Aaron Mayer, John A. Mayer , Wray

In 1870 Poweshiek County, Iowa, Dan'l Mayer and Mary are 51, Cornelus 22, Henry 20, Eliza 17, John 11, and Aaron 8.
In 1880 Poweshiek County, Iowa, Daniel Mayer, 60 is farming, Cornelius Mayer 32 is a boarder, breaking land, and Eliza 27, a daughter, and niece Clara 13 born in Pennsylvania.
"MAYER, DANIEL - Farmer, Section 24, P.O. Brooklyn. Was born in Pennsylvania, in 1819, and lived on a farm with his parents, who were natives of the same State, till 1844, when he was married to Mary Wary of same place. The spring of 1845 Mr. M. and wife moved to Cedar county, Iowa, where he entered 120 acres of land and engaged in improving the same till 1854, when he sold his place and settled on his present farm of 233 acres, having one of the best orchards of five acres in the county. Two girls and five boys have been born to them. One of the boys died in 1859. The eldest daughter is now the wife of W. B. Kent of the same township; eldest son at home; second son married and lives in this township. Mr. M. is now school treasurer, this being his twelfth term. Has been justice of the peace six years, and has held a number of other positions of trust. Mrs. Mayers, after many well spent and useful years of life, died May 17, 1875, and was buried in the Kent Cemetery near her former residence."
In 1885 Hamilton County, Iowa, Aaron Mayer, 23, no occupation, born in Keokuk County, Iowa, is with Williaam and Jane Miller - who have a restaurant.
Aaron Mayer, age 27, married Cora Newell, 21, in Wray Colorado April 21, 1889, William Marshall , minister, of Yuma, performed the ceremony. At that time Wray was in Washington County, so the marriage was recorded there.

Aaron cash-claimed a quarter in 6, 1S 43W in 1890. He had a timber claim filed, but it wasn't completed.
In 1900 Island County, Washington, Aaron Mayer is farming, born Jan 1862 in Iowa, married 11 years to Cora Oct 1867 in MInnesonta. They have Clarence N. June 1881 and Mae A. Feb 1893, both Washington. They're on the same page as Wickliff Newell - who had built the Sod Hotel in Wray and was the enumerator for this 1900 census.

In 1910, Aaron (a carpenter?) and Cora are in Nome district, Alaska with Clarence, a clerk, and Mae. .
In 1920, Aaron and Cora are in Seattle, where he is a carpenter. The next household is George Reed, a salesman, 27, born in Colorado, wife May, 26, born in Washington, with Harlan 6.
In 1930, Aaron and Cora are in Douglas County, Oregon, no occupation. They're on the same page as Clarence N. Mayer, 38, a highway construction foreman, married to Helen 39, Ioawa. They have Cora N. 13, born in Alaska.
In 1940, Aaron and Cora are in King County, Washington.
Aaron Mayer Date of Death: 8 Apr 1943 Place of Death: Seattle Age: 81
Aaron 1862-1943 is buried in King County, # 146531667.
So is Cora 1867-1944 # 146535457.

John A. Mayer, age 29, married Minnie F. Jones, age 21, at the Jones residence in Wray, Colorado December 16, 1888.
The ceremony was conducted by William T. Hays, Justice of the peace.
That might be the Isaac M. Jones who cash--claimed a quarter in 28, 1N 44W in 1890, and timber-claimed on in 1894 next to it. John A. Mayer cash-claimed a quarter in 19, 1N 43W in 1890.
Isaac M. Jones married Mary J. Cummins Nov 1, 1866 in Sangamon County, Illinois.
(ROBERT CUMMINGS, born Sept. 12, 1817, in Washington county, Ky., was brought to Sangamon county when he was about five years old, married Jan. 2, 1840, to Nancy Cloyd. They had six children. THOMAS N. married Sarah B. C. Harrison, have one living child, THOMAS O., and live in Woodside township. M ARGARET A. died at two years old. AMANDA E. married Jacob Beam. See his name. MARY J. married Isaac M. Jones, and reside in Woodside township. JOSEPH R. and EMMA S. reside with their parents, one and a half miles northwest of Woodside station._

In 1900 Springfield, Illinois, John A. Mayer is farming, born June 1858 Iowa, married 11 years to Minnie August 1868 Illinois. They have Edward D. Oct 1889 Colorado, Royal C. Jan 1892 Colorado, Myrtle Dec 1892 Colorado, and Flora August 1896 Colorado.

In 1910 Macoupin County, Illinois, John and Minnie are farming, with Roy B. 19, Martha S. 19, and Blanche 13.
Minnie N. Mayer, per # 18751050, died March 2, 1914, aged 46 years, suicide.
John is an inmate in 1920 at Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois, 63, divorced.
John A. Mayer, farmer, born in Iowa, died April 21, 1920, age 64, at Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois, to be buried at Springville.
FindaGrave 49805440 has him buried at Springfield, Illinois, Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Edward O. Mayer is farming with grandparents Isaac M. Jones 63 and Mary 62, in 1910 Springfield, Illinois.
Minnie F. Mayer is also in this household census, married but no spouse. So is Minnie's brother Robert L. 38, single, and her sister Idah Z. Keil, 29, Illinois, married seven years, but no spouse. Idah has had three kids, all lkiving, but they're not listed.
Roy B. Mayer registered for WWI in Auburn Illinois, born January 5, 1891 in Denver Colorado, farming, with a wife and one child.
When Roy Bernard Mayer registered for WWII, he said he was born at "Ray" Colorado. Roy died January 1970, last residence Springfield, Illinois.
In 1940 Sangamon County, Roy is a coal hauler, 49 and Florence 50, born in Illinois, have Joann, 11.


Blanche Flora Tuxhorn 1896-1978 is buried in Springfield, Illinois. # 107077640, with William Anton Tuxhorn 1894-1937.
Myrtle Faye Mayer 1892-1973 married William John Havey.
