August 1947 Jefferson City "The marriage of Miss Virginia Ann Root,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Root, and Willard Oliver Read took place at the home
of her parents in the Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Kaiser, on Monday afternoon
at 2 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Alexander of the Christian Church of Lake Ozark. The bride was attired in an aqua crepe afternoon dress
with black accessories and carried a bouquet of white gladioli.
The maid of honor, Miss Margaret Wehking of Columbia, wore gray with white
accessories. Pete Noblett of Maryville was best man for Mr. Read.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the home. After a honeymoon
trip to Colorado Springs the couple will reside in Columbia. Mrs. Read is a former resident of Jefferson City
and is a graduate of the Jefferson City High School and the University of Missouri.
She received her B. A. degree this spring. She also attended Park College.
Mr. Read formerly resided in Colorado Springs. He is a graduate of the
University and is an assistant instructor there. He is also working on a Masters degree in Pharmacology.

"The funeral of Charles M. Root, aged 69, who died last Saturday after a short illness, was held from the family home,
2519 Wirt street, at 10:30 a. m. Monday. Mr. Root had been a resident of Nebraska for over twenty-five years,
settling first at Beatrice and then removing to Lincoln. A few years ago he came to Omaha to accept a position on the Twentieth Century Farmer, and resided with his two daughtersm Alioe M. and Mabel V., who are teachers in the public schools.
He was also engaged in preparing a genealogy of the Root family. In addition to his daughters,he is survived by two sons one at, Daf-fet Neb. and the other at Plattesmouth, where the body was taken for burial this noon.

- Mr Root was well and favorably known in this city where he was employed
as manager of the canning factory until the family removed to Linooln. Deceased was a brother of E. T. Root.
His friends in Beatrice will regret to learn of his death. "
