ANDERSON AND HARRIET
Hattie A. Jellison,
25, and
Alonzo McKinn married on 16 May 1886 in Brown County, Kansas.
November 1898 "The cozy home of District Clerk and Mrs. A. A. McKean, three miles southeast of Yuma,
was the scene of one of the most enjoyable events Wednesday
that has ever occured in this section, the occasion being the thirty-fifth birthday of Mrs. McKean.
The host and hostess, at all times royal entertainers, outdid all their previous efforts,
and the affair will be long remembered by the large crowd of friends present.
Mrs. McKean was the recipient of many valuable and useful presents as tokens of esteem.
At 12 o clock dinner, consisting of chicken, goose, turkey and a host of other good things,
was served and the manner in which the edibles disappeared was sufficient proof of the excellent cooking
of the hostess. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Wittlake, Mr . and Mrs. W. R . Fields, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Ogle, Dr. and Mrs. J. Gardner,
Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Deyo, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hull,
Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Cutler,
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Binford, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Moore and Mr. R. B. Cutler.

wishing Mrs. McKean many happy returns of the day ."

people became too much for my mother so she and Father hired a worman names Mrs. McKean to
help out. Mrs. McKean was a big wooman who owned a place
five miles south of town. After about six months of running this hotel, mother was worn out so my

September 1910 "One of the most tragic deaths on record was that of Irvan McKean, youngest
son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. McKean, formerly of Yuma, at Brighton, Colorado,
on last Sunday. It seems a number of young boys were playing Indian and Irvan having searched the house, found his father's revolver.
It was loaded but after extracting the cartridges from the chambers, he joined the sport with the others.
Before replacing the gun to the place it was usual kept, however, he undertook to reload the chambers, during
which time it was accidentally discharged, the ball striking him in the forehead .
All efforts to save his life proved unsuccessful and he died an hour later.
Irvan McKean was raised in the vicinity of Yuma and the many friends of the family here,
unite with the Pioneer in extending their nympathy to the relatives during their time of sorrow.
Burial was made Tuesday afternoon at Brighton.
Isaac and Edward Cutler, grand-father and uncle of the unfortunate boy,
were present at the funeral."
June 1912 "A. A. McKean has been in very poor health for a few weeks with a complication of
ailments. One of the most serious is the partial loss of his eyesight, so that he was obliged to resign his position at the Drcyer
& Sons store. His many friends are hoping that complete rest and medical
treatment will soon restore him to health. Mr. McKean will be remembered by our citizens as he and his family wore residents of Wray a few years ago.
His friends here will be sorry to hear of his misfortune and wish for him a rapid and
complete recovery."
August 23, 1912 "A. A. McKean, a former and well known citizen of Yuma,
died at Brighton Wednesday and will be buried there today.
Mr. McKean was unconscious for some days before his death.
The accidental death of Ivan, their youngest boy, almost two years ago, is thought to be the start of his ill health,
as the worry and trouble affected his brain."
