Paul and Louisa (Plucheck) Darbin, Joseph Plucheck , Laird
I'm also looking for information on a Piotr or Peter Pluta who immigrated from Tarnow. His wife was Thegla "Jessie" Jazwiec, and they came to the U.S. in about 1881. The name was changed from Pluta to Plucheck. The couple eventually settled in Colorado, by way of South Carolina, Louisianna, and Tarnow, Nebraska. (Apparently, Thegla had a brother who also lived in NE with the last name Zivitz.) My husband is descended from Grace Plucheck who was born in South Carolina to Joseph and Thegla. They apparently had other children before leaving Poland, but lost most of them on the journey and another one in Louisianna from drowning. Peter "Joseph" also had some troubles with dementia/mental illness later in life. Would like to find out more about this as the family has a history of this type of illness. Valleri Collins |
