George 10, Sarah E. 6. Ann Eliza 4, Martha J. 2, and Enos H. seven months.

In 1860 Andrew County, Missouri, Thos Vaughn is 52, Hannah 41, Eliza 13, Martha 12, Enos 10, Thos A. 6. Thos Pennington is 21, Sarah E. 17. George is 20, Margaret 17. All the men are farming.

In 1870 Andrew County, Missouri, Thomas Vaughn is 72, Hannah 51, Anna E. 23, Martha J. 21, Enos 20, and Thomas 16.
In 1880 Stewartsville, Dekalb County, Missouri, Thos Vaughn is farming, 71, Hannah W. 61, Mattie 26, and grandson Georgie Vaughn 12..

One descendant's SAR application said that Thomas Vaughn, born 2-19-1808, died 2-12-1893 - married Sept 10, 1839 to Hannah A. Brown -5-14-1819, died 11-4-1901
1901 "A party of Wray ladies, Mrs. Whyte, Mrs. Loyd, Mrs. Harger, Grandma Vaughn and Miss Jennie Fowler, spent the day Thursday fisihing in the Rife pond near Laird. Six little fishes were taken. A splendid dinner and a delightful time is reported."

(Sarah Elizabeth Vaughn Pennington 1844-1929 is buried in Riverside California . Her husband John Thomas Pennington 1839-1931 married Sarah in 1860, and ran freighting teams from Omaha to Denver with oxen.)
George (according to daughter Mattie's death certificate, was born in Clay County, Missouri, and married Margaret A. McGee, also born in Clay County. Martha Jane Vaughn Condon was born October 1, 1861, and died in Nodaway County, Missouri, February 3, 1935.) that Margaret A. McGee was born 12-14-1842, married George June 3, 1860,and died Sept 11, 1868.

Mattie Vaughn married Byron E. Condon Feb 25, 1879 in Nodaway County.

Henderson, of Oregon; Hannah, who married John Grant, and died in Lexington, Missouri; Leander, a resident of California; Newmeris, of Bates county, Missouri; Justine, who first married I. N. Prather and, secondly, George Vaughn, of Colorado; William, of California; Albert, who died in Maryville, Missouri, in 1892; and Sarah J., who first married a Mr. Bassford and afterward J. Ferguson, of California.

In 1870 Nodaway County, Missouri, George Vaughn is 29, Jestine 28, Martha J. 9, Emma E. 7, Mary 5, Georgie E. 3, and Thomas Prather 7.
In 1880 Nodaway County, George B. Vaughn is a grocer, 39, born in Missouri, Rosanah J. 42, born in Kentucky. Hallie Prather, Rosanah's son, clerks in the store, 16. Emma 17 born in Missouri, Mollie 15 in Nebraska, Myrtle 9 , Wilmer 5, and Orrin 2. - the last three born in Missouri.
George Vaughn, who had owned a dry goods store in Maryville before he came to Colorado, established a store on the northwest corner of Byron Condon's homestead that was known as Condon. The Condon post office operated out of the store from 1888 to 1892 with George Vaughn as postmaster. The George Vaughns later left Colorado and settled in California.


In 1904, George and Rosanna J. Vaughn sold a lot on Shotwell Street in San Francisco to Henrietta E. Farwell.

George B. Vaughn 1840-1920 has a stone in Oakland, California # 134693069.
So does Rosanna Jestine Vaughn 1838-1929 # 134693051.

George B. Vaughn proved up a quarter in section 15 in 1892, and timber-claimed another in section 22 in 1895.

In 1900 Yuma County, George B. is a hardware merchant in Wray, born Sept 1841 in Missouri, married 30 years to Rozana J. March 1838 Kentucky, have Myrtle Jun 1870 Missouri.
In 1910 George is in Berkeley, California, no occupation , with Rosanna and Wilmer D. 35, widowed, a laborer doing odd jobs.

George and Rose Anna are still in Alameda County in 1920, living alone.

EMMA
In July of 1885 Mr. Byron Condon sold his interest to his partner and went to Wray, Colorado, to take advantage of the government land offers in that county. He bought and took with him the printing outfit of the old Maryville Times that Judge F. D. Snyder had discontinued publishing, and went prepared to start a paper in the town, which he did.

