John W. Dines , 1 South 43 West


John Wesley Dines was "a farmer by occupation, and was accidentally killed by a runaway horse at the age of sixty-eight years. His wife reached the age of sixty seven year. They were the parent of eleven children, of whom Henry (from the History of Adams County Illinois), the others being Mary E. the wife of D.B. Pritchard of Shelby County, Missouri,; Amanda E., the wife of Colonel John W. Hersey of Chicago, Ellen, the wife of Clay Balthrope of Kansas, Nance, the wife of John W. Freeman of Oklahoma; James Tyson, who is living in Shelby County, Missouri, JOHN W. of Oklahoma; Ollie, the wife of Edgar Taylor of Shelbyville, Missouri; Ida M. who resides in Danville, Illinois; William, who died at the age of eight years, adn Joseph C., who died at the age of twenty-two years.

John Wesley Dines 1819-1894 is buried in Shelby County Missouri # 83217251. His obituary says John W. was living near Shelbyville. John W. Dines of Shelby County, and Annie Watkins of Shelby County, were married May 27, 1882 in Shelby County, Missouri.


In 1900 his mother's obituary said John W. was living in Kansas.
1900 census for Thomas County, Kansas lists John W Dines, 54 (BORN 1855 !) Missouri wife Anna, son Dias 16, daughter Winnie 11, daughter Esta 9, daughter Ruth 7.
1910 Rogers County Oklahoma lists John W Dines 54 with wife Anna 51, daughter Winnifred 20, daughter Esta 18, daughter Ruth Ann 16. 1920 Craig County, Oklahoma J W Dines 64 years Mother's Birth Place: Kentucky Father's Birth Place: Maryland with wife Annie 67, daughter Winnifred 30, daughter Estha 27.

John timber-claimed a quarter in 19, 1S 43W in 1903. He had a record of a homestead entry, but it wasn't completed.



February 13, 1929: "John Dines, former resident of Shelbyville and brother of Mrs. R.E. Taylor of east of town, died Tuesday morning at his home in Vinita,Okla., according to word received here. He is survived by a brother J.T. Dines of Lentner, three daughters and a son all at home. No word was received concerning funeral arrangements."
John 1855-1929 # 100616526 is buried in Vinita, Oklahoma , with Anna R. Dines 1852-1920.
