Charles arrived in Yuma County in 1886.
Charles W. Nordahl and Ellen Varnquist married May 6, 1890, recorded in Denver (at that time the county seat for his homestead).
Carl proved up a quarter in 31, 1S 43W in 1894 . In 1901 he bought the Jacob Yenter farm.
In 1900 Glendale precinct, Charles born Jan 1861 , Ellen Feb 1869, both Sweden, have George V. March 1891, Esther Oct 1892, and Helen M. Sept 1896, all three born in Colorado.
C.V. Nordahl raised 2048 bushel of wheat in 1900.
In 1910 Yuma County Charles 49, born in Sweden (arriving in 1880, naturalized), and Ellen M. have been married 20 years. She 's 41, also born in Sweden, arriving 1885, naturalized. George V. 19, Esther V. 17 and Maude H. 13 were all born in Colorado.
1912 Miss Esther Nordahl began teaching in the Columbia district south of Wray. "Miss Nordahl is a graduate of the 1912 class."
1915
1915 Mr. and Mrs. C.V. Nordahl purchased a new Dodge.
1916 C.V. Nordahl left by auto Tuesday for Denver, Colorado Springs and other mountain points. They will also go to Aspen where Miss Esther Nordahl will teach the coming year."

In 1920 Yuma County, George, 28, farming, and his sister Esther Edwards 27 and her husband William Edwards 35 are with him. They have a newborn, Charles Edwards.

In 1940 Yuma County, Esther Edwards is 48, managing a farm. Melvin, 21, William 19, Wilma 18, and Marjory 13 are with her. So is Charles Nordahl, 79.
Esther V. Edwards 1892-1981 is buried in Wray # 63624393.
C. Melvin Edwards 1919-1977 is buried in Wray # o63624373.
Jerome E. Gates, 44, married Helen M. Nordahl, 28, in Boulder August 12, 1925.
Jacksonville, Illinois "Word has been received here that Jerome E. Gates, formerly of this city,
and Miss Marjorie Nordahl were married Aug. 12, at Boulder, Colorado. Mrs. R. A. Gates,
mother of the groom, was present at the wedding. Mr. Gates is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Gates
of this city. He is at present manager of a creamery at Cheyenne, Wyo. He graduated from
the local high school with the class of 1900. He has a number of friends in this city.
The bride is known well and favorably now in Boulder, near which her parents reside on a farm. Mr. and Mrs. Gates left immediately on a trip thru Yellowstone Park, after which they will make their home at Cheyenne. "
1925 Jacksonville, Illinois "Mrs. R. A. Gates is in Cheyenne, Wyo., for a visit with her son, Jerome E. Gates. "
In 1930 Jerome, 48, born in Wisconsin, running a creamery, and Marjorie 33 are in Seattle, Washington.
1930 Jacksonville, Illinois "Jerome Gates of Seattle. Wash.. Is here for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, R. A. Gates, He has been traveling through several cities of the Middle West and reports business; conditions somewhat better on the west coast than in this section. There is less unemployment in Seattle. Mr. Gates says, than in cities farther east.
There has been considerable building and the construction program in Seattle this year
will amount to about $23,000,000. In normal times it reaches a total of $35,000,000 annually. Even with this decrease. building trades in Seattle are having a fair amount of business."

Jerome and Marjorie are in Seattle in 1940, too, still running a creamery. Jerome died June 9, 1974.