Miss Emma Vaughn, who was Mrs. Condon's sister, being his assistant. The land which he and miss Vaughn pre-empted was ten miles from Wray. Mr. Condon's family lived on the claim alone during the day, while he drove to and from his work every night and morning, Miss Vaughn accompanying him, her land adjoining that of Mr. Condon.

Emma E. Vaughn cash-claimed a quarter in section 22 in 1891.

ENOS

Enos H. Vaughn cash-claimed 200 acres in 1, 1S 44W in 1890, and another 40 acres in 1900.
On the same page in 1900 as George, both living on South Republican Street, Enos H. Vaughn born March 1850 in Missouri, married eight years to Josephine F. Feb 1865 Missouri, have Wray D. Dec 1892 and Hilda L. Jun 1896 , both Colorado.

1905 Wray "Crystal Mealey assisted in E.H. Vaughn's store Friday.

1909 "Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Vaughn, Mrs. Pennington and Mrs. Tom Loyd were guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Pike, near Laird, last Sunday."
Mr. and Mrs. Pennington, of Durango, Colorado, are visiting at the home of Mrs. and Mrs. E. H. Vaughn. Mrs. Pennington is a sister of Mrs. Vaughn."
In 1918 Mrs. Enos Vaughn of Wray was the director of the Yuma County census of the Nurse Forces, in which "Each and every man and wsoman in this county who is a trained, graduate or practical nurse, or an attendant, whether at present actively engaged in nursing or not, is earnestly requested to show their patriotism by reporting to the Director of this county as early as possible."

Enos 1850-1929 is buried in Wray, with Josephine 1864-1962.

Pneumonia Proves Fatal To T.A. Vaughn, Well Known Here.

Thomas Arthur Vaughn, 69 years old, retired financier of Oklahoma City, died at his home, 1205 Classen boulevard, Thursday morning at 4 o'clock, following a sudden attack of pneumonia.
Vaughn was born at Bolco, Missouri, March 10, 1854. He migrated with other pioneers to western Kansas in the early 80's, and then moved to Kingfisher, Okla., in 1889 as a homesteader, where he owned and conducted a general merchandise store for thirteen years.
Coming to Oklahoma City in 1900, he was one of the organizers of Kerfoot, Miller & Vaughn Wholesale Dry Goods company, also an organizer and officer of the First National Bank.
Vaughn moved to Pauls Valley in 1905, where he organized the Pauls Valley National Bank, then the first bank at Maysville, Okla., of which institution he was president for eight years.
Since retiring, Vaughn has lived in Oklahoma City, a period of ten years. He has been connected with different business organizations, being a director in the Fidelity National Bank, Midcontinent Life Insurance company, president of the Valley Hardware company, Pauls Valley, and also of the Vaughn Hardware companies of Lindsay, Okla., and Maysville.
Vaughn leaves a wife, Mrs. Lucy Vaughn; two daughters, Mrs. J.A. Snodgrass, Pauls Valley, and Mrs. J.M. Owen, Oklahoma City; a son, Byron A. Vaughn, Lindsay; two sisters, Mrs. Sam P. Harger, Hayward, Calif., Mrs. Sarah E. Pennington of California, and a brother, E.H. Vaughn of Wray, Colo.
He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner.
The funeral services will be held at the First Christian church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Oklahoma City Masons and Rev. J.D. Boen will conduct the services. Interment will be at Rose Hill cemetery.

Sam'l Harger, age 19, is is Owen County, Indiana in 1870, born in Kentucky, living with the Calvin and Susan Fowler family.
Samuel Harger married Mary Strouse in Owen County, Indiana January 21, 1875.

In 1880 Polk County, Nebraska, Samuel P. Harger is farming, 30, born in Kentucky. Mary E. is 28, Ohio. They have Charles W. 9, Indiana, Winnie R. 5, Indiana, John R. 3 Nebraska, Daisy P. 1 Nebraska, and Harry E. five months.

In 1900 Daisy Harger, born Aug 1878 in Nebraska, is a seamstress in Polk County, Nebraska, boarding with the widow Amanda Powers.
In 1910 Merrick County, Nebraska, Lowell and Daisy, both 30, have Daisy M. 2.

