HISTORY OF NORTHWESTERN IOWA:
On February 27, 1896, Frank H. West married Miss Louise A. Corrin, a native of
Clinton county, Iowa, and a daughter of John and Anna (Cain) Corrin, both of
whom were born on the Isle of Man. As young people they made the voyage to the new world and lived for a time in Pennsylvania. They came to Iowa in 1882, settling in Sac county, in which the father engaged in farming for a number of years, but he now makes his home in Wray, Colorado. There were eight children in his family: Margaret, deceased; Joseph, who still lives in Sac county; Thomas, who has passed away; Louise; three children who died in infancy; and Edith, who is the wife of A. A. Cuney, of Wray, Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. West have a family of ten children: Russell, J., Fred Eli, Annie Marie, Frank H., Jr., Agnes Louise, Ray Howard, Viola C., Jean Delight, June Elizabeth and Esther Ellen, all of whom reside with their parents. Mr. West votes the republican ticket but has never sought office as a reward for party allegiance. He has many friends in Ida Grove and throughout this county, and his record sustains the high reputation which has ever been borne by the family.

in 1980.
He was a member of the Early
United Methodist Church. Eugene enjoyed
gardening, fishing and camping.

"Louise Kampen, age 97, passed away on October 30, 2011, at Laurens, Iowa.
Grace Louise Corrin was born on August 16, 1914, near Arthur. She was the daughter of John Joseph and Lydia Grace (Bennett) Corrin. Louise was educated in area schools, graduating from Wall Lake high School in 1933. On January 5, 1938, Louise married Hans Henry Kampen at Wall Lake. To this union, three children were born, Kathlyn, Virginia and John. The couple farmed in the Pomeroy and Pocahontas areas until 1959, when they moved to Laurens. Louise worked as a cook at cafés in Albert City and Pocahontas. She worked for Hakes and later at Stoner’s Café. She worked at the Good Samaritan Home in various capacities for thirteen years before returning to Stoner’s. Hans passed away on January 7, 1994, and Louise has continued to make her home in Laurens. In April of 2007, she entered the Good Samaritan home.
Louise was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and her circle and was a board member of the congregate meal program. She enjoyed playing dominos and tending her flower and vegetable garden. She especially loved having been a farmer’s daughter and farmer’s wife.
Survivors include her daughter: Joni (Randy) Harig of Spencer; grandchildren: Lorie (Curt) Hudson of Laurens, Jackie (Craig) Hudson of Laurens, Dana Hovinga of Smithland, Monica Stewart of Spencer and Mike (Trinity) Harig of Sibley; great-grandchildren: Sami, Ryan, Taylor, Sadi, Skyler, Jeff, Jacob, Ashlynn, Hailey, Alaina and Krystal.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Kathlyn and Virginia, son, John, great-granddaughter, Amy Hudson brothers, Earl and Eugene and sisters, Annie and Edith."
Grace's sister "The Anthon (Iowa) Herald, 8 March 1933, page 1: Iowa Dakota Bennett was born September 24, 1867, in the vicinity of Anthon in Woodbury Co., Iowa, and passed away in a hospital in Denver, Colorado, February 26, 1933, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 2 days. In early life she was baptized and joined the Baptist church, to which faith she held to the end. She was united in marriage in 1883 to William Hoult, and to this union were born three sons and five daughters. Two sons and one daughter died in infancy. In 1910 she and her husband moved to Colorado, where she spent the remainder of her life. Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, William Hoult; one son John of Cherokee; four daughters, Mrs. Emily Dicus of Maybell, Colorado; Mrs. Anna Mullinex of Moville, Iowa; Mrs. Ruth Slaughter of Bethany, Missouri; and Mrs. Opal Warren of Akron, Colorado. She is also survived by four brothers, John, Jess and Ritner Bennett of Oto, Iowa; Edward Bennett of Montana; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Corrin of Wall Lake, Iowa; and Mrs. Katie Fuller of California; 16 grandchildren and a host of friends. Mrs. Hoult's body was shipped to Anthon for burial, and funeral services were held in the Methodist church last Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Watson Herrold officiating. Interment was in the Lucky Valley Cemetery."
Edith J. Corrin (Mrs. Russell Brucker , Odebolt, Iowa)

"Karla Grace Brucker, 34, of Garden City, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Coldwater.
She was born Aug. 27, 1966, at Fairfax, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Cathy (Pair) Brucker.
A resident of Garden City and Corpus Christi, Texas, for most of her life, she had moved to Garden City in 1988. She was a member of Bible Christian Church of Garden City, and enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and bowling.
She is survived by her parents, Charles and Peggy Brucker, Garden City, and Cathy and Dan Darroch, Coldwater; her grandmothers, Edith Brucker, Omaha, Neb., Grace Pair and Juanita Darroch, both of Coldwater, and Margaret Spikes, Garden City; a brother, Kevin Brucker, San Antonio; three stepbrothers, Rick Deel and Danny Darroch, both of Garden City, and Damon Darroch, Fort Riley; a stepsister, Vicki Foster, Albany, Ore.; four nephews; and one niece.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bible Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Jeff Starkey officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

"Gladys Myrtle Hagen was born the daughter of Lars and Annie (Olson) Hagen, on December 24, 1922, at her parents home, near Beltrami, MN..
She was united in marriage to Earl Corrin of Wall Lake, Iowa, on October 15, 1940. They made their home near Beltrami. In 1946, Earl died accidentally, and soon after Gladys and Roger moved back home and lived with her parents. On May 18, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Eddie Larson of Shelly, MN, where they made their home. "

1971 Algona Iowa "Mr. and Mrs. Rent Saathoff celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary Saturday. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kampen and Joni, Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Corrin, Early, and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brucker, Sac City, came bringing along a delicious dinner."
Annie Amelia Saathoff, age 94, of Lytton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 28th at 1:30 a.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
Annie was born on March 31, 1913, in Arthur, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph John and Lydia Grace (Bennett) Corrin. She grew up in the Odebolt-Arthur area where she attended country school and graduated from high school. She taught country school prior to her marriage on September 11, 1935, in Manson, Iowa, to Reent Saathoff. They made their home near Rockwell City and Sac City before moving to Lytton in 1953. This union was blessed with three children: Joy, Janet, and Jerry. She was a member of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. On November 17, 1987, Annie moved into Park View Care Center due to failing health.
Annie was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She would do anything for her children. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, sharing her produce with others, and working in her flower garden, raising gladiolas and mums, and filling her house with African Violets. Annie also enjoyed sewing and will be remembered for her great cooking and baking skills. She loved her family deeply and treasured their many visits.
Those left to mourn her passing include her children: Joy Reynolds and her significant other, Al Shimer of Perry, Iowa; Jerry Saathoff and wife Jennifer of Windsor Heights, Iowa; four grandchildren: Kathy Hansen and husband John, Wendy Nicolaisen and husband Willis, Ryan Saathoff, and Jessy Saathoff and significant other Dana Robinson; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Louise Kampen of Laurens, Iowa; and sisters-in-law: Mary Corrin of Early, Iowa, and Cena Junkman of Rockwell City, Iowa; many extended family members and friends.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reent on September 29, 1998; daughter Janet; two brothers: Earl and Eugene Corrin; and sister Edith Brucker.
