February 1912 Wray "Through the good services of Town Marshal Henry Isreal of Ridgeway, what is claimed by the Denver police to be one of the
largest gangs of “white slavers' in the country will probably he caught and punished. Two girls who had been spirited away from Denver and put into houses of ill-repute in Telluride. They escaped and had returned as far as Ridgeway on their way home when they
were threatened by a white slave procurer who had followed them from Telluride. They appealed to Marshal Isreal.
The members of the gang who have been operating between Denver and the mining camps have been watched for some time and now complaints will be filed in the United States court charging several parties with
“white slaving'. A deputy Sheriff of the Denver county jail was implicated by the two girls rescued by Marshal Isreal. Henry Isreal is well known
in this county having been an early settler in the Vernon neighborhood. He homesteaded the place now owned by Frank Akey and occupied by Sam Blue."