Daisy is in Routt County Colorado in 1920, married to Lowell Little, both 40 born in Nebraska. He is a doctor. They have Daisy M. 12 Nebr, Margery L. 8, and Lowell 4, all born in Nebraska.
1921 Hayden, Colorado "Daisy Mae and Lowell Little returned last Monday from a visit at Great Divide."
In 1928 Daisy Mae Little was a junior at the Delta Delta Delta sorority in Boulder.
They're in Fort Collins in 1930, with just the three kids. Daughter Daisy Mae, 22 is a public school teacher.
Marjorie married Benjamin Counter June 24, 1934.

1938 "Dr. and Mrs. Lowell Little and son, Lowell Little Jr.,. of Fort Collins, Mrs. Marguerite Counter and daughter, Ruth of Brighton were guests at a birthday dinner Sunday in honor of little Ann Marguerite Counter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Counter"
In 1938 Daisy Mae Little was teaching freshman English at Pueblo Colorado Central High School.

In 1940 Fort Collins, Lowell is a surgeon, and they have nephew Olin Little, 25 a forester at the experiment station, living with them.
" Biography Married Daisy Mae Harder (should be Harger) on Sept 2, 1903 in Elmwood, Neb. She died in August 1960. Came to Fort Collins in 1927 from Hayden, Colorado.
Little left Nebraska for Wyoming where he grew up in Indian country. His father ran a general store/trading post at Twin Creek, near present day Kemmerer. He did his pre-med work at the University of Iowa and had an internship in 1901 at the Homeopathic Medical College in Chicago.
He later enlisted as a first lieutenant in World War I and was one of 600 doctors loaned to the British. While on the front lines, Little escaped death after being gassed by the Germans. The physician attended the infamous Red baron while assigned to limited duty at an Austrian hospital. "
1956 Grand Prairie Texas "After two days of practice sessions and rehearsals, the 142 girls composing the big band and two 16-girl stage bands will give a concert Saturday evening. The TWU Serenaders will conclude the concert. On Friday evening, the girls will hear a special concert by the TWU Modern Choir, the Lasso Band, and varous members of the TWU music faculty. Both programs are free to the public. The event will be directed by Lowell P. Little, TWU director"
Lowell Preston Little 1915-1989 is buried in Denton, Texas # 23424104.
1962 Denton, Texas " Three Denton students are members of the NTSU -Concert Band,,which has just completed its 15lh annual spring tour. They are John Arthur Barnard, Lowell Preston Little and Billy Ray Phillips."
Lowell P. Little died in Fort Lauderdale on February 15, 1989 at the age of 74

"Dr. John R. Harger and his sister, Daisy, were married in a double wedding to Blanche Clapp and Dr. L. Little in September 1903, according to an article in the Gage County Democrat."
John 1876-1956 and Blanche (Clapp) Harger 1880-1940 are buried in Elmwood, Nebraska.

1956 " Dr. John R. Harger, 79, physician and surgeon who was born at St. Edward, practiced in Chicago for many years and returned to practice at St. Edward, died at Alliance, 0 . Dr. Harger had practiced in Chicago for 46 years, gaming prominence as a surgeon. In 1950, he decided to leave the 'turmoil of the city' and returned to practice at St. Edward. On his return, he helped plan the new Boone County Memorial Hospital at Albion and served as its chief of staff. In 1954, he suffered a heart attack and retired. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cecil Stewart of .Alliance, 0. Surviving besides his daughter are a son, James H. of Ridgwood. N. J., and a nephew, Robert H. Clapp of Lincoln. "
Mattie (Vaughn) Harger became a member of the Wray Presbyterian Church in 1888.

Mattie cash-claimed forty acres in 7, 1S 43W in 1890. She had another record of a homestead entry in that township, but it wasn't completed.

Mattie J. Harger timber-claimed a quarter in 19, 3N 43W in 1899.
Samuel Harger married Mattie Vaughn Sept 29, 1891, recorded in Yuma County. William Marshall, minister, performed the ceremony.
October 28, 1899 "W.P. Harger, brother of S.P. Harger, died at Holdredge, Neb., Wednesday.
In 1900 Wray, on Chief Street, Samuel P. born Nov 1849 in Kentucky, and Martha J. Feb 1849 Missouri, are dry goods merchants. Hannah Vaughn , born May 1819 in New York mfather "Rode Island", mother New York, is with them.

1901 "The Rattler this week sold the Butts house to S.P. Harger. It will be painted and otherwise improved and is to be occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Harger."
1902 "Mrs. S.P. Harger and Mrs. Hoppen are visiting at Maryville, Mo."

October 1910 "S.P. Harger is in Wray this week visiting E.H. Vaughn and Thos Loyd and families and greeting his host of old friends. Mr. Harger is on his way to his home in California from Indiana where he had been attending the funeral of his daughter."

That would be Winnie (Wynne) Mchaley - Oct 12, 1875-1910, buried in Spencer, Indiana # 72954710. Thomas McHaley born July 1873 is a lumber dealer in Spencer, with "Winetta October 1875 Indiana, married three years. William A. Dec 1897 and Frances P. Feb 1899, both boys born in Indiana.
In 1910 Spencer, Thomas is still a lumber dealer. Frances had died in 1907 (# 72954782) , and they have William 12 and Martha M. 6.
William Rhea McHaley 1897-1974 is buried in Orange County, California # 94536775.
Martha M. (McHaley) Reitan 1904-1984 is buried in Grand Island, Nebraska # 87068145.

In 1910 Alameda County, California, Samuel P Harger (second marriage) is 60, born in Kentucky, Martha J. 61, Missouri.
In 1920 Hayward, Alameda County, Samuel and Martha are lodging with the Joseph A. and Josephine S. Dearing famly. Both the dearings were born in Missouri.
Martha J.Harger, age 76, died November 24, 1924 in Alameda County.
Samuel P. Harger 1849-1933 is buried in Polk County, # 32657164.

1913 "Mrs. Clifford Harger of Laird spent the latter part of last week with her sister, MRs. Kate Jack, and other friends in this community."

Thomas Loyd arrived in Wray April 14, 1886.
Thomas Loyd proved up a quarter in 21, 1S 44W in 1893 - touching George Vaughn's claims, and only a half-mile from the future site of Vernon.
Thomas also timber-claimed a quarter in 12, 2N 44W in 1902.
1898 Vernon "Thos Loyd is platering the addition to the store and is doing a good job.

In 1900 Wray, Thomas Loyd is a plasterer, born Sept 1853 in Indiana, married 16 years to Elsa A. Sept 1847 Missouri. They have Edgar P. Sept 1885 Missouri, a farm laborer.

Ann Eliza (Vaughn) Loyd # 81588849 is buried in Wray.
1923 "The parties who broke into my corn bin Tuesday night are known. If they will come to me and make settlement, no prosecution witll follow. Thos. Loyd."

Thomas 1853-1934 # 81588900 is buried in Wray.
Edgar Poe Loyd was born Sept 6, 1884, and registred for WWI in Wray, farming, nearest relative Margaret May Loyd.
Edgar is buried in Wray 1884-1932 # 81588748, with Msrgaret May Loyd 1882-1978.

On the same page in 1900 Wray is Sitoesta E. Ellis, Aug 1872 Ohio, married three years to Nella B. Dec 1872 Ohio with Howard S. July 1898 Colorado.

Edgar P. Loyd is managing a grocery store in Wray in 1930, 50, with Mrgaret 48, born in IOwa. Thomas A. is 13, Margaret 12.

In 1940 Wray, Margaret is widowed, 59, with Thomas 23 a gas station attending, Margaret 21, and Margaret's mother Belle Boggs, widowed, 82, born in Iowa.
"Armstead M. Alexander married Sarah Frances Vaughn, a daughter of Thomas Vaughn, a representative of one of the earliest families to settle in the county, and still one of the most numerous. She died in April, 1904, and of their two children, only William Howell is living, the other son, Paul, who was a prominent lawyer in Jackson county, Missouri, having died in Independence, Missouri, in 1894. leaving a fam- ily of three children. "
